No I dont have an airlift system on it.

After reading through a lot of these posts I wonder if people understand how the fuel management systems works and what it feels like when it drops the cylinders. I can clearly feel when my truck drops 4 cylinders and that has a vibration all of it's own. I understand that itself will set up its own resonation.

My problem is that the truck has a harsh kind of like double bump when it hits an expansion joint. I was on the highway today and watched a truck's rear wheels bounce repeatedly over expansion joints. That is what my truck feels like is happening but only once up and a harder down.

It sure is a crime there is so much chatter here on a thread about vibration and the thread is 4 years old? Does anyone think GM is listening?

------------------

Well, being that 2018 is the last year for this platform, I doubt that anybody at GM is listening. This thread has become, sorta always has been, a circular discussion. Perhaps therapeutic but otherwise going nowhere.

I just want to share my experience and how utterly disgusted I am at how GM is avoiding this vibration/shaking issue.

Two months ago, August 12th 2017 I bought what I thought was going to be a great arizona outdoor truck for camping and seeing the great outdoors. Truck is a chevy silverado 1500 4x4 dbl cab 5.3L. With 22k miles full factory warranty and CERTIFIED PRE OWNED.

After getting on the freeway at 65 mph I notice the center console and passenger seat rattling like crazy, I take it back to the selling dealership and they say oh yeah trucks been sitting awhile and rebalanced the tires.

I leave and same thing, rattling and shaking and vibration at 65mph+.

I go back to the selling dealer ship to have the tires STOCK 275-55R20s road force balanced, tech gets out of the truck after test drive and says truck is still shaking and we think you have a bad tire GM doesnt want to pay for the tire, I call chevy corporate and they replace the tire. Tech at selling dealership suggests I get new tires.

Leave the dealership again and the same vibration and shake happens again on the same smooth NEWLY paved freeway, mind you the selling dealership is 35 miles from my house.

At this point Im pissed at go to a chevy dealership right by my house, we test drive and the tech sees the center console vibrating to where keys and cell phone wont stay in the holder.

He thinks its the tires, that was my final straw!!!

I go to discount tire and drop $1700 bucks on BFF all terrains and new wheels. I ask them to road force balance right away and the readings come in well below GMs spec. TRUCK IS STILL VIBRATING AT 65mph +!

I go back to the chevy dealership by my house and I tell them new tires and wheels, same problem!

I finally convince them to Pico scope the truck and guess what, they come back with a tire issue. I leave the dealership, and go back to discount and they replace all four bff tires and road force the new tires again WELL BELOW GM SPEC and again, I have the same shake and vibration as. With the stock tires and wheels I bought the truck with.

I decide to do some research and consult with several professional driveline mechanics, THIS IS NOT A TIRE AND WHEEL ISSUE! I am bringing the truck to a driveline specialist next week and after the research Ive done, I know for a fact this is a driveline (axle, drive shaft, prop shaft) issue that clearly GM does not want to fix and theyll have you believe its tire and wheel.

Ive reached the end of my rope and if the driveline guy finds the problem, I guarantee you I will go back to the dealership and have it fixed because GM is definitely avoiding this problem and giving the dealerships the talking points and truck owners the tire and wheel BS.

I am stunned that GM wont step up with all these problems and do whats right.

We will see because to sell someone a vehicle under warranty and having to take off work 7 times to deal with this is a joke.

If I dont get this rectified, I will consider my options up to legal action. No one is able to ride passenger in my truck on road trips because of this problem, it makes my young kid sick, and the shaking is not acceptable!

It is really a shame GM customer Service has been trained to blow people off on a normal basis. I find it rediculious that legal action is the only way to looose more money but ultimately get rid of the disappointing large purchase. It seems you can get better customer service for a thousand dollar Ipad than you can get for a $50;000.00 purchase wig GM. WITH A WARRANTY STILL IN AFFECT. GM really has to step up to the plate and stop using the dealers as their scapegoats.

What are the odds it’s Van Chevrolet / Van Buick GMC. That’s who I’m dealing with where they pretend they have never heard of the vibration issue.

Yes. GM has several bad Issue's.

I had a 2014 gmc sierra 4x4 crew. issues at 31000 miles.

of course the vibration issue was the worst. wife and kids complained of headache from vibration everytime.

radiator leak from so called thermostat cycles.36xxx miles.

poor radio reception and seat movement.

I have had all gm vehicels till now. this is by far the worst truck i have ever owned.

41xxx miles traded for 2017 ram 2500. love the ride over the gmc. no vibration and can finally enjoy driving.

i was a die hard gm guy but a person can only take so much.

the problem is gone now that the gmc is gone.

This was the fastest way for me not to have to deal with dealers and wasted trips. and the headaches.

Good luck to all who have these issues cause it's not enjoyable at all.

I still have my 2005 Ram pick up for hauling junk around the farm. It has never let me down and I switched to GMC trucks in 2104. That 2014 was tremendous. My 2017 sucks so far. I agree about the Dodge Ram outdated design. I can see much difference between the 2005 in my driveway than the new ones. That is one of the main reasons I haven’t looked at Dodges again .

All manufacturers build a bad one once in a while . Seems like GM I s cornering the market on harsh rides and vibrators.

You are basing your opinion upon the very small sample size. One, your experience with the harsh ride in your particular truck, and two, a bulletin board comprised of a few thousand enthusiasts. Compare that to the millions of K2XX half tons produced. No doubt that GM has produced vibrators. So has Ford, and Dodge.

You are correct, all shops are full of there own product line.

I would wonder how many people that have these same issues don’t know these forums exist or much less would take the time to get involved to research issues. That said, maybe there are more Issues that are left unreported or the drivers just don’t care or consider normal.

I think these forums are great because eventually you may find a solution to an issue if persistence is in your genes.

I actually had someone point out the answer to my frame thread. I appreciate when others help find solutions and always look for others opinions when stumped in life. Thanks Rick, it’s my first project tomorrow to point out the part numbers for the frame is the same for my old 2014 and my new 2017. That is an important detail that may open some eyes. At the very least it will put in question the authenticity of the GM field reps position.

It is apparent from the information you have provided:

The field rep is clueless, and really doesn't want to get to the bottom of your harsh ride. It might cost them a fair amount of money.

The selling dealer isn't doing their due diligence to make you the customer happy. They should be working with you to make you satisfied.

Like I have said from the beginning, the shocks/struts/coil spring selections are the root of your issue. The answer is to find the softest spring rate, highest quality parts available and install them on your truck... Then go from there. I had a customer of mine with a 2014 with Rancho shock/struts, and he was unhappy with the ride. Once I installed Bilstein parts, he was happy.

Exactly!!

I have completely written off this generation as a junk. They have missed the mark on so many things in this truck it's beyond words. So much more than just the vibrations.
