I'm having some work done on my 2008 Duramax. I have one diesel mechanic I spoke with who recommended I add a Lift Pump and recommended the BD system. I was talking with second Diesel mechanic who says he only recommends the Fast Fuel Pump Lift Pump System for that year of truck.
Which one should I go with?
I'm also going to add a compression brake and I'm planning to go with the BD system that compresses in the Turbo (if I understand correctly) which is half the money of the full jake brake system that compresses in the exhaust pipe -- BD also makes that system. As of now I'm choosing the first option because they're saying it's as good as the compression brake that I had in my 2011 system (which worked quite well) at half the price of the other system. Do I really need to go with the one that compresses in the exhaust?
The 2nd Diesel mechanic recommended the full exhaust system and said that I should do a delete package and add a 4" exhaust at the same time. He also recommended I remap the computer with a 30 hp tuner. We're talking a lot more money for these options.
At this point I'm thinking about the cheaper compression brake and the Lift Pump and skipping the other items to save money. I'm leaning towards the BD system over the Fast Fuel.
What would you recommend?

Would you buy a garage kept 1997 Silverado with 65,000 original miles for $6,500? Has the vortec 305 not 350 and is 2wd seems to be in very nice condition guy bought 3 years ago from original owners they were an older couple had 45,000 miles says he drives every day to work has put about 20,000 miles on it
He's firm on price originally wanted $8500 a month ago but has lowered to $6500
That about maxes out my budget
reliable to daily drive
so I guess my question is would you buy this truck or look for something newer with higher miles?
Just got a "brand new" used 2017 Silverado Z71 with the midnight edition package. I really loved the monochromatic look but hate the suspension on it. Anyone know how I can go about replacing the Rancho shocks while also leveling the truck and adding a 1 inch lift? It might be a tall order but would like to know if its possible. Do I need to replace the whole suspension system (shock, coils, struts, etc.) or just the shocks themselves. I normally drive on highways and unpaved country roads so a comfortable shock is really all I need nothing wildly "off-road" oriented. I'd honestly be ok with the stock suspension setup on LTZ/High country models but like the styling of the Z71 better so now I'm stuck with the stiffer suspension (which doesn't even make sense for off-roading).
