55W with 8000k is not enough light and it is blue. It makes made me angry to see halogen lights outshining 55W lights. I knew when I did it I was asking for trouble. But I wanted blue. Just didn't know I wouldn't be able to see!

55W with 6000k is great. Perfect! Get your shine on!

35W with 6000k is not enough light and it is blue. I thought I liked blue lights but not on headlights. Not after 6000k 55W.

I wonder how 5000k with 55W is.

The guy at thehidfactory.com said it would be tinted yellow. And we don't want any yellow! Oh, but its probably soo bright. I am going back over there tomorrow to get relays and these wangsta 35W ballasts taken out for the 55W ballasts.

The 55W ballasts without the relays mess up as they draw too much current under DRL mode and the computer turns off the light. Even my OnStar saw it. It only happened on the left side. So now I gotta take it in and sit for a little while longer in there nice waiting room. Such is life!

HOLY HUGE THREAD OF CRAP!

So much info its hard to look through.

Is there any drop in kit to get HIDs in a Projector for a Silverado?

Posted

has anyone tried this in trucks that have the halogen projectors?

SIERRA SPEC: MORIMOTO ELITE HID SYSTEM

I read someone tried it on the Duramax forum and it looks like they had real good results for the factory SLT projectors.

I recently completed my HID install with the Morimoto sierra spec kit. I went with the XB35 5500k. They seem to match my vled 5000k fogs well. The hardest part was trying to decide where to run the relay and ballasts. Much better light output than stock even after the factory tsb update. I have an SLE so i had the same issue with drl's not coming on til i put it in drive. Im kind of thinking its a normal thing as so many others have same issue. No other issues tho. Forgot to take night pics will get those soon.

His lights are on but his LED running lights aren't. When I saw the pic above it made me think about mine, so I went out and snapped a pic. What's the difference? Why would my LED's work and his not?

Are you talking about Ryan's lights? If so, it's cause he has an SLE, so his headlights don't even have the LEDs

Anyone running the Morimoto 55w kit in FX-R's on a Silverado? I just got some lightly used LTZ projector headlights and am going to install FX-R's with the fastheadlight's bracket. I'm wondering if the 55W kit will cause any issues long term with the housing or brackets due to the heat.

I've got the 55watts coming.

I have 55w DDM in stock projectors, still holding up after ~35,000KM. I suspect FX-R will outlast by a long shot.

I've been running them since post 901. Just added the brackets a couple months back and that is much better, but could use a pocket to hold the nuts for the lower projector bolts. I glued them to hold in place for install.

So I've read through alot of this and still don't know much about which kit I need. I'm wanting something in the 5K color for my 15' Silverado LTZ. Seems so many kits have issues. I'm hunting plug n play with reliabilty. What's the favorite?
