I'm pretty pissed there's no update on this. Especially the bright at night issue...its a real safety concern.

I was driving to work today, in the dark (5am), and toggled on the camera to see how close the vehicle behind was. I nearly went off the road, I couldn't see a thing, it lit up the whole truck for 10seconds. The drivers oncoming and behind me probably thought I turned a light bar on inside the cab. Sounds like a stupid move, but I wasn't expecting it to be THAT bright.

It was so bright I could not look at it, and I tried to cover it. It was too bright to see the little [X] in the corner. Took my eyes a while to re-adjust to the road.

this needs to get fixed asap

You toggled the camera on, while driving forward, to see how close the vehicle behind you was? The truck has 3 mirrors which are 10x safer to view while driving forward than looking at a bright screen in the dark. If you couldn’t see the vehicle behind you in the mirrors then obviously he’s following extremely close, so taking your eyes off to view the screen wasn’t the brightest (no pun intended) idea. No offense but that seems reckless on your part, not the trucks fault.

No doubt it wasn't the smartest idea. But the truck has that option - and honestly it shouldn't. There's no prevention from accidentally clicking it either...or a passenger clicking it. Same ordeal

I took responsibility for it in the first post. And toggling the camera on takes no longer than it does to change a song/volume up/etc. There's just as little intervention with the touch screen as any of those functions.

You guys are going to sit here and tell me you've never toggled it while driving forward. Right... not even to check the trailer. ?

Not saying I haven’t - but why use it at night to see the vehicle behind you? Seems like common sense that the mirrors will give you a way better idea of how close they were.

Doesn’t matter when/why/how he uses it. What matters is it’s crap. Its blinding, grainy, etc. It definitely should not function like this

I have a new 2019 Silverado crew cab Z71 package.... I have the same problem with back up camera. Dealer change camera but its still the same. Its blurry, has a green hue with lines in it. junk!   I had a 2016 Silverado dbl cab , that camera was great. Cant even see what's behind you with this one.

Also while it was at the dealer, brake monitor was reading 40% left on front pads only drove it 2000 miles... did some update, at 100% now and had to do update on the battery saver program.

Has any dealer fixed this brightness at night trouble?

unfortunately, no.

Add me to the list. Mine went black today and said "Service Rear Vision System" but came back up right away. When it did come back up, the lines were missing though.

Reading a few pages back, where it was said that it's happening if you immediately try to reverse immediately after starting the truck may be true. It did it for me within seconds of startig my truck and putting it on reverse.

The non HD absolutely sucks at night time.

Amen to that! Also annoying are the drops on the camera lens when it rains, makes it almost impossible to see anything via the RV camera. Plus not being able to reduce the display brightness at night when the camera is active.

    • I agree, simplicity and reliability matter more as vehicles get more complicated. A V8 work truck option with fewer electronic features and a stronger warranty would definitely appeal to a lot of buyers who use their trucks for real work. Customizing it with trusted outfitters is often the best way to get exactly what you need.webcrimsNY
    • I’ve heard similar complaints from newer vehicles where the factory “premium” systems don’t always live up to expectations. A good installer should be able to improve the sound without turning it into a bass-heavy setup. I’d look into upgrading the front speakers, adding a quality DSP amplifier, and possibly improving sound deadening first—those changes usually make a much bigger difference than just adding a subwoofer. Hopefully someone local can recommend a reputable installer in the Las Vegas/St. George area.
    • Do you remember that Harley Davidson was more successful (solvent) when it produced about 60% of the market demand (by design) and forced wait times of up to three years? Even when your turn came around it was, "Take what we are giving you or move to the back of the line and start over". HUGE markup's were 'normalized' and dealer killed. 40% markup and no floor plan? What's not to love? Greed will kill them yet. They have surplus production and customer base is tanking. And still they think nosebleed pricing will work.
    • The engine was done as part of the 6.2 recall?   You'd have to see if your VIN also has the 6.2 engine special coverage on it.  Coverage number is N252494003.  If you have this, your engine is covered under this and NOT the GM replacement part engine warranty which is 3yr/100k from the date of install.  The 3yr/100k mi warranty is in effect for non warranty purchases.     This is not any different if it was replaced under warranty without a recall or special coverage.  So if you had a 5.3 and it popped at 3 years in at 50,000mi during the 5yr/60k powertrain, the replacement engine would not get the 3yr/100k, and instead gets the remainder of the 5yr/60k as coverage.     So N252494003 gives 10 years or 150,000mi of coverage, which ever comes first, starting at the vehicle in service date.  So if your in service date is 01/01/2022, N252494003 gives you special coverage of the engine until 01/01/2032 or 150,000mi, whichever comes first.  So if your start date was 01/01/2022, you'd have left 5 years and 4 months (lets round to august 1st), or 62,000mi left of coverage.   So you need to know your in service date to know how much coverage is left.
    • Okiee dokie there bud, way to take things to the extreme.   I guess you missed the whole point and take things way to serious. I installed different EV6 style injectors that just so happen to be larger in my car running the same LQ4 engine and with a better spray pattern than the stock style injectors and I noticed no difference in the idle quality. Kinda was my round about way of saying that even if you put the same size but better style injectors in your truck, you will likely see the same thing.    I'm sure you're great to have conversations with in person if that's how you act through a keyboard. One little things sets you off and now I guess my dick is all up in your face.
