My wife drives a 15 Sonata, $128 per month lease. Their building damn good cars, hell of a lot better then GM is building these trucks. I test drove a Malibu first, total POS.

Hyundai does not sell any pickup trucks in the US. That was the whole point of my post. And yes, South Koreans have improved the quality of their cars tremendously in the last decade or so. Hyundai reputation in 2000 was so bad that Honda dealers did not want to take any Hyundais on trade.

And the resale value was dismal.

Those of you who have gone thru the BBB trade thing it's equal or greater msrp of any GM vehicle right? Wouldn't it work to go with a 2500HD or something with higher resale value and no known issues like the vibrations and buffeting then trade that off at the Ford, Ram, or Toyota dealership hopefully taking less of a hit on trade in value.

I know that I only have a few post on here, but I do follow this forum on a regular basis just to see if anyone has come up with a miracle. I won't go into detail, but I was test driving a new 2015 slt sierra (I have a 2015 sle now) and it vibrated worse. I got on the interstate for my hour drive home and immediately got off on the next exit and returned to the dealer. Told them no deal, it's worse than what I have now. They all looked shocked...lol What are the odds that out of all of the trucks on the lot,I pick the one the vibrates. I'm starting to think the odds were pretty good, because there are probably a lot more vibrators out there than they will admit to.

The give you equal MSRP, not lower or higher.... If you want to upgrade, its on you. In addition, there are some vibration issues in the HD series aswell, there is a thread on this site about it. it's no where near as big as this, which many still consider very small, but it is there. GM has atleast tried to fix that one by doing a silent TSB to add a dempening system to the steering column on the HD trucks.

Another article on vibration issues. There is one statement in the article that reflects GMs thinking:

GM is keeping on eye on how many units they have to buy back or trade for. If the number is low enough, they will not make any changes to design.

http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2015/12/there-s-a-big-issue-with-gm-s-suvs-and-no-one-seems-to-have-a-solution.html

The quoted sentence above, if indeed true, is enough for me to abandon GM vehicles for good.

Anybody have a link to a discussion regarding a vibration under hard acceleration above 80MPH. seems to stop when i let off the gas. i searched using vibration hard acceleration and got nthing thanks

I have the same issue, my dealer has been trying to figure out with no luck. It was in the dealer last Tuesday and is going back cause its still not fixed. Has a vibration/ rumbling sound in floor board under hard acceleration over 78mph, it wont do it until it hits 78 and then continues up from there unless I slightly let up on gas peddle.

I tried to replicate it in M4 thinking high rpm but it only did it in WOT. Ring and pinion mesh under high twisting force at high speed maybe?

There's not a single automaker out there that doesn't look at it this very same way.

that one sounds like it is resonance from the exhaust system and possibly wind. ask them to add sound deadening material under the floor, I used to have a car that had some wrapped over the top of an exhaust shield, and even over the drive shaft

do you mean M5 mode? also, I believe that Ring and pinion mesh under high twisting force was brought up a few dozen pages ago. I think it was abominable. maybe he can chime in, as I don't fully remember what he found/ thought

Quick update. Truck number 2 (my 2014 was BBB'd and MSRP traded for 2015).

After final repair and no fix, my GM business resource contact called within a week offering me basically anything I asked for. I could pick between full MSRP trade or repurchase. I chose repurchase...done with this mess. I'm not saying other trucks are perfect...but I cannot continue this cycle of dealing with trucks that are proven to be built with faulty parts, vibrate on the highway, etc...I have to move on and give another OEM a shot.

All in all I drove 2 new trucks for a total of 25,000 miles, and will be losing around $2k total after lemon law usage fees, for mileage before first service visit on the 2015. That's about $80 a month on a 2 year lease, pretty sweet. Mix in the frustration, and we can call it even.

This may be my last post here, so I would just like to say...for those still dealing with this issue, and want out, the BBB works. It has worked twice now for me. Keep all service records, be calm and cool with your dealership, as well as with any GM reps you have to speak with. The squeaky wheel gets the grease...post YouTube videos under an account with your real name...GM monitors these things and will make note of who is keeping quiet, and who is driving business away from them via social media. The more noise you make, the easier it will be for GM to give you what you want, especially if you want your money back (my theory).

GM was very difficult the first time around. They made multiple terrible offers before finally (the day before our arbitration date) giving in and offering full MSRP replacement. The second time around, I made as much noise as possible on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc...and within a few days of my final repair they were already offering me full MSRP or a repurchase.

Good luck to all, I am moving on.

M5 mode? I didn't know it was a mode lol. I thought "manual" was the mode. whether it's M1,2,3,4,5. Anyway, i put it in manual and downshifted to 4th at 90MPH to see if high rpm was the cause. It was not. I agree there is a possibility my Borla is causing it under WOT as it does make a lot of sense if i am deep in the throttle. Wind doesn't make as much sense because as i said, only under WOT. Couple the two together and maybe we have something. i don't spend much time up at those speeds as the limit is 50MPH or 60 on the 4 lane 401. so i might see 80 max. I was passing when i noticed it so as you can imagine it wasn't for long. Other than that truck has been awesome.

Glad you got sorted out mike

M5 just deactivates the AFM, so the truck stays in 6 or 8 cyl depending on your engine.

Isn't it deactivated in anything but M6? Anyway, I thought maybe it could be a vibration from the backpressure (flapper) valve. Not a huge deal to me as i am rarely going that fast. i just wanted to share my experience.

I've never had a vibration problem whatsoever ......until I brought my truck in to the dealer a couple weeks ago. My leaf springs were making a poping noise while going over uneven surfaces. They did fix that problem, but while I was there they offered a tire balance and some sort of bulletin/update for software for the front transfer case. Something about in warm temps the 4x4 could come out of 4x4 or something like that. Can't exactly remember, but it was a software update. So having the leaf springs fixed, a tire rotation, a tire balance, and this software update.......NOW I have a slight vibration I can feel in the steering wheel at high speeds. I went back and they said they checked the tire balance and it was good.which leaves the software update....? Hard to believe that would cause anything. I think I just need to go to a tire shop to have my tires balanced again. Wish they never touched it.

I had the transfer case update, and no problems. I was vibration free when I purchased it new. It was still vibration free after the dealer installed running boards, and is still vibration free after the first oil change (the free service, which includes tire rotation) where they did the transfer case update as well.

Since people with 2WD trucks have also had vibration problems, I doubt it has anything to to with 2WD vs. 4WD.

as far as I know, M5 is the only one that does the deactivation
