Mine is quiet with the heat fan motor shutoff, but turn it on and I get wind noise from the driver door window leaking. It gets louder with the speed of the heater fan, I'm 60 years old and have had 6 or 7 new vehicles over the years and never had a window air leak like this Silverado. In fact I've been driving big trucks down the highway for about 36 years and I can't remember any of the trucks I've driven down the road, over the years having a wind leak like this truck.

that being said, it is annoying and noisy and I know what I hear. DO YOU

I love how quiet my truck is. I get in my wife's 07 Tahoe and think there's something wrong with it because of how loud it is compared to the Silverado. However, I have experienced the noise you refer to at the top of my drivers door. It's occurred two times, very briefly while at freeway speed and with an extremely strong (35-45mph) cross wind. I didn't think too much of it because of the extreme wind conditions. My 2012 Tacoma was worse in these types of conditions and almost every car I've ever driven had had some sort of unexpected noise while driving in extreme wind.

I know what you are saying. My wife has a 2013 Odyssey that we thought was very quiet. Above average, actually, compared to most other vehicles. That is, until I got the Silverado. The truck makes anything else seem noisier than it really is.

Planted bad reviews thread link? I guess the fanboy in you can't accept some of the new 2014 are not built well and that people are having problems? That's why you linked it?

I've been here for a while. NO brand builds a perfect truck! EVEN GM!

My truck super quiet. In fact, it is more quiet than my wife's Lincoln MKX at highway speeds. I had to drive a 2014 Lacrosse while the bed liner was getting put in my truck, I think the truck is every bit as quiet as the Buick. Very surprising!

I to have noticed a little bit of wind noise at the top of both doors depending on the crosswind. I am just a new member of this forum but have owned many new Sierra Z71s. My last was a 2008 that I never had a single problem or complaint with. That truck was perfect in every way. I traded it with only 100000 Kms on it because I needed to treat myself to the new Sierra. I do love this new truck so far but a few little problems are starting to surface. I did a lot of research before buying and thought if my 08 was that good, this one would be better. Not sure about that. Only have 1300 kms on it right now. Hopefully all will be good.

I also noticed significant wind noise while traveling at highway speeds in a strong cross wind. I reached up and squeezed the top of the door frame and the noise was reduced quite a bit. I'm a bit put out by this development since the rest of the truck is great but the wind noise was very loud and you could feel the air really coming in. I have not taken it to the dealer yet...wondering how may others are having this issue and if there is a fix?

As soon as I hit 65 MPH I get this loud wind noise coming from the vent. Happans whether the fan is on or not. Really annoying. At lower speed the truck is very quiet. I'll let dealer know at first service, may be they will have a handle on it by then.

Up date

Took my truck to the dealer, they replace the weather stripping again.

Tried it out no better?

They made another adjustment to the weather stripping, made it more positive .which is short is adding some extra material in behind the weather stripping to bring it out further.

Which I was not in favor of on a new truck but not other options.

They added the extra material a bit better but still very noticeable.

I guess I go back again,

Stay tuned!

This appears to be more of a workmanship issue than a design issue. Seems like the workmanship is hit and miss with these trucks, some having no problems, some being a disappointment to the owner. Check your weatherstripping carefully and make sure it is fully seated in the channel.

Open the door put the window down, put your knee in the center of the door ,grab the window frame and give a couple of tugs inward. this worked for me. No more noise

So, what did you do, bend the door inward?

    • I've been eyeing an upgrade to my tonneau cover for a bit now.  Intrigued by the BAK MX4 EZ-Lift with the torsion spring and went for the upgrade.  Thoughts and musings during unpacking, install and a few days of usage.   Once my order went into Realtruck, it took about 4 days to ship.  Unfortunately, FedEx Ground destroyed the box and contents and it was unusable upon receipt.  To Realtruck's credit, one email with pictures and an RMA was sent to me to send the first one back, and another unit was shipped out.  It arrived 3 days later, unscathed.   I opened the box and it looked like every other BAK MX4.   Biggest differences are the rails and retaining clamps, and of course the spring attached to the cover itself.     NOTE - if you are upgrading from a MX4 to the EZ-Lift, you will have to replace the rails.  The EZ-Lift rails have a notch cut in them to allow the new style retaining clamps to fit properly.  The new retaining clamps also have 2 knobs/carriage bolts and there are two tracks underneath the front panel. The strap clips are mildly different (more like the Undercover Flex clamps) in that the screws go in from the underside.  Personally I prefer these over the BAK clamps that use the nutserts that are a nuisance to install.  The remainder of the parts in the box (drain tubes, rail clamps, and bumper pads) are standard issue BAK.     I did not replace my front bed seal at the time because it seemed to be in decent shape.   BAK recommends shims on the GM trucks unless you place the clamps on the flanges about 1/3 of the way in from both the front and rear of the bed.  I shimmed the front and the middle, and initially placed the clamps equidistant.  This also turned out to be a mistake, because when I set the cover in place, the new style retaining clamps wouldn't clear the front clamp.   New style clamp inserted in the track:     And the issue which occurred because the front rail clamp was too far forward:     Once I removed the shim from the front of the bed, and slid the clamp back to the front flange, everything cleared fine.     The cover set on the rails without issue and I installed the strap clamps.  After I completed my adjustments, I pulled the pin to activate the torsion spring.  Mistake #3 on my part.  PULL THE PIN AS THE VERY VERY VERY LAST STEP!  The reason is, once you pull the pin, the torsion spring is activated.  If you have to loosen the front clamps and adjust the cover, the front panel will - by virtue of the spring, refuse to lay down.  The only way to get it to lay down so you can reinstall and tighten the clamps is to fully open the panel against the back of the cab, which will then allow the front panel of the cover to lay down and be tightened.  Not a big deal unless you haven't installed the foam pads yet (typically the last step) because minus the foam pads, you will need to place something between the frame of the cover and the back window so it doesn't get scratched.  The next time I install one I will install the foam pads before I pull the pin and activate the spring.   After using it for a few days:   The spring assist is great.  You literally can open it with one hand.  My shoulders aren't getting any younger and this was part of my motivation to swap out. The second panel latches and unlatches itself as you open and close the cover.  Neat in concept, however it took me a minute to get used to closing the cover and not hearing the "latching" sound that would tell me it was locked in place. The paddle handles are a huge upgrade and I wouldn't be surprised to see them become the standard across the Realtruck line.  They effectively eliminate the concern that a thief could coat hanger the cover open and get to the contents in the bed. I'm not sure why the very front panel on my cover has a different finish from the other 3 panels.  I have a request into Realtruck to find out if mine was not manufactured properly or if it was by design.   All in all I'm pleased.  Same level of protection, looks good, keeps stuff mostly dry (they all leak around the tailgate) and easy to install.
