Voice recognition really doesn't like me

I plug my iPhone into the USB and it almost takes divine intervention to get the truck to find a song. I'll say Play Song X and the goofy truck will say play Song B? I say no and then it will go into pardon pardon or it will ask and I say play Song X and it will say play something totally different right. Like WOW it is maddening. Now on the Navigation - it doesn't recognize anything I say there either. It makes me want to punch the screen out. It also will not find any contacts on my phone, say call Jon Doe it says there is no Jon Doe even though he is clearly on my phones contacts.............

What am I doing wrong?

Are you wearing a hat? I noticed if I am wearing a ball cap the system never understands me. When I take it off its fine. Also try to speak straight ahead and not up at the mic, that's what works for me.

Mine doesn't work great either. Do you have a deep voice? Mine is deep and I thought that might be the reason. I try using buttons whenever I can.

i read somewhere in the manual . If you have an accent you have to set the system to learn your accent so it can recognize your voice....

Oh? I wonder i this is something everyone should do. I don't have my manual handy, but there is actually a setting for some sort of voice learning? I'll have to read through it. I haven't even had a chance yet.

No real accent, no hat so far, and SIRI almost always gets what I say.

I do know that you have to have it absolute silent in the vehicle, so if people in the backseat are talking (usually my wife and her bff that can't shut it for 3 sec ) it will hear those voices too. My wife has and acura TL S type that if you say XM station one it will deflate the tires, etc. The only vehicle I ever owned with a fantastic voice recognition is Blue link in my Hyundai genesis coupe. the Acura sux, the 14 Gmc All terrain suxs, but it only takes me a second to hit the button.

Maybe the truck is trying to improve your music taste and the people who you associate yourself with. Its a government plot.

I have a very deep voice and very few hands free systems in all sorts of vehicles don't pick up my voice

Yeah the only one that ever works properly for me is GoogleVoice on my phone. That one works excellent.

I have an accent and very unusual contact names on my iphone, she is picking what I say 90% of the time.

One thing I did notice though is if you have the HVAC on, blowing on your face she will not hear what you say, I just put my hand on the vent while I speak or have the vent blow air downward

Speaking of voice recognition, I'm sharing a link to a an email I've got from a dealer today about using Siri with MyLink. They did not mentioned the Silverado but I believe that MyLink is the same across all GM vehicles, at least in the features.

I wonder if GM have added a feature that was not included in our 14's
