Just dropped the truck off for FM reception issues. The tech confirmed that there was something going on and he would be tearing it apart. As always I will report back with my findings...

Everyone there is no need to panic about your radios! Please stop worrying! My FM reception concerns about the radio going in and out of HD as well as the static noise coming through the speakers...There is a bulletin out on this and it is "normal"....GM's "normal" and my "normal" have 2 entirely different meanings. I was told that maybe my HD signal where I live is weak. The wife's 2013 Acadia has zero issues getting and maintaining an HD signal, its quite clear as a matter of fact. When I brought this up to the dealer he said I cannot compare how an Acadia and Silverado handle HD signals...maybe the Acadia has a stronger receiver....ya think?? I asked about the static coming through my radio even when its not in HD; this too is apparently "normal".

Well I guess I will just go out and throw a new headunit in the truck like I did when I was a teenager....oh wait you can't change out the radios on these trucks unless you want to lose the touch screen....I really expected better quality than this!!!

mines worked fine so far. did try a stubby antenna that others on here have. cut reception in half or more put the factory one back on all is well again. I did notice factory antenna was super tight to the point I was concerned post would snap when I removed it

Hard to believe that GM would deliver a radio like this in 2014. Worst reception of any radio I have ever had in a vehicle. HD radio going in and out is not normal.

By whose standards?

GM field tech and GM Dealer standards.

We need to get the guy from the company that knows about the concern to chime in on this forum and then take that info and send it over to GM Corp. I wonder how many lemon law buy backs GM needs to have before they acknowledge the issue and provide a proper fix?

I as well am experiencing FM reception issues and have had it to the dealer several times and keep getting the same answer that there is nothing wrong!

The sad thing is I like the truck except for the audio system. I have been to the dealer many times, (I even made them a video showing how bad the reception was), I have talked with GM and have a trouble report number. To be honest I don't believe GM is concerned about this problem. With all the new computer system its not like the old days were you could change out the head unit. I am hoping that an after market supplier can come up with a solution. I hope one of us finds a solution so we can get our audio systems working properly.

They have lot bigger problems they are facing now.

I had a big day with the truck today. It was in the shop for some warranty issues, the radio reception being one of them. To fix the issue I had with my screen blacking out there is a new update for that, the update also fixes the radio issue. It was clear as a bell on the way home.

My SIlverado was at dealership again yesterday also for radio reception issues. GM and field service engineer attempted a fix with a antenna booster, but it did not work. Not sure what will happen now, I will have to wait till next week to find out. I requested a buy back. This is at least 6 times I have had it in for FM issue, also have been in contact with GM.

I am not sure about a buy back since I really like the truck, but the FM reception is horrible. My service manager drove a newer built truck and compared it to mine, he said the newer built vehicle does have better FM reception than my truck. My truck was an early build model. I don't want to loose out on a buy back, since I have over $1,000 in accessories I added. Also, when I purchased truck I had a trade worth $26,000, so I would loose the tax difference I saved. Also would loose $2,000 worth of GM card points.
