So whats the next step?

We need to call the rep at GM on Monday and find out. We want to give them a chance to guide us before we go behind their backs and call the BBB. So far our experience has been nothing but good. Long and time consuming, but good. I guess talks with GM and find out what they want to do. Now, I have to say our situation has been different. Our dealership genuinely WANTED to fix our vehicle, they did everything they could before the engineers even came. The fact that they only changed two tires and didn't even stick around to try it afterwards tells us they might have known our particular truck is a lost cause. Also keep in mind, in FL the lemon law is effective after three attempts and we were patient way beyond that in working with them to find a fix. Our truck was in for Vibes 5 or 6 times alone. Our dealership went above and beyond and who knows what went on behind the scenes but maybe they worked in our favor. Anyways, we shall see!

I have a 2014 Silverado Crew Cab LT Z71 4X4. The only mods I have done are a ready lift leveling kit and BFG All Terrain 285/60/18 tires. I have the same vibration issue as everyone else. There are LITERALLY thousands of posts across the internet about this topic and no one has found an answer yet. I know a lot of people have tried the buy back route, but has anyone thought of a class action law suit?

I have a 2014 Silverado Crew Cab LT Z71 4X4. The only mods I have done are a ready lift leveling kit and BFG All Terrain 285/60/18 tires. I have the same vibration issue as everyone else. There are LITERALLY thousands of posts across the internet about this topic and no one has found an answer yet. I know a lot of people have tried the buy back route, but has anyone thought of a class action law suit?

Thought about why it hasn't happened yet, but how to organize such a thing!?

Bigdeano on a different thread that I frequent posted the link to the lemon law attorney he contacted for his truck, I then contacted them to find out what the process is, how it works, how long it takes, what options I have available to me etc. I felt that they were very helpful, you may want to contact them aswell, I don't know for sure if they work in florida, but they may be able to point you to someone who does.

I spoke to Jason, he basically said I have for options when the time comes:

1) trade the truck and don't deal with it at all (play dumb about any issues with new dealer)

2) GM buys the truck from me (truck gets branded a lemon & based on the deal I got, I get screwed because I only get what I paid, and not what its actually worth - not happening)

3) GM exchanges it with a new one (truck gets branded a lemon & dealer moves all accessories over to new truck)

4) Settle with GM out of court, I get cash compensation (loss of full functionality, depreciated value due to issues, etc), and keep the truck (truck does NOT get branded a lemon, all warranties stay intact and I can then get rid of it anyway or keep it and hope they come up with fix, which is still covered under warranty and I keep any settlement I get from GM, he says the settlements are "thousands of dollars")

personally, options 1 & 4 are the ones I would be considering myself solely because of the deal that I got on the truck, Under normal circumstances, I'd take a replacement, but since every truck seems to have the same issues, I'm not even considering that option

I mentioned it at some point in the recent pages, if people want, I'll try to get some big law firm in Boston on board with it? but beware, any suit like this will kill the value of your truck once the news goes public. people only seem to be finding out about these issues after they buy their trucks, so right now, we could get out of them without killing ourselves on their value

I feel like no option is the perfect one! Ideally what we would want is a change of collateral and just have them give us a truck equal in MSRP. We really do love our Chevy and would ultimately like to find one that's "smooth as glass". Funny thing is, we've stopped a lot of people on the road around here with 2014/2015 silverados and sierras and have flat out asked them if they had vibration problems and we keep getting the same answer - "smooth as glass". One guy has a 2014 Sierra he purchased in Nov. 2014, put 50,000 miles on it already going back and forth to VA and his rides perfectly. The blood orchid exists, you just have to find it! The manager at our dealership already asked us to make sure and come back when we're looking for a new one and he told us we'll take 10 of them out till we find the smoothest one. So I'll give up when I've tried them all and they all vibrate. But I can't say 100% they all do it, because a lot of people we've spoken too said theirs doesn't :/ Edited by Bdkfl

Thats lucky of them, the dealer in my area is supposed to be the #1 ranked chevy dealer in the country, and allegedly is the #1 ranked customer retention after warranty is up for their service department. whether it's true or not, I have no idea, but thats what I've heard about them. but they say they have had the majority of trucks come back with vibration issues and everyone is complaining about it.

 

I was at the service garage that my family has been using for over a decade today and was talking with the techs there, one of them brought up how GM implemented the AFM system in the 80's with the Cadillacs', and discontinued it due to the same issues we have now, their next attempt was in the early 2000s with the 4.8 and 6.0 trucks, again same issues, and discontinued again. now they are on atleast their third attempt and guess what, you guessed it, same issues. they need to just put the dog out of its misery with this AFM idea, its probably never going to work properly, and just creates more issues.

 

as far as im concerned, when dealers are saying that "everyone is complaining about it" thats a huge problem, and the fact that the majority of the trucks seem to be having the issue, it makes me want to have nothing to do with GM. Don't get me wrong, I think it's one of the best looking trucks out there (I like the look more than the ford or the Ram), but if it shakes/ isn't operating properly, I don't want it, and whose to say that even if one is found without the shaking to start that it wont end up developing it. My truck started out as just the AFM vibration, but as I've driven more and more, I'm noticing more and more shaking at different speeds/ accelerating, and even the "smooth road shake" one person mentioned a few pages back (only felt it once though, possibly just a fluke, but the road was just paved a couple months ago, so it wasnt a bad road)

 

Like Iv'e said, I love the look of the truck, but I am very disappointed in the QC and as it has turned out the operation of the Truck, They are trying to figure out a fix, but I didnt buy a new truck to be constantly taking it to the shop until they figure it out

And all that is what worries us. It's exactly that. The ONLY thing that I'm thinking is that it's one assembly plant that's messed up. A manager at our dealership has a Equinox, never had a problem with it, not one. Same cars but assembled at a different plant, 15 - 20 recalls. We're going to drive them all like we stole them and hopefully find one that was built in a different plant and doesn't shake. The guy that put 50k miles in 9 months has had the hose on the AC come loose, and changed a set of tires. Nothing else. I don't want to loose my faith, but we're definitely paranoid. Plus it doesn't help we won't buy a dodge or ford. That leaves just Toyota and we're still not sure about the tundras! But we have to have a truck for work so there's no other choice. I'll keep you updated!

Bdkfl,I have a question,does your truck vibe continous when you're doing 70-75,or does it come and go? Great video's by the way,mine comes and goes at that speed.And i can't tell by the pic,Is your truck a DC or CC,DC's are built in Ft. Wayne IN. and CC's are built in Mexico.I believe both are having vibe issues so i believe both plants are using the same parts of 1 supplier.

Our vibrations are pretty constant when you keep a constant speed. It's a Double Cab. Thanks, tried to document things right in case I need it! Hopefully it can help others! I'm thinking it's an assembly issue somewhere because our steering stop was not lubed from factory, the differential and shaft were both built/assembled off spec and now there seems to be an issue with the leafs. We're seriously question what or who was doing what when our truck was being put together!!! I don't know. It could be anything at this point! Edited by Bdkfl

I drove a new '15 sierra ccsb today and on the highway i felt a weird "bumpy" feeling. I took the same highways home in the truck I drove to trade in and didnt feel it. Is there somewhere to look without reading 338 pages what exactly the vibration you all are getting is? My saleswoman said she's never heard of such a thing but after dealing with her i wouldn't trust her farther than I could throw her.

 

I test drove another few months back but it sold before i could test drive it again and dont remember feeling the bumpy/vibration. Since it wasn't felt in the my truck I doubt it was the road.

 

Edit - saw some the videos on last page and was far from as bad as you guys. Wondering if this truck will turn into that or if I was just being paranoid after hearing about vibration issues.

Bumpy feeling like your hopping? Most likely excessive road force. Ask the dealership to road force balance your tires.

If you read just a few pages back you'll see I just got my truck back from being with the GM engineers who road forced all tires, found two bad ones and ordered 4 to find 2 good ones. Truck still shakes like mad. It's not that, at least not for me. It's the chassis, the rear or axel. Something is not right on my vehicle and it's not the tires.

yea, I'm not a brand loyalist, so I have no issues changing, but that not to say I'm by any means happy about it. That being said, I'm not willing to spend this amount of money on a product that has problems or could develop the same problems that the others already have, which it seems is an issue for GM right now. I'll give GM another chance at some point in the future I'm sure. but right now, just clearly isn't their time as far as I'm concerned. I'll be going to check out the 15 Ram's and F-150's either tomorrow or later this week, and talk to the attorney again before I make the final decision, either way, I'll know by next weekend what I'm doing. I'll keep ya updated

But you have different issues than me! Maybe that's something! Haha! We had 14 Ram and didn't like the handling, and apparently the Fords are starting to come up with vibration issues too apparently. They all have their flaws, it's finding the lesser of the evils!
