2015 Sierra Denali Trans Failure

Question to The OP.

Did you or the others you know by chance notice a whining sound at any point? It would be very similar to a power steering wine like when the wheels are turning left or right on an older vehicle.

First off I want to thank those who defended me.

I will try every avenue I can with GM to have them cover.

I have 3 friends and a son with Gm trucks

2014 sierra 130k trans gone

2015 sierra 120k trans gone

2015 sierra denali 100k trans gone (mine)

2015 sierra denali 106k still chugging but owner is concerned

2018 Silverado my son just bought 20k ok for now

all of the above have 5.3L (not sure what trans on these) I have not driven all of these for 100k nor have I counted the number of shifts ?

Were all these vehicles with issues subjected to a "transmission flush"?

Depending on the flush chemical provider, i.e., BG, they will usually carry a warranty when using their chemicals for flushes.

I cant say I have ever noticed a whining that wasn't there from day one.  I always thought my truck shifted weird (hard shifts I guess) also from day one. But how is one supposed to tell if it is normal or not.

MYC in your RPO codes designates a 6 speed.

Let me find the code for the 8 speeds.

MYC-TRANSMISSION, 6 SPD AUTOMATIC

From my build sheet

Mine started whining like that few days before it finally went.

I thought i was dealing with misfires, it drove like that. I changed plugs/wires/coils and still nothing. Turned out to be TC shudder lol Few days later i limped it to the dealer.

Thank you for posting this. I am tallying up the number of people who have heard this sound coming from the trans. It comes from the bell housing area typically. I believe it comes from the converter or pump. Likely the pump tho.
Appreciate it man[emoji106]

I was on Highway with cruise on at 72 and thought my truck was missing as well. A mile or 2 later I exited stopped at light, took off and really had trouble shifting into second. Really never saw 20mph after that.

Was it cold outside at the time?

Not really cold in the 40's car was warm too, I was prob 15 miles into a trip home from the store.

Yeah that's cold enough. Mine doesn't start whining and clunky shifts till it gets below 50°f out.

Can you look through the grill of your truck and see if you have the active shutters?
