Hello,

My name is Tim Esterdahl and I'm a freelance automotive journalist working on a story for Pickuptrucks.com. Search my name and you will see it is legit. I'm hoping to find someone I can talk to in detail about this issue who recently purchased a new truck. A 2016 would be great, but a 2015 would be OK as well.

I realize this is a bit of a "dead horse" on this forum after scanning some other threads and I certainly don't aim to offend anyone. Instead, I'd like to collect some information and run a story educating consumers on this potential issue.

If you are interested in sharing your story, please contact me here or at tim @ tecreativeservices.com.

I'll also be in the 1962 Chevy threads since I'm currently working on mine. :)

-Tim

I'm driving a 2014 Sierra and it still is not repaired. I can't even get the company/ dealer to acknowledge there's a problem.

Good luck to all who call GM. I have a case and been calling 3 days now with only the ability to leave a voicemail. ive left 5 voicemails. 2 return call backs when I'm away from my phone and I immediately call back only to voicemail. The loaner the dealer gave me is a 2015 Silverado 2500 with 4000 miles. Engine sounds like it's ready to blow with the ticking and the vibration is as bad as my 2015 Silverado 1500. When the 2500 shifts gear you hear a cluck from the rear.

There are a lot more people with issues than the ones posting in this thread, most people will try to get it fixed a couple times and then just give up. After enough BS from GM they eventually just trade it in. Thats why I see tons of used 14, 15, and now 16 GM trucks on used car lots with less then 10,000 miles on them and thats a DAMN shame. Its not just vibrations that GM doesn't want to fix, its just about everytime you bring your truck to the dealership that they will usually call it "normal" or "could not duplicate". Its just a matter of time before quality issues catch up with GM and start hurting their profits, but unfortunately for customers right now they're sitting fat and happy and don't give a shit!

most states require a minimum of 3, be aware in some states, if you take a loaner vehicle it doesn't count as an attempt. once you hit the max required, you have to send a final repair attempt notice to GM, they will then set up for an "engineer" to come look at your truck, do something, then claim its fixed but in all likelihood it won't be. so you then have to work with your dealer or an attorney about doing a buyback or repurchase

That is not correct about taking a loaner, at least not in NJ....I took a loaner for over 2 months during my 3 attempts and GM bought back my 14 AT and I got a new 16 AT

So true. Gm pumps these shit boxes out, then offers 8 grand off msrp on brand new trucks making private party resale and trade in values super low and if you're one of the unfortunate people with the vibration that GM refuses to fix because it's within their arbitrary BS spec you're basically stuck making payments on a vehicle that's depreciating faster than you're paying it off, that you hate driving because it rides like ass. This will be the last GM product I purchase and I have many more trucks to buy in my lifetime. So **ck you GM.

please note, I said some states don't allow the attempt to count if your take a loaner, not all. GM handles buybacks differently for everyone, Going the lemon law route, you have to send them notice, then allow them one final repair attempt

How did this work? Did they buy back for MSRP plus the payments you have already made? Then, did you turn around and use that money to purchase the new truck? Were you out any money (i.e. difference in MSRP, sales tax again, etc?)

Even worse is they gave Bara a 72% raise to the tune of 28 million dollars for the 2015 year.

Lower quality non american part content and Mexicans doing the assembly is doing wonders for the portfolios of GM executives..

They take $8k off the MSRP after having increased that MSRP by at least $ 10k over similarly equipped 2013 models. And people fall for it thinking they are getting a good deal. What a bunch of crap.

Well, I called GM today, Told them that I had picked up my truck from its 5th repair attempt yesterday, and it still isn't fixed. I decided to start off playing nice, so instead of going into it angry and demanding they buy it back or I'll sue them, I simply asked what can be done, because it's to the point that I hate this truck, and don't want it anymore. They were courteous and appeared to understand (likely acting, as taking calls from pissed off people is their job), anyway, they initial representative transferred me to their "Senior Advisers" who asked me more questions, They are reaching out to the DM and the Manager of After Sales (or whatever the hell it is) at my new servicing GMC dealer, even though I have a Chevy (I did straight tell them, I will never go back to Best Chevrolet because of their service department, so they allowed it to be set up with the GMC dealer). they want 48 business hours to reach out and hear back from these people, and I will be contacted with what decided to do. If at this point, they aren't willing give me any options that are acceptable, I will file suit.

Pull the trigger and quit letting these folks drive the train, you just have one of those trucks that can't be fixed. You'll take a financial hit, but quit wasting your time, get something that works.

It's the DMA (District Manager After-Sales). They are the local decision makers on buy backs and trade assistance, they are given a budget to pacify aggravated customers in their district. Sometimes they offer buy back and other times they offer trade assistance. If they offer trade assistance it is used to help offset the depreciation of your vehicle towards another GM vehicle. The average customer doesn't get to talk directly to the DMA, normally the dealership Service Manager communicates directly with the DMA and relays the info to the customer. If the DMA offers you a deal and you accept then a GM corporate repurchase coordinator will contact you directly and provide assistance through the entire process. Good luck!!
