Rear window leak

I guess I have been lucky. Mine is not leaking. And I live in rainy Seattle. How do you know the build date on the truck?

For what it is worth.....I just checked my September build 2021 and it does not have the wing.  My January build 2020 had the wing.  My 2020 never leaked, but it only 8k miles when I traded for the 2021 (which is not leaking).

Also for what its worth, my August 2020 build does not have the wing, but it does leak.  Unless the actual frame itself is stronger or more reinforced, not sure really anything has changed with the part number change...

Alright brothers I'm back. But not because my window is leaking again, that seems to be good for now. My question is, I have just opened my 3rd case with GMC, jumping through hoops, talking to idiots. My truck has been in the shop for 85 days in the past 10 months, and I have some serious damage from a repair just done which will take some time to fix it. Has anyone been able to get ahold and talk to someone other then the so called senior service advisor that you play phone tag with. I'm looking for a regional service advisor or some type of person like that. I have a lawyer, and am ready to strongly pursue a buyback. Any help or contact information to speed up this process is greatly appreciated. Stay strong and let's get these trucks taken care of.

Give this a try. I’ve been in contact with her since mine started leaking and she even contacted my service manager a few times through the process without me even asking her to.

I haven’t been able to drive my truck since I got it back last week because I tested positive for Covid... ugh... but I drove it today and I’m not pleased. The exhaust they replaced is grumbling/grinding at low rpm especially 1200 rpm. Annnnnnd my window is leaking again! Same spot. I haven’t been able to drive it so it can’t be cracked again but we had a steady drizzle yesterday. Sent a text with pics to my service advisor at the dealership and will now email GMC and update them as well. This is disgustingly ridiculous! Love my truck and want to have one that stays dry!!!!!!

I’m new to GM and this forum because I’m considering ordering a 2021 Sierra Denali. After reading the first 20 and last 20 pages of this thread, I’m shocked to see this problem continue through 3 model years. It seems the only solution is to order a truck with a solid rear window, which is possible on some models, but not the Denali. I may try to get a sliding rear window delete on my Denali order, but if not allowed, then I may order the SLT with solid rear window. Or I may just go with a Ram 1500. Very disappointing because I had my heart set on the Denali.

You can’t order a Denali or SLT without a slider. I’m leaning towards putting a solid window in when I pick my truck up from ordering to avoid the future problem.

Count me in as part of the leak club. My AT4 build date is 8/20. Thought I'd be lucky but seems like a design flaw with all of them. Hopefully my repair will fix this the first time because I love this truck otherwise.

Also sorry about the drama with your truck, wow. The best way to have a dry T1 is to shove a towel between your leaking window frame and the rear seat. I know this is fatalistic and a defeated POV, but hey... I love everything about my truck minus the fact that it's been leaking for over a year now. When they didn't fix it the first time I brought it in, I took heed of the horror stories in this thread of others being without their trucks for weeks/months, only to have their "repairs" not even work. 

 

My leak isn't very strong... just a very slow drip/drop, and really only when it's a soaker rain. 

 

All that to say, the little towel I keep back there has kept my truck from any musty smell, rust, etc. It's stupid to have to do this on a vehicle built in our current eon of human existence, but it's better than the alternative, IMO.

Let us know what they do, and if it indeed stops, a lot of aftermarket fixes by some of the guys here, some seem to work good, but like others have mentioned, we shouldn't have to stick towels, and things in a truck to keep water from seeping in lol
