Rolling down windows and remote start

Recommended Posts

I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado LTZ. Due to the cold weather here in WY I am a big fan of the remote start. I started my truck using the phone app the other night and when I went out to the vehicle all my windows were rolled down. I researched online and it seems that some vehicles have a feature that allows you to roll down all the windows from the key fob. I checked my vehicle settings under My Link and saw that this option was enabled. The problem that I have is that I cannot replicate what I did to get this to work.

My question is how do I use my phone, my key fob or combination of both to roll down the windows? My fear is that if I leave this setting enabled I might accidentally roll my windows down in a rain or snowstorm.

If equipped with auto mirror folding,

pressing and holding (unlock) for

one second will unfold the mirrors.

The auto mirror folding feature will

not operate unless it is enabled.

See Vehicle Personalization on

page 5-46.

On some models, press, release

and then press and hold (unlock) to open

all of the windows. Pressing the

button again will stop the windows

Thanks redwngr.

The mirrors do work on my vehicle. The strange thing about the windows is I have tried rolling down with the unlock button on the fob by pressing it once and then pressing and holding it. I can't get it to work. Do you know if the truck needs to be started with the remote start before this will work or possibly engaging the remote start disables the feature?

If your vehicle has the capability.... it has to be enabled first before it'll work. To fold in the mirrors i press lock twice, to unfold its unlock twice. Press and hold the unlock button to lower all 4 windows.

Not trying to be a smart ass, but that little book in the glove box tells you all about it under "vehicle personalization".

Thanks hutch08. I appreciate the help. The only reason that I even posted the question is because the "little book" in my glove box does not give any instructions on how to lower the windows, only how to set the setting to "on" or "off". Also, thanks for not "trying" to be a smart ass. I don't know if the All-Terrain has a slightly different manual than mine or if my manual is an earlier version.

I just checked and pressing the unlock button and holding it did work, thanks again!

I'd just disable it in the winter, I see no reason to have the windows down in the winter. Also I wouldn't want the windows all the way down unless I can see the truck with my own 2 eyes, doesn't matter if it's my '14 or was my old 98 and doesn't matter how hot it is. I'd just disable it to be honest.

I copied it out of that "little book" (well out of an electronic copy of it!)

I just read my original post and I don't know what the heck a Sierra Silverado is. I meant a Chevy Silverado. I traded in my GMC Sierra for the new truck and must have just brain farted.

Thanks again for all the help on here. I am going to disable it for now and maybe use it next summer.

Considering the windows freeze up (at least where I am) there is no chance my windows would ever open on their own...........many winter mornings I need to use putty knife to break the ice seal (at door weatherseal) to get window to open by the time I get to the coffeshop drivethru.
