Looking for feedback on the Cooper at3. Wear and snow traction etc. thinking about getting a set this week for my 2012 crew 4x4. I'm also thinking about getting a slightly larger size. 275/70/17 instead of stock 265/70/17. Both 6-ply. Think I'll notice any difference in power/mpg? I know it's only a slight bump in size, but I'm pretty sure I only have 3.08 gears with the 6 speed tranny. I appreciate any input.

I've had mine for about 5000 miles. Wearing well. Dry pavement is great. Mud and dirt don't bother them either. Haven't have them in the snow. They are very predictable in the rain too. Good AT tire so far.

I had a set for 11k miles on our '10 Silverado 1500 ccsb 4x4, 275/65/18 (stock was 265/65/18) I was very happy with them! 2 trips to Canada snowmobiling, interesting roads on the way there 1 trip, and the way back the 2nd trip! No issues at all, felt very confident with them- though I wasn't doing 90mph either!!! I would buy them again, IF they were available to fit our new '13 2500HD!!! Only reason for 11k on them was we traded in the 1500 for a 2500HD!

I never noticed a huge difference in mpg or power. I think more of the difference (mpg) was how I drove compared to the slightly larger tires. I did have the 3.42's though. I THINK you will be ok power wise.

11k miles, and I didn't see any noticeable wear, though most of the miles were highway. Heck, I had 20k on the factory tires, and Discount still gave me $100 trade in for them!

I have them on my 2500 express load range E. I like them very much. Very upset though my local cooper dealer just retired after three generations and over 70 years in business. Hate dealing with big chains, hope to find good independent shop. I like cooper, you will be happy with the at3.

I have them in 275/65/18 as well. No snow yet and maybe 10k miles or do. Had an interesting night a week or two ago with three panic stops for deer on curvy dark roads and they seem to require abs sooner than I remember being the case with stock bridgestones. Not totally sure though.

Thanks everyone. Lots of helpful info. I had BFG AT's on my last couple trucks, and didn't get much out of them. Good look but poor traction for the price. Useless once they get to half tread. I'm looking forward to getting the AT3, just need to decide what size I want.

See this post.

I was debating the same thing,I spent a few days trying to decide,In the end went with the P or standard load stock size black wall out,I don't tow or haul much,The 6 ply is a C range LT tire. The (4PLY) P or standard load was a better tire by the numbers when compared to the goodyears I took off to replace anyway,so I did not see the need to spend more $ per tire for the LT version.I also contiplated the larger +1 size, once again,I have read it should work with no rubbing but posts were conflicting about this, but I did not want to throw the speedo off either, take a chance on rubbing,or possible MPG loss,The C range LT weighs 47-50lbs. vs the standard load or p range tire weighing in at 41lbs which what the Good years weighed in at.So with all that being said it depends on how you use and drive the truck,if you go bigger you may see slight to no MPG loss using the LT tire with a +1 size from stock & you may or may not see MPG loss, and the speedo will be off by about 1mph or so.Hope this helps. But I do not think you will be disappointed with the tire, buy it.

I've been very happy with my Cooper AT3's. I went with the 18" version that the OP is considering. Only one size larger than stock, and in a 6 ply LT. I've put 20k on mine, with no complaints. Wet and dry traction is very good, and they are awesome in the snow. As for mud, I've only had them down a couple muddy farm roads during hunting season...so I can't really vouch for them when it comes to mud performance. They are wearing very evenly and are still nice & quiet...although I'm pretty anal when it comes to rotating. I didn't notice much change at all in the power/mpg department...but I only ran the stockers for like 2 days, haha. Sometimes I wish they looked a little more aggressive, but overall, I'm very pleased with them.
