High frequency noise coming from dash when in 4WD

I removed the TCCM and put two layers of the very expensive dynamat extreme peel and stick pads. I put the dynamat on the front, back and sides. There is absolutely no electronic chirp anymore. Best $40 I ever spent. It was driving me insane. I also avoided putting dynamat on the two lugs on the tccm that the body mount clips snap onto. It fits fine despite adding two layers to the outside.

I'm going to try this soon. Hey GM, do you see what your customers have to do to use 4wd without getting a headache? Please issue a formal fix for this. We really like our trucks; but this is ridiculous.

Where can I buy some of this?

Got our first snowfall today and I to have this issue on my 15 Ltz that I bought in November. My friends dad owns the dealer so I'll try and do some digging to find out more. It's ridiculous that a 50k dollar truck has this issue and GM seems to not care about us.

That dynamat idea is genius! Freaking General Motors for the lose for not doing this from the factory. I don't run 4x4 or auto much but, I think I may just do this...

Just took my 2015 silverado in for oil change and also brought this beeping noise to their attention. GM's bulletin said that this noise is normal which is complete crap and there is nothing they will do. i tried relaying this forum over to gm and they said they were already aware of this issue and it takes years and money to come up with a fix. which is a complete load of bull crap. Since people have fixed the problem themselves.

The senior adviser for gm told me she would work with me to help me resolve the issue on MY truck. Which i laughed at her and said "Ma'am its not just my truck its all of them" they gave me a brand new 16 and it was even louder in that one.

I informed her that i would like to get out of my lease since winter just started here in MIchigan and Im not enduring this all winter.

Since its with gm financial and not with ally any more. The only way i can get out of my lease is if someone purchases the vehicle from me and buys the truck out of the lease. They cant just take over my payments like other companies allowed.

I asked if they would reimburse me for the depreciation of the vehicle because of this annoying sound would make it harder to sell. She simply told me hopefully the next guy wont hear it..... thanks GM

This is my first brand New gm product i have owned and will never own one again. ever since the bailout they have been going down hill fast.

i owned a cobalt as well with the ignition recall. that car almost killed me as i lost power going around a curve on the highway and spun me out in the middle of traffic.

As far as Im concerned i will never own a new gm product ever again,

Maybe when a company needs a bail out its better to let them fail. for a good business would never need a bailout .....

monday i should be getting a call with an answer. ill keep ya all updated

I understand that you're upset but, the guy a few replies up fixed it for $40 with of dynamat and about an hour or work probably.... Sounds like a lot less trouble to me. I agree that it's annoying and if I bothered me as much as it seems to you I'd just fix it..... If I ran 4x4 a lot I probably would but, with good tires, there needs to be a lot of snow on the ground for me to have it in anything but 2high if I'm on the road so I don't run 4x4 a whole lot.

I use it alot to help pull out of the subdivision onto main roads when its snowy out or out two tracking and using a truck for truck stuff. Yes I could fix it my self with my hard earned money. But that's why I choose to get a brand new truck so I wouldn't have to use my own money to fix it. I understand that with installed parts as-in seats, dash, hard parts I guess, that sometimes those make noise. But with how far we have come with technology I shouldn't have to hear this noise. My guess was they had two parts to choose from. One was .60cents the other was .20cents. Guess which one GM chose.

I am a bit confused of this items location,... Is it under the dash to the left or towards the door from the steering column?

Thanks to Samsquanch, I pulled the TCCM, wrapped it in a single layer of Dynamat (for proof of concept before adding a second layer, Amazon, $25) and reinstalled - the whole project took about 20 minutes. The high-frequency chirp is 95% gone - I had to strain to hear it with the radio off and have to think that wrapping it with a second layer will deaden the sound all together.

Gm said they would call me on Monday with an answer. I actually got the call today 3 days early. Apparently they didn't do much at GM. Basically I was told "Hopefully who ever buys it next won't hear it"... Thanks GM... Anyone on here wanna buy my 2015 double cab rainforest green 1500. Only has 7600 miles on it. Preferred buyer to have a slight hard of hearing ...

Just pull the Damn thing out and Dynamat it. Life's too short.

Glad you guys have found an excellent workaround for this. Once it's above freezing I'm definitely going to wrap mine.

Of all the executive decision makers at GM, how do none of them have their own K2 or know someone who drives one and is suffering through this high freq noise? It blows my mind that at least one of them isn't so bothered by this that they step up and make their company find a solution.
