Rear window leak

Got mine back Friday 21st of December and no leaks after the replacement rear window. GM is placing the affected vehicles on a numbered list based on time of report of leak. I was one of the first reported cases and it took 39 days to get my truck back. Depending on how many are in front of you, it could be quite a while judging from my experience. As outrag 1 stated, be loud, but be civil. I would remind the dealership to do everything in their power to make you happy since 1. GM is paying for the repair and loaner vehicle and 2. They may like your repeat business. Also, be sure to get it on the record with GM Customer Service. Water damage is no joke, so be sure to let the dealership know that you want to inspect the truck, while they have it torn down, for damage. They will have to remove the rear seats and seat backs to replace the rear window assembly. It’s a perfect time to inspect for rust, mild and mildew.

Had not heard about this issue for a while so I thought I was safe.  Not.   Leaking on top passenger side.  Headliner is wet like previous pictures.  Water is dripping onto top of seat.

Sorry to hear of another GM customer experiencing this leak issue. I have to admit, I was very upset about it. However, GM did fix the issue and no further problems. Can’t say the same for other makes I have owned. Hang in there, I’m confident they will get yours right also.

It sucks that this is happening to so many people.  On the bright side, it does look like GM is taking care of it and has taken steps to fix the issue.  Since my back window was replaced I haven't had any issues.  I contacted GM about all the trouble and they gave me a certificate for accessories, paid for my nudge bar.

As indicated in my previous posts I had a leak as well.

 

I took my truck to the dealer on 1/5/19 and got it back on 1/15/19.

 

My dealer did not replace the window. They re-set my current one. Didn't really care as long as it doesn't leak.

 

While detailing the interior of my truck after getting it back I discovered a large gouge in the plastic kick panel on the drivers side back seat area that they damaged while removing and re-installing the back seats. I also found some minor paint chips under the back glass.

 

In addition, after I picked it up, I kept hearing something roll around the dash area every time I turned. Thought it was the key FOB but after eliminating that possibility I found a loose interior screw rolling around the dash board storage area. Then I found another one in the center console rear cup holder. Then, predictably, I started hearing a squeak from the rear seat area after hitting any bumps...assuming it's the two missing interior screws I found. I expected that stuff when I was 16 and my friend and I took apart my dash to install a radio and had left-over screws when we finished but not when I take my truck to a dealer. These are supposed to be professionals.

 

To make matters worse, after the first rain storm, my truck leaked again!

 

Took it back to the dealer and told my service adviser that everyone I know who has had this problem had their windows replaced, not re-sealed.

 

He called a few days ago and claims GM will not sign off on a window replacement. He claims they found the leak and sealed it. Sure...like they did the first time. Now they are waiting on the kick panel to come in that they damaged.

 

On a side note, prior to taking my truck in the first time, I messaged the GMCustomerService guy who sometimes responds to posts offering to work in conjunction with the dealer as an additional layer of support. No offense, seems like a nice guy, but other than e-mailing the dealership's 'customer experience manager' I don't really know what else they do. It doesn't seem to have helped my situation at all. 

 

I really do love the truck but this ordeal is sucking the joy out of the ownership experience.

You need to take your truck back to the dealership and make them fix it!  Document all of those things and go straight to the service manager and show him.  They need to replace that window, period.  The windows that are leaking a defective, they can't be repaired.  Once it's back in the service department I would be sure to call Chevy and let them know.

This is not encouraging.  You did not bring it to a dealer in Orlando by any chance did you?

Any idea of build dates of trucks with leaks? Has GM resolved this, or could current production trucks still have a problem?

I can't answer that first question but I have heard that GM got a new supplier due to these problems so it should not effect current production trucks.

Does your nudge bar interfere with the sensors?

Automotive prices continue to Rise, while Quality Declines.

The simple fact of the matter is that vehicles are not truly tested enough before being released into production.

Or, assembly lines are relying more on robots to perform repetitive tasks. Robots are not good at quality control however.
