I normally get vehicles without sunroofs, because the headliner height is lower on vehicles with sunroofs and the headliner presses the left side of my head to the right in the driver seat (confirmed this in a 2019 3500HD on the dealers lot last month). I'm 6'3" and it's mostly in my torso. Does anyone know if the height of the headliner in the front cabin becomes equal with the rear headliner height if the sunroof is not optioned in (in other words without the sunroof is the headliner is closer to the actual roof panel since it's not hiding the sunroof mechanical under it)?

I'm hoping to order my 2020 GMC 3500HD Denali SRW soon and this is the one option I'm not sure about yet. I don't care about resell or trade in values because I'm keeping this truck for at least the next 20 years, but if there is no height difference I might as well get the sunroof and pre-pay for my chiropractor.

I can’t speak for the 2020 unfortunately but in the previous generation (15-19) the headliner was the same height regardless of sunroof or not.

Well, that gives me clue towards the answer for 2020. Thanks for the reply.

Looks like GM thinks there is a little more front headroom a 2020 front, a little less in the rear

2020

    Head room,  front     43.03 (1093)
     Head room,  rear     40.12 (1019)

2019

    Head room,  front     42.8 (1087)
     Head room,  rear     40.5 (1029)

Yeah, I have all the new specs (and the fleet guide) and I'm hoping the half inch will make a difference. I didn't know if anyone had see any of the GMC or Chevy 2020 HDs w/o the sunroof in person that might be able to give an 'eyes on' opinion. Just trying to avoid felling like this while driving:

So after sitting in a GMC 2500HD Sierra Denali on Sunday, I can confirm that the headliner height with the sunroof has more room than the 2019 1500 Sierra Denali counterpart. So now I now I will sit pretty with a sunroof optioned in.

Don't forget the seat can be adjusted up and down....

I haven’t. I’m pretty tall and most of my height is in my torso. So even adjusting the seat down sometimes, it has been a problem in the past. That’s why I was asking originally.

The loss of headroom is significant with a sunroof.  I never buy a GM pickup with a sunroof as my head hits the edge of the sunroof liner.  Very bother some, without a sunroof I have lots of headroom.
