I just like the sound wastegates make, lol. IMO it makes way more sense to twin turbo a V8 than a V6. I may have mentioned this before :jester:

I've owned 3 fords prior to my Z71 I have now. Had a 96 Ranger that I couldn't kill. Drove it to 225,000miles and traded it in. Saw it on the road 6 months later. Had an '02 F150 that was about the same. Sold it my stepbrother in '07 and he's still driving it. It currently has 240,000 miles on it. Bought an '05 F150 from my uncle in '07. He maintains his vehicles meticulously. It was a POS. Coil trouble started at 80,000 miles and every 10-15K miles another coil would misfire. I was nearly done changing all 8 coils when I had major problems at 170,000 miles.

I have a friend who is a Ford mechanic at a local dealership. He did all of the work on my '05 at night in the dealer garage for about 1/2 price. That truck was constantly in that garage for stuff. Thank God I know him or I would have been paying through the nose on a regular basis. Can't even remember exactly what went wrong at 170,000 miles but I remember him pulling a big sprocket out of my engine that came out in pieces. That job cost me $2500, through the dealer it would have been $5000. He told me that a lot of crap that broke over the 3 years I owned that '05 isn't even in a GM truck engine.

He told me that Ford has trouble meeting emissions every few years, and redesigns the engines because of that. According to him, they put them on the road and then get them tweaked right after a few years. Chevy has continued to meet emissions with the old push rod 5.3 engine somehow with very little changed. In 2011, every engine in the F150 line was a 1st year engine. He told me to absolutely not buy a 2011 Ford, so I bought a Chevy. I've always likes Chevys anyway. By the way, this Ford mechanic drives a Silverado with 250,000 miles on it.

In my opinion, Fords are for guys who want to trade their truck in every 5 years. I think GM trucks definitely last longer, based on the experiences of a lot of my friends. I have 72,000 miles on my 2011 and I'm very happy with it. Not saying Chevy is perfect by any means, but I think overall they make a better truck.

If Chevy did a TT V6, I am sure it would have issues as well...same for Dodge. My opinion: they are all the same. Each and everyone will have its issues. They are all basically made to the same standards. They all copy from each other at some point. Don't get me wrong, I do favor the GMs, but mainly b/c my father was an employee for 30 years. The discounts were nice! I do believe they are built to last, but I am quite sure that's the target of the other makers as well. My last 2 GMs are first-year models. The 04 Colorado with the 5 cylinder...put 94k HARD miles on her. I had it covered in mud after I left the dealer. My 07 Sierra, just hit 60k, but I am not easy on that one either. I no longer have the Colorado, but I plan to keep this Sierra for a long time. Its paid off, and no matter what I throw at it, it takes. When something major does go wrong, she will be my toy and I will buy a new truck. Honestly, at this point, it could be a truck from any of the makers.
