don't hold your breath

Had tires rotated with oil change Tuesday - still no vibrations. The AC Compressor was all ****ed up though, which would explain why my AC has been piss warm. I mentioned it to them, and they said they would look at it - I thought maybe it just wasn't charged or whatever. They put the dye through it, and it was leaking all over the place. New one on order, kind of odd for a truck with 8k miles.

looks like you're one of the lucky few, hopefully it stays that way for your sake

Well the dealership called me today and said the truck was ready. They sent GM the readings and GM said there was nothing wrong with the truck, it was in spec. I sure hope that is the case but after what the technician said Monday I'm not sure. After he changed the ring and pinion on Monday he said it didn't change it much. I guess if it still has the shake's I'll start the process. If I start a case I'll be seeking advice from those that have already had the experience.

Drove my truck on the highway, have another slight vibe around same speeds as before (76+) and now i also notice if i accel in 6th gear from 70 up to 76 i have a slight vibe as well as a vibe on decel at any speed 80-65ish

My guess is ring and pinion but im getting tired of all these issues. Was about to throw some new wheels and tires on her cause i thought everything had been solved but im not sure about down the road reliability on this truck

I have noticed that the vibe is different with the changing of weight in the truck. Additionally, I was in traffic and doing a long stretch of between roughly 17-27 mph the vibe was just like the vibe I get at 76

(link to my 76 mph vibe here) the truck feels like its shaking side to side, and as though the transmission is clunky, kind of like the truck doesn't know what gear it wants to be in. This is the first time I've noticed it like this, but I'm also rarely driving at a constant 21 MPH. So basically I have different vibes at different speeds, has anyone noticed this vibe though?

Now to update on the lawyer, I spoke with the attorney yesterday, he is still combing through all of the information I sent him last week, but I got the impression that he felt it was a very good case and that we have a lot in our favor. No word for sure yet though, I'll keep everyone updated on that.

This also happened to me. I remember lightly tapping the gas (traveling around 10mph), letting off the gas slightly, then hitting the gas again..and the transmission felt like it freaked out...like it got stuck in 5th gear and the truck wouldn't accelerate...made loud noise and vibrations...similar to those felt during V4 mode. This has happened only once on my truck to this degree...but a handful of times where it only made the noise for a short time...letting off the gas and re-applying it gets rid of the condition. Definitely like the trans gets tripped up and doesn't know what to do.

Any one have experience with BBB autoline arbritation on this issue ? im Debating on cancelling my claim with BBB and just going with an Attorney.

I don't know about your state, but my state you have to go through the process of going through the BBB first and than you can get an attorney after the BBB hearing.

this is a very weird and poorly built truck.... can't wait to be done with it. I did try braking and re applying the gas, but the vibe stuck around in mine, not sure what the deal was

I know this is from the previous generation of trucks but it is still extremely interesting

After reading this post earlier in the week I thought id give it a try. My truck is a 2014 double cab z71. I have a 2" leveling kit and replaced the stock tires with Michelin LTX at tires. my truck has the 45 mph to 55mph vibration and it is the worst between 50 and 55. I picked up 1/2 a cord of fire wood this morning and headed home on a 40 mph road and the wheel did not vibrate at all. Then i jumped on the interstate for a few miles to test it and sure enough the vibration was 80% - 90% gone. If i wasn't looking for the steering wheel vibration i most likely would not have noticed it at all.

With my shitty luck, I cannot believe I have not noticed any vibration with my truck. My frame coating peeled off , and I live in MN where they put as much salt on the road as there is snow. Maybe I just haven't hit the right conditions? Maybe I need a full tank and need to drive 80+? Does it ever happen later for some people, like after 20k? Reading through this makes me feel blessed that I don't have this issue. It does make the frame coating issue seem like nothing. Man I really hope you all get it figured out.

there have ben reports of it being developed, not sure if after 20k miles, but definitely developed

Just completed the BBB Autoline process. In my case, a losing effort. Even though I had my ducks lined up; contact detail, copies of RO's, even videos, when 5 adults piled into the truck for a test drive that suppressed most of the vibration the arbitrator said I didn't reach the "substantial" level for the state of Ohio Lemon Law. He admitted he felt the vibration just as most everyone in the forum has described, but he thought I was too sensitive.

I referenced this forum with nearly 800K hits and this really put the GM reps on the defensive. GM was also silenced when I referenced their advertisements quoting how the truck rides like a luxury car.

There appears to be a problem with these trucks, but GM refuses to admit it, as many others here have noted.

It would be interesting to see real stats on the numbers of formal complaints the BBB is handling with this issue.

I'm more interested if anyone has hired an attorney and what the costs/outcome was going that route. My situation hasn't escalated that far but I would imagine it would be easier.....

paid 80 bucks to have my tires road forced at my oil change last week. shake is about gone completely. Only very minor about 74-75 but goes away past 75

If that's the case, why don't all trucks vibrate the same? Only some percentage of trucks sold have the vibration problem, proving that instead of design issue, there is a batch of defective parts that were installed on these trucks, be it tires, hubs, axles, or transmissions.

They aren't the ONLY culprit, but quality control is clearly not a strong point for GM lately. The fact that they can't find any real "problems" aside from a million random fixes is astonishing.

    • The amount of storage in the rear seat area is huge. You can keep all your cycle gear dry and clean back there
    • Truck in fluid changes and investigate subtle shudder at cruising speeds.  Told them it felt like my ‘14’s shudder when AFM kicked in.   Dealer #1 :  You need a new torque converter.   6 weeks later, after causing other damages to my truck, I get the truck back.  Same shudder exists. New, more violent shifts and vibrations at low speed.  After choice words and a few more weeks of waiting for them to replace my running boards supports, I move on to another Dealer.   Dealer #2:  The cruising speed shudder is DFM.  (I didn’t realize truck had it.) The TCM/ECM needs updates.  Updates will solve all vibration issues.   They perform updates, truck seemed ok in lot.  Not a mile down the road, SERVICE BRAKE PAD MONITOR. Dealer #1 stated brakes were at 4mm.   took truck back to Dealer #2, rear brakes at 2mm and less than 1mm.     New pads/rotors on rear, new pads up front.   truck seems good. Toggle through menus, brake monitor system is disabled.  Huh?  Why? Turn that sucker on : SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM!     will not reset manually, automatically, or even after pulling negative bat cable for 30min.     Could the TCM/ECM updates the culprit?    A torque converter diagnosis for a “normal” shudder and now I’m thousands in the hole and the truck still isn’t right!  Beyond pissed.
    • Your right on. 👍🏻
    • Seats matter a lot.  I would start there - good advise here.  I had a 2018 LT Colorado before my 2026 LT Silverado, and the seats are so much better in the new one it's not even a contest.  That was one thing I always hated about the Colorado and I owned two of them spanning 10 years - but I did it so I could park in the garage mainly.  Now I have a much larger property and a huge barn so I have plenty of parking options and a full size is more useful for maintaining the property and current hobbies as well.  I wasn't evenb thinking about the seats as part of the reason for the move to the Silverado, but after two back to back 700mile road trips I am sold on the LT seats w/ leather 100%.  The other LT features are also nice - one thing I really like is the power rear window on the back window by the bed.  And the lighting in the bed is also very nice to have - I doubt that comes on the lower models.  Power tailgate - also quite useful - it's a heavy slug!  What else - I could take or leave the screen - but heated seats and steering wheel and cruise control on the steering wheel is very useable - I would never want to live without that.  Even the colorados had that.
    • I think the ship has sailed on the fuel injection type - everything is getting direct now.  Does it help with mpg?  Not really and nobody buying a HD truck really cares anyway.  But that is what it is at this point.  Piston rings is something they may well adjust over time to get them right.
