Big Tires, or Big Wheels?

So I have 24s on my truck, I really wanted to do a lift kit with big tires but being I live in San Francisco and barely fit into any parking garages already it was bigger rims and stock height. I've actually thought of lowering it so I could fit into more garages LOL but to each there own. Get what you like

In my opinion, a smaller wheel and bigger tire is better. They are trucks, after all.

20s are about as big as I personally like regardless of tire size. Given the choice of stay with 17s or 18s though probably.

Seems like your comparing a smaller rim with off-road tire vs bigger rim with off-road tire. My last truck I went with bigger rims and all terrains since the truck was 2wd and 20inch tires were cheaper. My one I have now I left factory rims on and got a mud tire which was 100 bucks cheaper than a 20 inch tire.

I don't like wheels that are too big or too small. No bigger than 22's, no smaller than 20's IMO.

Lol. I remember when 17s were considered too big of a wheel. 15s were the rage if you didn't want a bad ride and ghetto look.

 

I'm only 29 but when I first started driving I do remember when nobody had 20s or bigger except for the ghetto rims and that's when 20s were "the thing" to have if you go for the ghetto bling look lol. I'm still a little old fashion though, I don't care for anything bigger than 18s on a truck, 20-22 is fine if you have 44" or bigger tires. I just like sidewall, even on classic muscle cars. As for newer performance cars I don't mind lo pro tires unless it's only like an inch of sidewall lol.

Personally, what's worse is the "high risers" where they actually lift a car just to make full size truck/SUV size rims fit on a car. Some even trim the fenders. Too me it's "ghetto", like the bling bling 20s and 22s were a few years ago. I know everybody has different taste so this is just my opinion, I just don't understand how this some people think some things actually look good. Same as the "ricers" (I know the difference between a ricer and tuner) make their little 4 bangers sound like a weed eater and worse if it has a lot of popping. I've had farts that sounded better than some ricers. Thankfully I'm seeing less and less of them weed eater sounding 4 bangers with a Boeing 747 wing on the back. They don't realize that you have to be going over maybe 100 mph for a wing to really help with downforce and I laughed when I saw a big ass wing on a FWD car. Downforce on the back pushing down will naturally pull up on the front giving them less traction. Then some would say that the wing is for downforce on the rear for turning, which since wings only help once you go above about 100 mph I doubt they can even take those cars over 100 mph in the middle of a turn. If the spoiler or wing looks like it could have came on the car from the factory then it doesn't look bad, it's just the ugly wings that are 2 feet off the car that I don't like. The only high wing that looks good is the ones on the Superbird and Charger Daytona 40 years ago and they were only high to clear the trunk and it helped in NASCAR races.

 

But hey, what do I know lol.
