Here is a little reading on the engines, they now run 0w20 oil and I thought 5w30 was thin.

Interesting the move to 0W20 oil. Wonder how the 110deg Texas summers will effect durability. I can guess they needed a thinner oil to facilitate the ability to "direct spray of oil to different parts of the engine" on demand. Today's oils are much better than they used to be so it may be a moot point, but still makes you wonder about long-term effects with all of that activity going on under the hood. Is synthetic mandated? If so that has to calculate into lifetime of ownership operating costs. I suspect the oversized oils pans were a measure to offset the thinner oil durability issues.
