My dealer immediately agreed that the backup camera image on my '16 was hazy, and ordered a new camera which is being installed as I type this.  No charge.  Gotta love warranty!

I purchased a new 2019 Silverado Trail Boss on 4/26/19. When I got home, with approximately 20 miles on it, I went to backup in the driveway and the camera became "fuzzy" with lines through it every time I touched the brake pedal. So I tried backing up several times and it repeatedly got "fuzzy" with lines running through the screen. After being in reverse for about 30 seconds or so the screen went blank and an error message appeared "service rear vision system". Within a moment or so the camera came back on however the guidelines for backing up where not there. I tried tapping the screen and hitting the home button but the only thing that got the guidelines to come back was to shift into park or drive then back into reverse. I called GM and they said to bring it to the dealer. I went back to the dealer and was given a loaner (2019 Silverado not the Trail Boss but with the same base package). I noticed this truck did the same thing. The dealer was able to replicate the issue in my vehicle as well as in several other similar model vehicles but stated at this time everything seems to being working "normally for this vehicle" and no issues were found. I find this to be alarming especially with 4 kids who could be at risk if the camera shuts down while backing up. I emailed GM my concern and received a rather generic response so I contacted the NHTSA and filed a formal complaint as this is a major safety concern. It appears that there are postings online about this issue from as far back as 9/2018 but the only thing GM has done is issue TSB's without an actual resolution. The dealer stated the common denominator was the trim level with the "cheaper smaller screen" and that the upper trim models didn't seem to be having this same issue. It would be beneficial for anyone else having this problem to contact the NHTSA with a formal complaint so that GM is forced to fix the underlying problem before someone gets hurt or killed. I was nervous switching from a Toyota to GM and this is my first "American Truck" since 1994 so it's not starting off well but I do like the truck otherwise. Thanks.

I'm having the same problems.  I took my truck to have the bed liner and tool box installed. I backed out of parking lot at the dealer all was good.  When I went to back into my driveway a picture of the Chevy dealer parking lot came up.  Then lines came across the screen.  Put in in park and tried again.  The Chevy parking lot came up again then my driveway.  The assist lines were missing and it appears to have water at the bottom of the screen.  Now it's like a permanent image out of focus.

I just took the truck to the dealer.  They are replacing the back up camera.  Just waiting for the parts.

I got my 2019 GMC AT4 about this time last month, July 2019.  Two weeks later I was on a trip back from a job and suddenly I got the message “sd card removed” and at that point the nav stopped working and then it will come back and then the message again and the nav will stop. 15 minutes went by with message on and off and  Then I got a blue screen of death.  Complete blue screen with the message “service rear camera system”  the front camera went all foggy and blurred.  Every time I shift gears now I get a blue screen.  None of the cameras work.

I took it in to the dealership when I got back into town and they said they have to wait for a solution from GM and it will take a couple of weeks.  It’s been a week now and I am waiting.

Got the Service Rear Vision System yesterday, after about 15 mins, it all worked again.  Hoping it stays this way.

i've had the nightime bright white screen too, but only happens at night. I'd say the camera is a downgrade from my 16 for sure.

Yeah... I have the 8"screen in an LT All Star Package... Didn't realize no HD camera.. The non HD absolutely sucks at night time. Also... No fog lights and no  Sirius. My 17 all star had them... Why take it away? Pay attention to your window sticker.

Honestly... How much cost difference can there bee between an HD and non HD camera... Everything on the market is HD... This is a poor choice by GM... Watch... 2020 or 31 it will be standard.... And they will play it off like it's something new....

I lease because I don’t put many miles on. Having the same issue on a Sierra SLE. Traded in my 17 Silverado early off lease to get ‘19 GMC on a great deal from the dealer. Has SLE preferred package which used to have Sirius but now doesn’t and I missed when I bought. Also backup camera is unusable at night. My Silverado was excellent at night. Very disappointing to go to this truck and have these issues......

Mine does this too, from time to time.  Screen image is fuzzy, sometimes it blanks out.  What I do is "reset" by putting the transmission into Park or Drive, then back into Reverse and it usually clears it up.  But it has been like this since the beginning.  It's a cheap video system they went with apparently.  Wonder where it was made (the camera and computer?)
