I just got back from a 1k road trip, and the shake is def there. Soon as i start to hit 75-80, it starts...really annoying. I will say tho, that if GM had designed the arm rest/bench differntly to be more rigid, i think half of us wouldnt even know a problem exists. I say this because i can put a good amount of my weight on the arm rest and it stops shaking. (I know others have floor shake/steering etc)

Just got my truck back from the "final repair attempt" it is better but not perfect and GM is saying it is within spec....the vibration is still in the steering wheel and the drivers seat but the center console has stopped shaking...they replaced 3 tires and the ring and pinion...they have had it since early December. I am very disappointed to say the least having driven Chevys for the last 41 years. Lets see what the BBB and the lawyers do now....

So what exactly is spec and where are they getting their "spec" from"??? Have they shown anyone on paper what the specs for vibrations are or is saying it's in spec a way to get out of it? So what is spec and how is that determined?

PI1354B (Document ID 4072382) from 2/5/15 is called "information on Vibration Analysis and Diagnostic" lists most (all?) specs of the parts related to vibration chasing. Its actually a 16 page document full of all kinds of fun info. For example, one of the corrective actions is to unbolt the cab from the frame and pry it up to attempt to resettle the body mounts. I've never heard of anyone having this done.

I would ask for a complete printout of actual measured values vs specified values. GM dealers provide this to a customer on request when they do an alignment, so why not for vibration issues?

 

But I would not trust GM "vibration spec" maximum acceptable numbers, as they could just adjust them to cover most cases without having to do any repairs. It would be necessary to compare these specs to other manufacturer's specs for similar vehicles.

I am having issues with my brand new 2015 GMC Yukon Denali. I was so excited to get this new car. It had a leak in the back right rear window from the start. They had to replace the entire headliner in the interior. Now I've got a shake/shiver when in idle both in gear and out of gear. It feels like the car needs more gas. I've taken it into the shop 3 times now. The service department, after listening to my complaint and acknowledging the shiver, ultimately states that the car is "operating as designed". I've test driven a 6.2 liter Denali that does not have this issue.

 

They've stone-walled me at GM, essentially saying they can't fix a problem that doesn't exist. Has anyone else had this issue? You would think that a brand new car wouldn't have this issue, and that they could do something to fix a rough idle. I'm beyond frustrated. I'd love to hear if anyone has the same problem.

Just curious - why would they have had to replace the headliner to fix a water leak on the side window? Seems odd.

They attempted this on mine and it also included the box as well...Nothing Changed !

I know this is going to look suspicious being only my third post but I wasn't sure what forum to join at first. I have noticed a shake or vibration in my new 4x4 crew 5.5 box 5.3 truck it seems to come and go and has been a pain to pin point what makes it happen. I can feel it in the steering wheel, seat and sometimes the gas petal but mostly in the steering wheel. It seems to be most noticeable going up or down hill with very light acceleration but can do it on level ground at cruise speed too. And the fun part is it doesn't always do it to make it more of a challenge to diagnose it.

 

Brought it to the dealer last week and I thought the mechanic was going to think I was crazy but he did feel it too which was a relief also the service writer test drove it after they balanced and rotated the tires and he said its slight, but he felt it too. We scheduled it to come in tomorrow and are opening a warranty claim. I have very little faith that its going to get fixed because of the nature of the vibration and it being so new that there probably isn't any info out there on what it could be. I really don't know what they can do tomorrow other then make phone calls. If I had to venture a guess I'm going to say its in the transmission or possibly the engine.

 

We also have a 2012 equinox and on the same roads there's no vibration at all.

 

Also I have the z71 and man does that thing ride STIFF! Every repair strip in the tar is felt hard! Anyone know if it just takes some miles to get the shocks broke in (2600 on it now)? My 04 was a z71 too and rode much, much softer then this.

 

I would really like to get this figured out because it, along with a few other

smaller things is preventing me from loving this truck.

I am experiencing the same problem. Took my truck to the dealer and they said it needs to "break in" since it only has 1k miles. Has anyone heard of a solution to this problem?

So what do they intend to do next?

Send it to the auction, I gave them six weeks to find a Silverado that does

not vibrate and they couldn't so they bought it back.

"Auction" on their own used car lot, with "certified used" slapped on the window, waiting for the next sucker to come in and pay premium price for it. And the cycle continues.

    • Question @diyer2 on this line if you please. Are you saying the shudder is the system turning on and off at the frequency of the shudder? Guess I'm asking if you are saying you have seen it do this with the bi-direction scan tool in graph mode? If so have you been able to discern the 'trigger'. Something is telling to cycle rapidly.    My truck just started doing this recently. 197K on the clock. My response has been M5 anything under 55 mph. I treat it like a lugging stick shift. Gear down and let it spin a bit. Engauge M5, then tow mode and then M6 lets the trans stay in 5th but the AFM is active. Smooth like Skippy.    My thought was that as a machine ages the friction gets lower and as the system is load based, the lower friction would allow it to turn on at ever lower rpm until it reaches the lugging point. And yes I am ignorant of any minimum rpm requirement for the system. If you know that would be useful information.    As you know I run a Scan-Gauge II which allows me to watch the On/Off of the signal to the VLOM. While in the shudder mode I'm not seeing is cycle at that frequency or at all for that matter outside the triggers @newdude posted a few years back. Now is it possible that the refresh rate isn't fast enough to catch it? Maybe. It is why I asked my first question about graphing and trigging parameter.     As we have observed from members here the failure point is all over the map miles wise as you note yourself in your opening post. That by itself begs a few questions like fellows that comment on these lifters failing even after the system has been disabled.     • UPDATE 2: Steering wheel control backlights and control of the cluster can supposedly be achieved by adding a wire to pin 20 of the cluster and tapping it to pin 2 of the main clock spring harness. I'm going to give it a shot - will update  
    • GM Global A pickups 2019-2022 can do OTA programming for the radio.  GM VIP (GM Global B) can do OTAs for almost every module on board.  So a 2022.5 and newer pickup can do OTAs for recalls like the 2.7 fuel flow recall.  EVs get OTAs that improve one pedal driving, radio issues, HVAC issues, updated battery management software, etc.     So age of the vehicle/what GM electrical platform its on will alter what amount of updates can be pushed on OTAs.  
    • Thank You.   So far my new ride is making me look like a genius for going with the 3.0L, as my first fuel refill occurred over three weeks from when I took delivery.  This engine combination is very amazing.  So far no issues and had not done a regen yet.
    • I am curious as to how much fluid you put back in the transmission ( assuming you had replaced the filter to compare to my findings ) and then went through the process of warming up the trans before pulling the check plug to drain out the excess and if you measured how much came back out.    I just found it surprising that some claimed a certain amount less fluid being put in and then draining some back out. The attitude of the truck as per if the surface is level and how the trucks stance is would make quite a difference since the check plug is right at the front of the transmission.
