Any word on hp ? Did you hear or see anything on there king ranch version/edition, curious to see what they come up with.

 

 

Check out our speculation article on the home page for horsepower numbers that I've been able to infer from talking to people.

 

There will be a Denali again but was not touched on today.

just noticed the painted rear step bumper isnt available on the sierra all terrain...also the all terrain has optional chrome bumpers

 

no sunroof on sle

 

id like to get a painted bumper all terrain with 20s :)

I read that the 6.2 wont be available until the fall of 2013. that sucks because I like the GMC enough to order one ASAP. I am curious about whether the back seats have A/C vents and if the back doors have map pockets.

Looks like the lowest gears are the 3.73 again but you can get it with the 5.3 now so that is a plus.

I'll take the Chevy over the Gmc front end. I like that the brake control is moved up, instead of at the your knees. And looks like the four drive switch is by the headlight controls =easier to see. I can only HOPE they did away with the AUTOMATIC door locks ! All in All I like .

Let me say again, these trucks look good in person. Inside and outside pictures do not serve justice

 

 

I hope I feel the same way when I eventually see one. Not impressed yet, but I'll keep my hopes up that seeing one in person will change my mind.

I'm loving that new Sierra. Only turn off is the red dials in the interior.

With the last payment on my 2008 due in June, I just might have to check these out.

I'm just not sure I can get used to all this "stuff" going on in the dash.

 

What I like

6.2L option

Under rail lights

EZ Up and Down Tailgate

The fender flares around each wheel (Appears to be on SLT model only but not sure about this)

Noise Reduction

Very clean look (I would agree the 2006 Sierra was the best looking until I saw this)

Finally a place for us old guys to put our foot on the rear bumper! (Arthritis is a nuisance)

 

What I don't like

Dashboard

Trailer Brake Controller above head lights (WTF)

LEDs around the headlight

Gaudy wood trim along the console

 

As someone previously pointed out, red means danger and doesn't belong on a dashboard.

Agreed. Although "hideous" may be too strong of a word, I believe they certainly are a step backwards on the exterior.

 

Whoever approved the headlights on the GMC needs to be fired. They look like cheap $79.99 aftermarket units with all the 'bling' in them. Example:

GMC is supposed to be the premium brand of trucks, why not do the 'light tubes' like Cadillac has? That would look FAR less cheesy than the bling-tastic LEDs that are there. I mean, if you're going to do the LEDs, do something cool with the turn signals or something. The Chevy is a tad better, but overall, the GMT-900s look better and the 800s better than the 900s.

 

I had the itch to replace my 800 with a new one, now that itch is gone. And that's a shame too because the interior and powertrains look to be absolutely fantastic. Nice to see GM doesn't view the V8 engine as the anti-christ as other manufactures do.

 

If I had to replace my truck, I'd see the Dodge man first. The 2013 Ram is the one to beat. And no one is up to the task it looks like...but these trucks do come close. Sadly, most of the comments I have read (TTAC/Autoblog) have been very negative. I hope the power trains are out of this world.

That's great being hitched to the 6-speed. The current truck with 3.42 gears with the 6-speed actually has a lower ratio than a 4 speed with even lower gears. 3.73 gears in the GM 6-speed are like having 4.10's and a 4-speed.

The look of the new Sierra is sweet! I hate that they did away with the blue color on those though. Those gold and purple colors are ugly. Not really a big fan of the dash either maybe by the time I see one in person it will look better. The extended cab with the small rear door looks like it will be hell to get into and out of now too. Oh well may have to get the crew cab with 6' bed then.

I really like them both!

 

I can't wait to see the HD's! Not excited about the price tag :-(

 

I guess that even the Denali will not get the 8-speed. Will have to wait a couple years for that :-(

 

Too bad the 8 speed is not ready at launch. The dodge boys pulled it off!

      I have the same running boards on my truck and I do agree they are bulky. I also find myself stepping over them when getting in and out of the truck. Besides providing protection to the rocker panels, they aren't very useful.  I will be replacing them soon with the Amp Powersteps.

      Thanks newdude!  By the time manual selection is needed, I'm probably too much of a control-freak to depend on the transmission sensing braking to activate automatic downshifting.  I would be anticipating the situation and already be manually downshifting.   This truck replaced a 2004.5 LLY diesel with the Allison 5-speed.  Putting it in T/H made noticeable differences (when the torque converter locked, upshift points, downshift behavior).  On this 2024 gasser with the 10L1000 I haven't been able to detect much, if any, difference.  Ok, I can never tell now when the torque converter locks up.  But I also don't notice differences in shifting.  For downhills, I've probably already manually downshifted by then anyway.  Since it's also more awkward (than the 2004.5) to engage/disengage I don't even bother.  Or maybe it doesn't really matter with just a 3k lb. camper in the bed?   Thanks also for the list of reasons the charging system might select various voltages.  However, what I am seeing doesn't fall into any of those categories.  It very definitely, and very consistently, rises after coasting/braking.  Maybe not immediately, but not very long after coasting/braking.  Very consistently drops voltage when no longer coasting/braking.  It might also be interacting with the camper battery charging (I might disconnect the camper and see if it changes the charging behavior).  I also need to recheck turning on headlights for when I want to force it to charge the camper.   Another JR, in June I converted the camper to LiFePO4.  Since it's not a good idea to try to charge lithiums directly using truck, I installed a Victron Orion XS DC-DC charger (which BTW is AMAZING!!).  Being cheap, I only had to buy that one item (besides the battery, of course) to do the conversion.  The camper OEM 120v battery charger (only 19 years old and works perfectly) and the truck feed the input to the DC-DC charger (not at the same time).  But I didn't want the camper charger feeding back to the truck so I kept the old separator.  I considered replacing the separator with a 30amp diode but that means more work and might add another 1/2 volt drop.  One thing that surprised me was the voltage drop over the long 10awg wire run, so I can only charge smoothly at 8 amps (because the DC-DC charger is completely configurable).  Another reason I don't want an added voltage drop with the diode.  I might also be a little lazy but all this work is being done under the sink with a small cabinet opening.
