I'm in the same boat. I think the gm twins are the best looking trucks out there but I would love to test drive a tundra. My only concern with the Tundra is that they are due for a model update and I would hate to buy one only to have it look outdated in a couple of years. But I guess that's what happened with GM when they decided to facelift the 2016s and make my 2 yr old truck look outdated haha

Tundra could get a refresh in 2017 with a possible diesel and will be redesigned in 2019.

Back to the shop one more time. They changed the ring and pinion and said the truck was within specs. Doesn't shake like it did but it has a vibration that comes and goes, enough to shake my coke out of the bottle. I am at the end of my rope on this truck.

Anybody have chrome plastic clad wheels that this is happening to? Steel wheels? Anybody tried slamming their truck or extending the air dam down? Perhaps it is air velocity related? I don't have it but am interested in what people have tried. Things i've seen so far: Drive shafts, ring gears, differentials, wheels, tires, body mounts, motor mounts, tranny mounts. Things i have not seen: transfer cases, cv shafts, transfer case drive shaft, bearing hubs. not much left after these components is there? My condolences to those with this issue.

Don't count your blessings yet, many of them develop the vibration issues after 1500 to 2000 miles.

Well i am sad to say I have to add my name to this list.

Just purchased a new 2015 double cab LT 5.3 2wd. I have owned several GM trucks and bought this one without a test drive.(stupid me)

2200 miles, 2 dealers, and 3 dealer visits already and still 75mph shake. The selling dealer is incompetent and has dropped the ball several times and is not taking my situation serious enough for me. I am contacting GM customer service to hopeful get someone to take this issue as a priority for me. So unhappy with new purchase because of this situation, and I love GM truck and want to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Tried a few things, got the shakes still.

-clamped leafs 6-7" behind axle

-torqued u-bolts to 78ft/lbs

-retorqued body mounts to 120ft/lbs, front 2 to 60ft/lbs

Time to take it to the dealership and have them tell me all is within spec, again. Can't wait.

So what do you suggest? A 3000 mile test drive before you buy?

Sorry to hear it, but just a heads up gm customer service isn't worth a shit. They might help set up an appointment but they are low level and pretty much useless, just like the rest of the company from the top down.

Try clamping in front of the axle 6". Just curious I have read somewhere before that it helps with the driveline clunk, never know might work. I was planning on trying it but haven't got any clamps yet. I have tighten the u-bolts and loosened the body mounts and retighten. It seemed to have helped hasn't shook as bad since its very slight now and only sometimes.

When the diehards figure it out and solve these problems for everyone if this is the worst thing that happens in 100000 miles I will continue to purchase gm products. 6 people at work have gm products and don't have this issue

The reason I ask is due to content laws maybe the Canadian built parts for these trucks here aren't having the same issues. Just spitballing here guys

    • Because that is IDIOTIC, much like this question. They've already been forced to do it by past administrations - why would you roll that back when it's a GOOD thing?  WHO IS ARGUING FOR LOWER MILEAGE???? 😂  NOBODY IS!!   I'm certainly not! What I want is RELIABLE vehicles again that are worth the price paid!    I don't get your logic here ...   In 2003 I paid $2,200 for our '86 Grand Marquis. It's STILL running and I've never been inside the engine, aside for the timing cover since it was leaking, so I threw a new timing set in since that makes sense. Transmission is ORIGINAL. Electric pump in the gas tank is ORIGINAL. Rear end is ORIGINAL. I'd have to hit my head REAL hard to want to pay $60k or more for a car that still can't come close to the comfort, seating and storage space, or reliability of this one. Nothing is even in the ball park! Hundreds of thousands of brands and models have been built and sent to the crusher while this one keeps on going!   https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   I've got a whole fleet of cars, motorcycles, and a truck close to this age for summer and winter. No one could pay me enough to buy anything built this century. I have zero use for any it.
    • Since I'm the one who has to fix them when they break, I'll take vehicles over 30 years old all day, EVERY day, over ANY modern crap. Have you attempted any repairs on anything built after 2006? It's a friggin nightmare, and gets worse the newer the model year.    If I had the will or desire, I can make any car of any age outside of a Model T (I don't have THAT much will ...) just as powerful, comfortable, and have all the tech the new stuff does, and get pretty close in mileage, too. I prefer SIMPLICITY. The less the vehicle has, the less to fix WHEN it breaks, not IF.   I'm glad you snot-nosed punks don't like them. More for us, plus that keeps the prices from climbing more than they already have.👍
    • Bringing this thread back on topic. I just noticed the incredible lack of bright chrome across the entire new lineup. Even the Denali has tinted the brightwork in the grille and has none elsewhere. None of them have chrome bumpers. As far as I can tell there aren't even chrome mirror caps. I'm curious if this also happens out back? Are there no chrome rear bumpers either? This is quite the departure for GMC.
