AfterMarket Spark Plug Wires

Recommended Posts

Your OE wires are fine. It is possible for aftermarket low resistance wires to cause some RFI and affect other circuits, although I have not heard of this happening. Do some research and draw your own conclusions.

Every GM engine I have ever had ran smoother and more efficiently on top shelf plugs and wires period! I don't knock you one bit for removing especially now being GDI even more the reason to 86 the plugs at 50K!

Wasting money my stock wires fit my ARHeaders fine!

Actually while the stock ones are decent, the Taylor made ones have less resistance and do allow more spark energy to make it to the spark plugs.

My stock wires all have roughly 2,000 ohms resistance and the MSD wires are around 75 ohms. When I had these wires on my 2008, they actually got rid of the electrical noise I was hearing thru the radio at times.

The answer is in the quote you quoted me from, less resistence allows more spark energy to make it to the spark plugs. Allows a better spark which makes the combustion process that much more efficient. Are you going to notice it, doubt it but sometimes the gains are due to the increases from all of the minor changes and not so much a single change.

And what does this equate too with less resistance?

The plugs are done at 60,000 miles might as well put new wires on also! You will notice a smoother running engine, better throttle response, better idle and yes more MPG's with decent plugs and wires! It's a waste of money at 6,000 miles but not at 60,000+
