Can't wait to get more information on the next generation 2019 Silverado after seeing your first look last month? Good news! You won't have to wait much longer.

With the 2018 Detroit Auto Show aka North American International Auto Show starting next week, Chevrolet had hoped to preempt most of the other automakers by showing off the 2019 Silverado to journalists this Saturday night, January 13th. Unfortunately, Ford beat them to the punch today, releasing their light-duty diesel for the F-150 a full week ahead of the show.

Does Chevrolet have their own surprise waiting in the wings? Will we see the elusive 4.5L Duramax anywhere on the next gen's spec sheet? What kind of horsepower will the new 5.3L produce? Will there even be a new 5.3L? What does the interior look like?

We all find out when the event tees off at 6pm this Saturday night (Jan 13th, 2018). Expect us to be able to post first images shortly thereafter with a full look into all the new info in the days to follow.

We were invited to the media only event but won't be in Detroit so we unfortunately can't attend. That said, we'll be covering this one from our desk live instead. See you here Saturday night!

Ford front facia, Ford wheel wells, and the body lines that look like a '51 GM LaSabre concept car. GMC, please don't let me down.

The engines and suspensions will be interesting.  The lack of power of the 5.3 makes me spend an extra $2k to get the 6.2.  I test drove a new Tahoe twice trying to like the 5.3 again and bought the GMC because they had 6.2 and magnetic ride control.

Precisely why I went with the 6.2L in the Silverado 1500: more power, better towing.  Love it.

I didn't even bother to test drive the 5.3, until after I got my truck.  It's honestly adequate for your average truck buyer, but it does not even come close to putting a smile on your face like the 6.2

I really wish they'd put that shark fin antenna in the back center of the top of the cab and not in that oddly looking placement over the driver.
