Towed uphill for 70 miles, then back down (~200 feet to 5800 or so)...  so MPG actually came out better than I expected.. ended up something in the range of 12.5MPG...

Affected a bit by 4High for the first few miles on the way back down, then 4 Auto for a bit....

Box Trailer, probably in the 3000 pound range.. full of Scout Gear..

According to the trailer app, 12.2 MPG.  I assume it's close, because the MPG on the truck is very close when hand calculated.  2019 4X4Silverado LTZ with 5.3, 8-speed and 3.23 gears,  the majority of that was pretty flat.  Only around 200 miles so far.  Pulling a 3 horse trailer that weights around 3700 empty plus two horses (another 1800-2000 lbs). Call it 5500-6000 lbs.

NO I’m not sick of the “new truck”...yet

it said 17 mpg right on the window sticker.  I wanted (Really bc of the miles I drive annually I have to trade every 2-3 years) a new toy...and this is what I get!

2020 Trail boss 5.3, Towing 8x12 flat nosed enclosed motorcycle trailer with 800+ pounds CVO Road Glide..280 mile round trip 90% Highway 70-78 MPH... I got 9.9 MPG... My 5.7 Liter Tundra with 7 inch BDS lift with 35x12.5x20 used to average 12.2 with basically the same towing... I’m not really worried about MPG, But this truck definitely sucks gas down... 4800+ miles since brand new with all types of driving I’m getting 15.1MPG per the truck computer...

That's about where I am after 5000 miles. Slightly disappointed. I am lucky to get low 14's around city and I drive like a grandpa.

2020 1500 LT, crew cab, 4x4, 3.0 I6 diesel, 10 speed with 3.73 final. I’ve averaged high as 25 to 27 MPG unloaded when driving on the interstate. Around 16 to 18 city driving. I bought this truck specifically for pulling a travel trailer. Loaded, the trailer weighs close to 5,800 lbs. I carry an additional 200 or so pounds of camping gear in the truck bed. Our longest trip pulling the trailer has been a little over 120 miles resulting in 13.2 MPG. On this trip I intentionally kept speed under 65 MPH. We have gotten as little as 11.5 MPG while driving 65  to 70 MPH on the interstate. Terrain that we travel, interstate and city,  is mostly rolling hills and valleys with a lot of steep grades. I’m very pleased with the trucks power and fuel performance.

According to the truck computer, I've averaged 16.5 mpg while towing a 21 foot Phoenix bass boat from Stuart/Martinsville VA area to Philpott lake and Smith Mountain lake. Boat, motor and trailer combo weigh approximately 4000 lbs. Truck is a 2020 Chevy LTZ with the 3.0 diesel.

2019 6.2 10 speed 3.23 gears. Pulling my fish house / camper around 7500 lbs loaded with about 500lbs of gear in the bed. I have been getting about 8.2mpg. That is my 2014 6.2 6 speed 3.2 gears in the pics which I also got around 8mpg. Most trips I put on about 600 miles round trip.

    • And to top it off finally.......................these small GM LS engines are designed to SPIN!!!!!  Why choke them down to just off idle for cruising.  Why/how the "bean counters" have influenced the "engineering department" at GM is beyond me.   They took a solid platform of an engine and turned into a joke in OEM form!!!
    • Atlas,   Then following your logic we can't believe any story that the MSM produces? I mean it's documented they heavily donate to Democrat candidates. Vote Democrat in high percentages. Many MSM talents are married to Democrat politicians, Gov. employees. That goes for on-air and off, personalities and reporters. So they would all be biased and nothing they produce is to be believed in your mind?   Again the article simply was about ways AI can be used for pricing products. Nothing discounted current situations as a factor.    Again keep looking through your left/right lenses. I don't live my life that way.   And as a heads up this thread will be cleaned up again as much of this is off topic and is receiving
    • Yes, and only a couple years before delivery. 🙄
    • So you're saying toss the baby out with the bathwater? @txab posted article was her take on how AI can be used to manipulate pricing as it already does and has been rebuked by the judiciasry in housing. How AI can be and is used to maximize refinery or even Amazon operations all of which are true but because she is who she is; that makes what she says about what is true, false? Is that something akin to Pre-justice aka prejudice?    Look, I'm first in line to approach all information with caution just because we live in a world where people like to lie about someone or something with such a straight face and in such volume that it makes digging to the truth wearisome. Meaning I understand the skepticisms but if I were to toss out everything a person is for a view they hold then my pool of people to draw wisdom from would be non-existent and I'd be forced to reinvent the wheel daily. Not practical.    "Be innocent as a dove but as cautious as a serpent."    Test each word. Every good lie is part truth or no one would believe it. Find the truth in it and reject what isn't.    On this one, AI is being used to do what has been done by hand for hundreds of years already but at such speed, the point of a computer, that it is more easily monetized. This one wasn't that hard a lift.    I wrote a few formulas in a Lotus 123 program decades ago, a series of linked Macros actually, that allowed a daily inventory to be turned into a running P&L and production plan. Something that took three departments a week to assemble now took the time it takes to input the 'daily changes' in inventory. Later that was ungraded to the more powerful Excel program an and integrated with bar code scanning, inventory to supply was done once per shift. It had a huge impact on production scheduling, Seamless interruption flexibility, inventory error reduction, raw materials cost effective utilization and scrap reduction. Huge improvement in the bottom line. I spent months on that and AI could have done it in minutes. So yes, it not only can be used, they would be foolish to not try. The legality, ethics and morality are not the domain of AI. Humans need to keep a reign on it.
