I have less than 300 miles on my 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD. I have utilized the remote start feature on my fob 3 times so far. Each time, upon entering the vehicle, I place my foot on the brake and push the start button to bring it up to life. Everything works fine, with the exception of the infotainment screen. It remains black, with the exception of displaying the rear camera view when I back out my driveway. Once back in drive, it goes back to black. I have to park the vehicle, turn it off, and then re-start using the vehicles start button to bring the display back on. Anybody else having this issue?

That’s odd. Sounds like a software glitch to me.

I have the same truck. When I remote start it, the screen stays black. Once I get in, the GMC splash screen comes up. As soon as I hit the start button, the radio comes on instantly.

Report it to the dealer and see of they have an update available to fix this.  They had this same issue on the 2014 1500's It took a flash to correct it.

Thank you all for your info. I went into SETTINGS and tried to search for an update, but it said none available, and I also went onto ABOUT and it shows a BUILD NUMBER with a bunch of letters and numbers (I'.m assuming its version 148, as part of the numbers are "U148.3.4") with a date of Sep 12, 2019. I also tried pressing the HOME button below the screen, and it would not bring the display to life. Results are the same if I use the smartphone app to start the engine. So I guess its a glitch. I'll wait for something else to creep up before bringing it in.

I would at least call your dealer and tell them what you are experiencing so they can start researching a fix for you. Better than going to the dealer and they tell you to come back later after they learn how to fix it.

Well, this morning I got up bright and early to go take her to her first car wash. But she would not budge. After repeated tries to start the engine...just a click click click and multiple error codes. I called GM Roadside. The tow truck arrived and jump started it. I drove straight to the dealer to address this issue and the infotainment screen issue noted at the beginning of this thread. I just picked her back up from the dealer. They found that the 12 volt battery on the drivers side failed the "GR-8" test, while the battery on the passenger side was good. Replacing the battery also remedied the black infotainment screen upon remote start up issue!

Interesting way to get the infotainment system fixed haha. But weird that your truck wouldn't start with 1 good battery. I assume everything was covered under warranty. I remember reading in one of the threads that a dealer would not replace a bad battery in a new 2020 HD diesel with dual battery system... I think it was in one of the trailer light threads.

Good that they could fix everything in one day on a Saturday.

I have a 2020 silverado with 2500 miles.  It just started doing the same thing when using remote start. Have to turn engine off and restart it for display to work.

I have the same issue after getting a update the dealer said I needed.  I guess it came from the update.  It also now shows my trucks WiFi signal on my phone all the time, even with the truck locked and all systems of.  Concerned it will run batteries down now...

Mine was doing the same thing. Wifi staying on and black screen after remote starts.  Unhooked both batteries for about 15 minutes and afterwards all the problems went away.

Yes, and if you don’t restart the vehicle to reset the screen, overnight my batteries drained completely dead!  Can’t even jumpstart it now, currently trying to put a little charge into the batteries to try boosting again...
