steig: I know it is a pain but would not do a buy back for FM trouble. They will get it fixed. Until then, XM, smartphone, ipod, cd etc...till fixed. Maybe post 332 can give you the update that appears to have fixed his...I am old school, listen to xm, cds and now slowly moving to downloaded tunes. Seldom listen to FM. Cannot stand the chatter and commercials anymore. Good luck on the fix.

I refuse to pay for XM, if GM cant fix it properly then they can either buy the truck back or pay for a lifetime XM subscription. In OK under our Lemon laws we don't lose any money on a buy back, GM has to pay you for all accessories added to the vehicle. Part of the main reason GM tries really hard to get the issue resolved. Plus now from what a dealer buddy told me the dealer that processes the buyback is the one stuck with the vehicle, so the dealer is on the hook to try and get the truck fixed and not have to go thru a buy back as well.

Related to Post 332: will there be an official recall or is it one of those things where u have to take it and then they update the truck.

Just completed a survey for GM about their service and my truck, I told them that the audio system in the truck and FM reception was a 1 on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the best, I also gave them a long statement about the number of contacts I had with GM and the trips to the dealer. I requested the someone in authority at GM contact me to discuss the problem.

It's one of those things where if you go in with the complaint of your screen blacking out, they should do the update. Bad news is my radio was crap again this morning.

Does anyone know the order code for an 8 track tape deck with the current FM radio, I believe that it would be a perfect match, my 1975 vehicle(first car with FM) had better reception.

Just heard from GM today, they are not going to do anything about my FM radio reception issue. They claim it is operating as normal, even though my dealer and a GM factory tech verfiied that there is a issue with the radio.

Very bad customer service.

here is the email I just sent to all of the appropriate GM executive staff, lets see if it helps. I helped one of the CEO's from my company with some issues on his 2012 Cadillac CTS a couple of years ago and was surprised to see that he had someone from GM upper lever management contact him with in 48 business hours and had his issue resolved in less than 2 weeks.

Hello all,
I am sorry I had to resort to emailing the executive team of GM but unfortunately going thru your dealers who have to work with GM's regional people and the GM tech people has gotten us no where.
I have a 2014 GMC Sierra that I had a dealer locate and shipped in for me to purchase. I bought this truck new (crew cab, All Terrain package with the 6.2l motor) with a sticker of $53k by using my GM employee discount (me being a former GM employee, my mother retired from GM, my father retired from GM - all of us from the OKC OK plant).
I am deeply rooted in GM and have only owned GM vehicles my entire life. My wife and I sold a 2008 Corvette and a 2010 Sierra crew cab All Terrain to consolidate down vehicles, with that I chose this fully loaded Sierra as my replacement in hopes it would last me for a long time.
Here is where my issue comes in. The radio reception is horrible in this truck. My previous Sierra (the above mentioned one) could make the 90 mile drive to my grand parents home from Norman OK to Cushing OK and would hold the major local radio stations for the entire trip. Never once would I lose a station, have it fade out or drop off.
Since I have been in this truck (12/1/2013) I lose local radio stations in the city of OKC (where most all of them are located at, 50,000w or higher output stations) for no reason. Dealers are blaming it on the HD system, antenna issues, ect ect... but I am losing even non HD stations as well. Stations will cut in and out, the sound will become muted and or distorted and then just as randomly as I starts it will end and the station will come back into reception.
I had the dealer look at it, they checked the obvious (antenna and connections) and said it is fine. There are well over 50 owners on a GM web board all complaining of this issue and all of us getting no where with GM. Dealer Techs, GM Techs and service advisors are saying the issue is there, but GM says this is normal and is doing nothing. Dealer is telling some of us that GM has not heard of this issue, but we all know that is not truthful. The company GM sourced the infotainment from even knows about the issue and wants to get it resolved but cant get GM on board to assist in finding a solution for this issue.
Please tell me this is not how GM is running it's business model these days??? With GM being in the news right now over recall issues GM needs to take issues like this seriously and find a fix and make it right for the consumer. Not all of us get a vehicle given to us as GM upper level management is given, so it is hard for me to take a $53k truck and just toss it aside because of quality control issues that GM refuses to look into and or find a resolution to fix it correctly.
Can someone please looks into this and get back in touch with me? As much as I love the truck, the radio reception is horrid to the point of making me want to start the lemon law process on this truck. There is no reason I should have to head down that road if we can just get GM on board to acknowledge there is a issue and find a fix for it.
Just for reference here is the web blog, GM has some CSR reps on this board so I am sure you should be able to get the login for the GM account to read the posts.
I want to end this in saying I really do want to have faith in GM doing right on this issue, so is anyone with GM willing to step up to the plate and prove me right?

Looks like out of the 6 email addresses I used, only 3 kicked back. Seems I was able to email the CEO Mary Barra, Chuck Stevens, and Alan Batey. Hopefully this will go somewhere and help.

Where did you find the email addresses of GM execs ?

I'm hoping you get a response to that email. I had my truck brought in as well and have had it for a week today. I love the truck other than the radio reception and hoping for a tad better mpg after break in. This radio is worse than any car I've owned or ridden in. The signal drops in town or outside and as stated by others go in and out in a 5 ft distance with no terrain, elevation or building change.

I'll be keeping an eye here and talking with service dept. soon.

Ok, good news.

I was contacted by someone from upper level GM today that is in a position to assist with this concern. From my conversation with this person I am certain there is a fix ready to resolve the issue. We are going to try and get my truck into the dealer in the next week or so and check a couple of things. From there the GM tech people, the dealership and the person that contacted me are going to try and get the radio reception fixed.

I will keep you all updated as we go along this process, let me see where it goes and if it fixes the issue before anyone else contacts GM. The impression I got is this is a early build issue with the trucks, mine was made 11/2013. Once I know for sure it is fixed I will share the details with everyone to take to their dealer to try and get their systems fixed as well.

Who the execs are is public knowledge, I knew the email format since myself, my mother and my father all worked for GM.

I can find the execs, but not their email.

The email addresses are not public knowledge. I already knew the format so I just added in the people and went from there.

    • Maybe, but it seems he is the only one that has backed up data to prove what he is stating. I think he is doing this more because he enjoys it and wants to get the information out to us. He's got the knowledge and access to the proper equipment and having the funds doesn't hurt.  I would love to do what he is doing and would do it if and when I hit the Powerball.  I'm not a Tribologist by any means but love to learn what I can.   I would bet there would be doubting people out there if a completely independent lab with high quality work and highly respected in the automotive industry, put out information like this.  The world can't be pleased, one just has to take the information that they are given, do more of their own research to find actual lab data to back up what they are trying to figure/find out.  Most don't bother, they just want to believe what they first see.     I don't have the minimax but my 6.2 in my 2019 Silverado with 64k miles shows excellent UOA results with 0w-20 and for my own purposes 5w-20.  Since not much of a change using 5w. I liked the data sheet information on the SS 5w-20 and figured I would give it a try.  Still the same viscosity at 100℃.   In the end we all just do what makes us happy, life is too short to get upset over trivial social media.   On a side note, I do feel GM has dropped the ball and just cares about the bottom dollar and not quality anymore.  "Like a Rock" has been long gone.  Seems "Built Ford Tough" has as well.
    • Better than stock but that's like putting lipstick on a pig
    • Hello, my 3 month old Sierra Elevation wont recognize a trailer with electric brakes? All the lights work correctly, but no power to the brakes?   This is the factory installed brake controller. If you manually push the knob, the display shows the power % but does not light up like my 2022 silverado.   I have an appointment with the dealer, but was checking to see if anyone else has seen this issue.    Thanks,
    • Been using SS 0w-20 from new, but wanted to change to the 5w-20 because I liked the data on the data sheet, to me it seems like a little better product. But as you can see, not much difference. This is also with running a mix of 10 gallons E85 to a tank topped with 93. It isn't a flex fuel vehicle so any higher I get a CEL for running lean on both banks. Yes my mileage takes a hit. Instead of 20 mpg I normally get on trips I get 17mpg. This is also using EaO17 filter.  What is amazing is I have the AMSOIL cone filter on it since I have the GM Performance intake installed and that air filter has 44k miles on it.  I just take it out and shop vac it off once a year.  I use the upholstery tool on my shop vac.  Works well.
    • So, lot's of googling and reading, and a trial fit found, that indeed they hit the newer fatter caliper. I did some re-testing today, and found just 3/16" worth of washers was enough for the wheel to spin freely. I added 2 more on each, and again it spun freely. Tested lock to lock with the 4 washers, about 5/16" not quite the 3/8" Im considering, but pretty close. No issues. I've been looking at the BORA .375" spacers and using extended lugnuts to get back lost thread due to the spacer. All the ET lugs I've seen are all .33" reach inside the wheel lug holes. For those that don't like spacers or think they're unsafe, I think it depends on what type of spacers you're using and making sure you get good quality hubcentric ones, and if you're using bolt on ones, regular mainenance, checking the spacer lugs. Not wanting or needing that much spread. Looking for the minimum that will let me run these rims and tires.  it does look to stick out a little, but I really want put these on. and use the stock all-terrains in the winter.
