During my truck search I have came upon this truck, 02 Avy with 76k miles! The guy is asking $13,500. Now it is a nice truck, no rust, interior is clean with no stains or rips. Has aftermarket DVD and remote start. My ? is, what would you offer for this truck?? It books out at like $12,400 in very good condition, private party.

I would offer $9k with some negotiating room left open. Anything under $11.5k sounds good based off the info you provided.

"Book" values have little meaning on vehicles this old, since it depends so much on vehicle condition. I've looked at 3/4 ton Burbs in the same vintage over the past few years, and with that many miles, a 4wd model will *sell* for the $13.5k asking price you mention. Not sure about Avy's, though, and you didn't mention 2 vs 4wd.

9k? Really? Even thought he has it listed for 13.5k? I was thinking 11 or 11.5. I'm no good at haggling lol

I was thinking 12k if the truck does turn out to be "worth" it. Pictures look good but ya never know till ya touch it and feel it.

Unless your heart is dead set on this one and you don't want to hear "no" start low. You can always go up, can't go lower once you start.

As stated above, book says $12.4, but that only in very good condition. Unless I know the pedigree of a vehicle, I always price them as "fair".

One more thing, money talks! Start at $9K, show up with $11K. Anything left over is "mod money"!

I just checked and there is a very similar truck to what your described for sale around me. The difference is it has 50K more miles. For sale by owner and he is starting at $11,000. I would think if you could get it between $11-12,000 you got yourself a very good deal on a low mileage 3/4 ton Avalanche.

I agree.

It really depends on your location and the supply of used trucks in the area where U live. Here where I live a used truck sold private party will bring right at computer value sometimes a little more if it is in decent shape. Avy's are kind of rare around my neck of the woods. I guess it boils down to what is it worth to U ?

sorry if i missed it but is it a 3/4th ton avy or half ton?

regardless, its a nearly 12 year old truck, i would not pay more then 8000 to 9000 for it depending on the condition.

3/4 ton Avy's are a rare bird in this area. The 1/2 tons are everywhere with the same miles are going for 8-10 grand. So it seems that 12 grand isn't too bad of a deal, not a steal by any means but does seem fair.

Yeah it's a 3/4 ton. And yeah it's a 12 year old truck but it appears to be in immaculate condition. 12 grand seems steep for a 12 year old truck, I agree. But for what I am seeing in my area it really isn't a bad deal.

Ok I just did a quick check on KBB it says the 3/4 avy's have the 8.1 motor where the 1/2 ton Avy's have the the 5.3 motor that would be a huge difference right there. Alot more power with the 8.1 plus U get the 3/4 ton running gear under it. It would pull your camper with ease. Talk about fun to drive. Only down side would be gas mileage. If I were interested in it I think I would offer 11k and figure on giving about 12k. I don't even see many 1/2 tons around here.

The dude told me he'd take 12. I just can't justify spending that kind of cash on a 12 year old truck!

OK, so I found another Avy, same color, 122k miles and is an 03. No dvd, remote start but does have the driver information center stuff with steering wheel controls and power extending mirrors which is a nice touch. TIres are new but not as nice at the 02's tires, they both have power seats. They want 10,200 for the 03. So, it is worth an extra 1800 to get the 02 with less miles and some added goodies or should I opt for the 03?
