I could whip up an online form that could help us paint a picture. A quick online survey where the link could be shared and everyone could see the results. The next question then is, what information would be relevant/useful? What do y'all think of this:

Guys, have you all read this whole thread? This idea has been discussed and there are even seperate threads on the same subject. The conclusion has already been made that it does not matter if your truck is 2wd, 4wd, regular/ext/crew cab, chevy/gmc, etc. There is no rhyme or reason but all configurations can have the vibration. It is also a very small percentage that have the problem even though others would make it seem like they all do it. Mine has the slight vibe at 72-80 mph but every single person I have talked to over the last year that own one of these trucks say it is smooth as glass on the interstate and the best truck they have owned. That is well over 50 people by now. Tires re-balanced solved alot of my vibe problems but it is still there on the Interstate. I am rarely on the Interstate but if I was I would not keep my truck, I would have traded it in on another brand by now. Since I rarely drive past 55 mph it is not worth the loss for me to trade out of it but it would be a different story if I spent a great deal of my time on the superslab.

You know one thing I noticed the other day when I was sitting at a light and slightly moving forward with my foot still a little on the brake I could feel like a pulse in the truck like the anti-lock braking was hitting back and forth. Do you think that maybe something like this could be happening at higher speeds and making the vibration. I also have the vibration in my 2015 double cab 5.3ltr. Sierra. Just a thought. I even could make it happen in a parking lot. Maybe they could try disabling the anti-lock system and see if it makes a difference.

I have noticed that too, one of the things I find even weirder is that while there is always a slight vibe in the truck, the severity can fluctuate even when driving the same roads

True. I suppose the other benefit would have been that we'd have more concrete counts of those with the issue. Would we get further with GM if we were to report 1,000 unique VINs that vibrated?

This is why I brought up about the brakes, this is something that could effect lots of vehicles of different kinds even brands. Just trying to get more ideas out there. There has to be something wrong and either it is a very tricky problem to pinpoint down or GM and others just don't want the fix out there because it could cost them millions. Their was nothing wrong with my 2013 Sierra that I had it was just at the end of the lease so I decided to go with a 2015 Sierra All Terrain which I really like a lot but after just 600 miles I now have this vibration and it starts at around 45 mph and gets worse at 60mph. I am on the highway a lot where the speed limit is 65 and this will drive you nuts if you spend most of your time at those speeds.

Same here, all highway for me. The steering wheel is where I have it the worst although it may be masking any other vibrations. The tires all road force below 10 pounds. It is so annoying and I am about at my wits end. I have a case open and my request to repurchase has been submitted to GM.

Just purchased a 2015 Silverado CC SB 5.3 LT. Its smooth with no vibrations. I guess I got lucky.

Well truck has been at the dealer for 8 days, no call on update so I called. They have been busy you know! Said the mechanic drove it and only felt road conditions, gonna drive it again later...so they started it on the eighth day after drop off. They have had the truck almost as many days as me since purchase. I know they will call and say its nothing we didn't feel anything. Told them last time cant test it going up and down the highway in the hill country. Will keep shifting up and down and never be in 4 mode at at constant. LAST GM EVER......

Keeps us posted on what they say about the repurchase. That will be my next step. I picked my truck up today after being at the dealer for almost a month. I drove it the other day with the mechanic and it drove great, but I asked them to send out the driveshaft to have it balanced properly (after they used hose clamps to balance it). Took it out on a good 80 mile trip on I-71 where the road had been repaved and the vibration/ center console shake was back as if it was never fixed. That makes 5 repair attempts and over 30 cumulative days out of commission. Three different dealerships and still not fixed.

2015 GMC Sierra SLT 2WD here, Dealer replaced tires 3 times to finally went to a different brand From Goodyear we went to Bridgestone. Stopped the Vibration for almost 4 days with a 90% successful rate. Now the 2nd attempt with almost 12 days there, they're replacing the entire driveshaft, U-Joints and Differential Bearings or Gears, whatever was. So I'm still down with the truck in service for a total of 14 days and counting because of the weekend. I'll push it hars for a truck replacement for sure and hope nothing out of my pocket. Im Not sure for the Arizona Lemon Laws, tho.

    • With large equipment or deep mud it is more of a use the higher gear to avoid spinning tires, getting stuck because of spinning tires and doing damage to your machine. The idea is if you run out of torque before you spin tires you can still downshift for more torque. If you are just spinning your tires in the lowest available gear you are stuck and things break.   Automatic transmissions, traction control and electronic transfer cases change the calculation a little as you the driver have less control over each piece. 
    • are there any codes? with lots of rust, perhaps disconnect/clean both sides of the connection/examine cable ends (the wires) for corrosion going into the sheath & replace if necessary/reconnect ALL the power AND ground cables between the battery, engine, frame, cab, fuse box and starter charm.li (website) has a no-start diagnostic procedure you can work through to get it working.
    • Its no wonder you've gravitated to the oil types and brands you have in later years after trying certain brands and one being a specialty oil or at least very hard to come by up here and the other would have been a commonly found oil of the era and the vastly different outcomes as a result to using the vehicles in question the same distance for an OCI . It shows what marketing hype can do without actually having the product to back up the claims and that is no different now with the insane claims that are written on the side of a bottle of oil from some of the off the shelf oils.    What has surprised me and I was already finding this out before I bought my truck with the GDI engine, that this newer fancy technology that seemingly would suggest better fuel economy/emissions with this high pressure spray of fuel is not in reality kind at all to the engine or at least the oils life. Yet they insist on claiming long OCI with this technology just like they did with the port or similar type fuel injection systems when in reality its a step back in oil life to have a GDI system.    I think the mistake your making Grumpy is that your not sending your samples to Blackstone and getting the feel good glowing report that you can run it another 1000 or more miles and then send another sample where they say run it yet another 1000 miles and on and on it goes until your sending in something that looks a lot like road tar and then they may suggest you change your oil within the next 1000 miles 😆
    • I am guessing that engines of that design back then had a better ability to be abused and survive longer than a new design engine with the long timing chain and the overhead cams and phasers etc. But I would never guess that an engine could go that far and not fail spectacularly or at least die a slow death. 
    • In the 80's 90's I'd run Honda's 7,500 miles between changes using Red Line HP 5W20 and do it for hundreds of thousands of miles with issues. Back in the day it was an SAE 20 with the HTHS of a SAE 30 and SN add load. It was also very polar. Oxidation VOA was over 120. Besides those motors were SPFI and lean burn tech. I could have likely run it longer but never did.    We had a Toyota bought new I ran on Pennzoil's latest and greatest synthetic of the day with "Penthane". A made up word for a very low dose of PAO. Tried 7,500 mile OCI's in that Group III/VI chemistry and the rings tapped out at 90K. Rocker box wasn't as bad as the one Punch put up but it wasn't good either. Also a SPFI motor.    I'm around 3,750 across the board on these GDI monsters and the oil it tapped out by then usually on TBN/TAN crossover and color. Red Line HP Euro.    The AMSOIL SS brochures tell you to follow the OEM values for the service class but that it can be run up to 25K if monitored. I can't imagine what motor could go that distance and not tap out. I've never owned one.    Yes, I know. Lot's of people do. I'm just not going to be one of them.
