Still working on an emblem plan to do in the middle circle over the throttle body but it looks a bit nicer in the engine bay for now. This is on my 2014 Silverado LTZ Z71 with a 5.3L

Here is the logo that I made to hold me over for now. 3.5" is the diameter of the emblem that was there before.

Any suggestions let me know.

Gm part number: 12643295

Does anyone have the part number for the black cover? I did a google search and saw pics of the silver and black covers.

Cover arrived and it's installed. Sorry about the picture quality.

JimmyVal - how did you do the mod? Looks like it was made that way.

The engine cover is actually from a Cadillac SUV. It fits perfectly as both the 6.2 and 5.3 engine have the posts to mount the cover already on the engine. The real issue is with the emblem that comes on the Cadillac cover. It is domed, as is the mating surface on the cover itself. Removal of the original emblem is straight forward. Carefully pry it off.

The Chevy / GMC replacement emblems are actually for wheels, and are flat. The GMC emblem is actually plastic with a clear coating over the entire top of the emblem. It has an adhesive backing. Unfortunately, the emblem does not want to bend around a dome surface. It will buckle in spots, and those surfaces will not come in contact with the dome surface of the cover.

What I did, and it's not ideal, is to buy 3M double sided adhesive tape at Hope Depot, 1 inch wide and approximately 1/32th inch thick. I applied sections of this tape around the outer edge of the emblem. I did not apply it to the center. This effectively gave me 1/16th 'dome forgiveness' (I have no idea what else to call it). In effect, I didn't have to force the emblem to curve as much to reach the contact surface of the cover. I didn't want to double up on the tape as I was worried about how it would look when viewed from the side.

You get one shot at applying the emblem as the tape has no forgiveness. It sticks really well. Despite the added tape however, there's still subtle waves in the emblem due to the curvature. I know it's there, but others who've looked at it didn't see it until I pointed it out. Under the wave surface, the tape is sticking to the cover.

Other have most likely used a different technique. There's a number of examples in this thread.
