All I can say is that after installing my TRS 55W kit I'm super impressed. The amount of light output is unbelievable.

I was worried that I would still need to do the FXR upgrade but I'm thinking that I don't need to worry about that for now.

Thanks for the all tips on this thread.

Confirmed.

Ultra HID w/ CAN-bus from DDM work without a harness. Super easyon the 2014 Silverado LTZ too!

Are u running a relay harness or literally just the kit?

Just the kit, no harness. You don't even need to ground it although I did. This truck doesn't send a pulsing ground signal.

I have a question that hopefully someone can help with. I plan on getting me the oe style projector headlights but run LED pods as the high beams but got a question for what to run as the low beams. Should I go HID or LED bulbs? I know some have mixed reviews of both but too LED bulbs now have heat sink ribbon type thing instead of the fans now too but which is the best option? I don't plan on retrofitting. Just looking for a simple plug and play

Hid. Leds are bright but just don't give off as much light.

I recently installed TRS's Morimoto kit for my 2014 Silverado with projector headlights. The lights are super bright, but the pattern seems off. Does anyone else's light pattern look like this with the stock projectors? I did order the H11b lights, and they are seated completely in the housing from what I can tell...

Your bulbs are upside down. Flip them over and you'll be good.

Some fxr action and switchback boards.

More info on this mod please, didn't realize the strips on the top and bottom can be replaced with a better setup.

I finally got a chance this weekend to look at the lights in more detail to figure out the problem. It turned out that the bulbs weren't upside down, but they were turned slightly so that the wire was facing between 7 o'clock and 8 o'clock. I turned the bulbs so that the wire was facing directly to 6 o'clock and now I have a nice cutoff line with no shadows in the beam. Also, the problem of the light pattern wiggling is now gone. I figure the light pattern wiggling was due to the wire vibrating and I was seeing the movement from it in the shadow.

I hope that helps someone who doesn't have that clean cutoff line or a light pattern with shadows in it.

It's Diode Dynamics direct replacement boards. Direct PNP swap but you will need to open the headlights to do it.

Man been a while since I've been to the forums. Having a problem with my HID's again.. Intermittently the passenger side will not come on immediately, I have to turn them off and on a couple times to get it to come on. It did it about a month ago and I swapped the ballast to see if the problem would follow and no luck. I moved some wires around and chocked it up to a pinched wire. Well now the problem is back. I'm displaced right now too with all the flooding in Texas so I don't have a lot of time to take it apart and look at it. Just seeing if anyone else had a similar experience..

My first guess would be to check the grounds. I developed a loud buzzing on a very humid evening here in SC. I opened up the hood and began reworking my ground at the radiator support. So far no problems.

Anyone go from factory standard lights like on my Silverado LT Z71 to Projection or put the mean looking 2015/16 headlamp assy in a 2014. Looks like they will fit with the factory hood. I can be reached directly at [email protected]

    • That makes sense, and I think you are describing the real product problem. Capturing data is the easy part. If the owner or technician has to manually dig through five minutes of millisecond-level logs, the product has already failed. The device would be at the ECM harness, not at the OBD port, so I agree that data retrieval and event marking need to be thought through carefully. The way I am thinking about the architecture is: The recorder itself should not depend on a phone, app, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or cloud connection to capture the event. It should always keep a local rolling buffer and lock the event locally. A button, phone app, or small cabin device would only act as an event marker. If the driver feels a stumble and presses the button 10–30 seconds later, the pre-buffer has to already contain the useful data. For data retrieval, the practical options would be a sealed service USB lead, Wi-Fi download, or a phone/cabin companion device. I would not expect the owner to remove the ECM-side module or work with raw files directly. The cloud or AI side would be for interpretation, not for capturing the event. The truck may have no connection when the issue happens, so the evidence has to be saved locally first. After that, cloud processing could help decode the data, compare it against baselines, and generate a readable report. For the first version, I would keep the automatic triggers conservative and objective: driver event marker bus-off error passive voltage drop / brownout device reset FIFO or queue overflow a normally periodic message disappearing side-to-side communication mismatch, if the topology supports that For “learning normal,” I agree with your point, but I would not want to overclaim it as automatic root-cause diagnosis at first. A realistic first step would be learned baseline comparison for that specific vehicle and operating condition. For example, a value would only be compared against similar conditions: RPM range load / MAP throttle position gear / vehicle speed coolant and oil temperature battery voltage AFM/DFM state, if decoded and validated Then the report could flag things like: this periodic message disappeared compared with its normal timing this value deviated from this vehicle’s normal range under similar conditions the same abnormal pattern repeated after the same type of event the anomaly occurred together with voltage, oil-pressure, misfire, or communication changes But I would still call that “abnormal pattern detected,” not “replace this part,” unless there is enough validated repair data behind it. So the intended product would not be “here is a huge log.” It would need to be an event package: what triggered the capture how much pre/post data was preserved what changed before and after the event whether the device itself reset, overflowed, or saw a bus error selected graphs around the event raw data only as supporting evidence From your perspective, what would make this kind of report useful instead of just another datalog? For example: What are the top 5 parameters or events you would want highlighted first? Would you trust a learned baseline for that specific vehicle, or would you prefer fixed thresholds? How much false-positive flagging would be acceptable before you stopped looking at the reports? What would a one-page report need to show for an independent shop to take it seriously? For misfire, AFM/DFM, oil pressure, or U-code complaints, what would you want the tool to flag automatically?
