I was looking Toyo MT 295/60/20 or duratrack 285/60/20

 

I am also debating between the 275/70/18 or 285/70/18 in the Toyo MT. The actual specs per the website are 33.6 x 11.0 and 34.1 x 11.4 respectively. I wonder if I can fit the 285 with a 2.5" level on the stock wheels?

 

The 295/60/20 in the MT you are looking at is 34.2 x 11.8.

An some people are running 35s but believe that is with the 2.5.

I'm running 33s hate the tire but love the look of her right now. 5c202cd2944a60eef29cab0c7333f000.jpg has a lean due too the parking lot lol

Why do you hate the tires. I'm looking at some 285/55/20 Terra grapplers to put on my '14 SLT

Hey guys, I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 V6 and I'm installing a 2 or 2.5 inch leveling kit. I want to put new tires and wheels on it but I would like the tires to be as big as possible without the chance of having to trim at all. I was thinking probably something like 285/60r20 but I also wanted to make sure that increasing the tire's size this much with a V6 won't be too hard on the engine. A few people have suggested not to go with E range or 10 ply tires. Anybody have any suggestions or experience with this?

So can i get a leveling kit if i have stock 22s? I am running BridgeStone Dueller A/T 285/45/22 and really want to get a 2-2.5 inch leveling kit and some Nitto Terra Grappler G2 285/50/22. Thoughts?

I went from a 285/65/18 to a 275/70/18 and they are still 10 ply and are actually taller by about 3/4", but the weight dropped a good bit and I can definitely tell a difference in performance. Acceleration is better, mpg has even improved.

 

Did you keep the same tire (KO2)? That would only be a 1 lb difference between the two load range E tires which shouldn't be very noticeable if at all. Not to mention going to a taller tire effectively reduces the gearing some which would slow acceleration (effectively wiping out the 1 lb difference).

Thanks. Did you notice a very big difference on ride quality and engine performance going from stock tires to 10 ply?

I'm looking at different front leveling options. I plan to attempt the install myself. If I go with a 2" kit that uses the bottom spacer only, will I need to loosen everything up or will I be able to get them in with minimal work?

One hour job. Loosen sway bar end link (don't remove all the way) loosen top nuts on strut (not the center one!) remove two bolts at strut bottom and slide the spacer in. Easy.

Here are 2 pictures with the Rough Country 2" Level with Bilstein front adjustable shocks set on the lowest setting. BFG All-terrain 305/65/18

 

 

From Post #2720 on page 182 in case someone else is interested.

 

Finally, after 182 pages, I see someone is running 305/65r18s on stockers. Would like to know more about this truck and any clearance or power issues with those great looking tires. Or from anyone else running 305/65 or 305/60 on stock 18s with a level. Seems like a beefier alternative to 285/65s. I'm guessing it works because BFGs tend to run narrow and very square with little sidewall bulge (section width).

Installed Bilsteins on all four, top setting.

Got an alignment, and also adjusted my headlights.

Took notes of before and after for fender wall heights.

 

Stock Rancho Shocks:

* Front Left -- 35.75"

* Front Right -- 35.75"

* Rear Left -- 39.25"

* Rear Right -- 38.75"

Bilstein Shocks:

* Front Left -- 37.75"

* Front Right -- 37.75"

* Rear Left -- 39.25"

* Rear Right -- 39.125"

 

1.5" of rake, but that's exactly what I wanted.

Waaaaay smoother than the stock Ranchos.

Night and day difference, great investment.

I had different tires. The difference between one tire to the other was about 9 lbs per corner. The old tires were 63 lbs and these are right around 54.

It's a pretty big difference.

 

And they are slightly taller, but I had the 285's before, so the gearing is similar to what it was then.

    • Conditions for Meeting a Cold Start   The ignition voltage is between 10 and 15 V. The barometric pressure (BARO) is more than 75 kPa. The engine coolant temperature (ECT) at start-up is less than 42°C (108°F). The intake air temperature (IAT) is between 2–32°C (36–90°F). The engine is OFF for greater than 6 hours or the following conditions must be met: The start-up IAT minus start-up ECT are within 12°C (22°F). The start-up ECT minus start-up IAT are within 50°C (90°F). Fuel level is between 25 and 75 %.   Circuit/System Verification Verify that all I/M System Status indicators report YES, and that no I/M Test DTCs are present.If any I/M Test DTCs are set Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle. If no I/M Test DTCs are set All OK. Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) System Set Procedure   Warning: Refer to Road Test Warning. Note: Do NOT touch the accelerator pedal until told to do so. A change in TP Sensor angle or an increase in engine speed may invalidate this portion of the test.   Note: An I/M Test DTC will not be stored or erased from the ECU except at the end of trip processing, which occurs 5 s after ignition OFF.   Ensure that the vehicle meets the conditions for a cold start listed above. If the EVAP I/M System Status indicator displays NO, perform the EVAP Service bay test if applicable. Turn OFF all of the accessories; HVAC system, other electrical loads, including aftermarket/add-on equipment, etc., and open the hood.   Set the vehicle parking brake and ensure the vehicle is in park for automatic transmission or neutral for manual transmission.   Start and idle the engine for 2 min.   Close the hood, release the parking brake and Accelerate at part throttle to 72–80 km/h (45–50 mph) with this speed maintained until the engine reaches operating temperature, 8–10 min.   Continue operation under these conditions for an additional 6 min.   Accelerate at part throttle to 90 km/h (55 mph) with this speed maintained for 2 min.   Release the accelerator pedal for at least 10 s. This will allow the vehicle to enter the decel fuel cut off.   Safely stop the vehicle, with the engine in drive for automatic or neutral with the clutch pedal depressed and parking brake applied for manual. Allow the vehicle to idle for 2 min.   Shift the vehicle to park for automatic and neutral for manual. Turn OFF the ignition and exit the vehicle. Do NOT disturb the vehicle for 45 min.   Observe the Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) System Status with a scan tool. All of the I/M System Status indicators should display YES.   If the EVAP I/M System Status indicator displays NO, turn OFF the ignition, ensure that the vehicle meets the conditions for a cold start, and repeat steps 6-11 three more times, or until the EVAP I/M System Status indicator transitions to YES. If the indicator continues to display NO, refer to the Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) System DTC Table to identify the DTCs that did not run.   If any of the I/M System Status indicators display NO, refer to the Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) System DTC Table for the indicator which did not display YES. The I/M System DTC Table identifies the DTCs associated with each I/M System Status Indicator.   Observe the I/M Test DTC information with a scan tool. Verify there are no I/M Test DTCs present. If an I/M Test DTC is set, diagnose the DTC using the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle and refer to Inspection/Maintenance System Check.   Observe the engine DTC information with a scan tool. Verify no DTCs are present. If a DTC is set, diagnose using the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle. After repairs, perform the Inspection/Maintenance Complete System Set Procedure to verify no further DTCs are set.       Looks like one procedure to me.  Repeated as necessary.
    • My 2020 AT4 6.2 has had the valve spring issue addressed at ~200 miles, front cover/pump replaced at 18k, water pump at 34k and idler pully at 65k.  I would agree with ditching by 100k unless you elect to go with upgraded hardware...say built 10l80 and an lt4 or l8p swap.
