I got my truck back and it sits level and looks very good. I have been trying to adjust the Kings to a setting that I like. I haven't gotten a chance to drive that muh since I got my truck back but I will this week. Initial impression is not really much different than my Bilsteins but I hope it's just because I haven't driven enough to test them out. Here are some pictures.

You won't notice much of a difference on the road. Big off-road hits are where you'll notice the most difference

I can't figure out how to upload pictures from my phone. I got 275/60/20 terra grapplers and I am very happy with them and how they look. The truck sits very level and looks really good. I did not have them cut the perch and when I am driving on the highway and hit a bump that causes the truck to jump up and the front tires droop down I can hear and feel the UCA hit the perch. I am now leaning towards cutting the perch but I also plan on being pretty rough on this system and I know you guys have said by cutting the perch it can cause over droop and that can damage the system. I had a strut over extend on my last truck and when I landed I was nose down and on impact it caused the shock piston to bend out of the shock housing which was not good.

 

Can anyone provide a part number on limiting straps or bump stops or anything else to fix this that I could buy?

You'd have to custom fab straps. No one makes them for 1500s

I haven't seen any reports of someone cutting the perch and having damage from over extension. I'm sure in certain circumstances it could be possible, but so far I've just heard theory. Of course, I would imagine most folks aren't out jumping their trucks every weekend...

What do you mean by "this"? Damage from overextension? Not cutting the service perch and having the control arm hit it?

Have you or anyone else experienced this?

Experienced members on another chevy site who I trust recommend leaving the perches in place. I cut mine prior to speaking with them. Haven't had anything bad happen, apart from losing alignment recently. Couldn't tell you if it was related or not, but I have stock struts with a spacer installed at the moment while my fox coilovers are being repaired due to manufacturing defect.

So I've had the kit for a few weeks. I have driven it over all terrains from very extreme to my daily commute and I would say the only time I ever noticed these being better than my Bilsteins were at high speed Offroad and jumping. I haven't found a setting yet but someone told me today to set the rear softer than the front so I might try that. Has anyone done this or does anyone have a setting strategy to try? If anyone is considering these I might try the icons if you drive on the street for more than 80%. I'm not giving up on them however because I'm still hoping I find a nice street setting for all 4 corners that I really like. Yes I'm probably being picky but for the price I paid I was expecting a ride as smooth as my buddies diesel with kings(carli).

 

Also just an update I still have not removed the perch.

 

I'll keep y'all updated and try to figure out how to post pictures.

 

Any suggestions or comments are always appreciated!

What type of mileage are you getting out of your setup?

piggybacking here since my questions do not warrant a new thread.  I appreciate all the good info here.

 

I have a 16LTZ4wd 6.2 and am looking at fox/king/icon kits that are OEM in the 1-3" range.   Truck came with the black 22" gloss rims and 295 45 22's and I'm trying to keep the 22's but might run a size or two bigger when these nittos terra grapplers wear out.  This is my daily driver.

 

 Drive mostly onroad but love hooning it up when I get the chance at a railroad x'ing or offroad so I wantsome decent hardware.  Love the idea of adjustable Kings, love even more the idea of dual adjustable Fox's (rebound and compression).  Don't want to run Deavers (yet) because I like a little payload and towing.

 

You guys have any idea if the 22's (without spacers) will rub with congnitos (or other UCA's?).

    • Have considered installing a DC to DC charger in your camper to replace your isolator?  
    • Common failure.  You need to replace the fuel door housing.   The painted cover transfers over to the new housing.  To remove the old one there is 4 spots where you poke the plastic to release it.  
    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.      
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?
