Hi gang. Bought a 2016 Silverado High Country Crewcab May 25th 2016. . I want to see if ya'll can help on a particular issue. I was putting in new floor mats and noticed a lot of lint under the rear seats. I popped up the seats and boom...saw this! Can anyone verify the same on their 2015/2016 crewcab? As shoddy as it looks maybe the holes are for air flow from the 2 vents on the back outside wall of the cab...though a simple plastic grill insert would be more appropriate. The cutout however looks like someone on the production line forgot to hook up the wiring harnesses and when it was caught during an inspection they simply cut a hole to get to it. The picture doesn't do it justice...the cutout is about 6"x3" and the holes cover an area 2x as big. Definately seems like it would allow intrusion of noise, heat, cold, etc. Ok, any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Look familiar? Seems to be SOP and not an afterthought fix. Insulation Panel is made that way

Thanks Day11. It just bothered me not knowing one way or the other so at least it's settled. Still, looks just a little shoddy. It's strange to put a lot of work into making the new trucks quiet but leaving such an obvious place for noise intrusion. Oh well. Thanks again.

My 2015 crew cab looks just like that. I saw it when I was working to mount my amp back there. Now that it's summer I'm contemplating pulling the entire back seat for a few days and Dynomat'ing the whole wall and doing a proper mount on the amp.

Actually after thinking about it, it doesn't surprise me that much. It is only the insulation padding that has holes. They do have to allow air to move pretty quickly during closing of doors etc so there needed to be a relief area. The cutaway for the connectors could have been a flap I suppose.

The holes are roughly where the amplifier is for the BOSE equipped trucks. Cooling is my guess.

I have a Bose version. Didn't notice the amp in that area though

I gutted the interior and road killed the cab and that's about where the amp sits there is a couple other electrical things on the wall behind there as well

The 3 stud ina triangle formation hold the amp that you see laying by the seatbelts

I see, the amp is up the back wall a bit. The holes do seem to be right below that. Thanks

If I remember right the holes continue up a bit behind the seats beyond what you can see without removing the rear seats.
