When will we see the Canyon? Im excited to see what the front end looks like.

I am really liking the look of the Z71 and I think it will look great with a level and little beefier tires. I am also impressed by the tires that come with it.

Now if GM was to take that exact truck and add a cargo area to the back (aka Trailblazer) and give me the 2.8L Diesel in the Z71 package and you have my next vehicle.

I have no doubt they'll be in the $35k USD range. The full size trucks are mostly listed between 40 and 50 and with the high country it will extend that beyond 50k

You'll pay a lot for a little I'm Betting.

If that I4 2.8L diesel option in the 2016 is anything like the I4 2.8L I have in a 2006 Jeep Liberty, it will be a real killer! It will rival the pulling power of the small V8's without breaking a sweat. That is a real game changer if the follow thru. Wonder who will be building it. The one in the Jeep was built by VM Motori of Italy, which is affiliated with Penske, GM, and Detroit Diesel. Not sure of this offering, the the 2.8L in my Jeep is a cast iron block, wet sleeved, Bosch common rail injection, dual overhead cam, with a Garret VG turbo on it. In the Jeep on road trips, it is not uncommon to break 32 mpg out of that 4500 lb vehicle.

I'll try to fish out an answer on the Canyon. So far, no word. My guess is maybe the Detroit or Chicago Auto Show.

I think the 2.8L Duramax is designed and built by GM. In Thailand, it puts out 260-horsepower and 378 lb-ft of torque, so yes, it will be a beast.

Wonder what it will put out after tuners get their hands on it

Green Diesel Engineering is the folks I got a tuner for my Jeep diesel. They do a great job with the smaller diesels. I will have to stay in touch with them when this comes out and see when and if they put together a tuner for the 2.8L diesel in the Colorado.

My first thoughts of the exterior. It looks good but, I wish they had been more original in their designs.

Why do I say this?

When I looked at the front, I thought....well....that looks like a Honda Ridgeline.

When I looked at it from the side I thought....well...the cab looks like a Toyota Tundra.

My dealer friend thinks 40K for the dressed out oil burner.??? We will see.

Zane, how deep is the center console? Deep enough for tall things?

Sorry, I'm not sure. I wasn't able to make it out to LA for the unveiling this time.

I think it is awesome that they put the diesel in it! Dodge just put a small diesel in the 1500 Ram and the numbers are pretty impressive. 0-60, HP, MPG, it does really well in all of these categories and I bet the new Colorado will too. I think it is pretty amazing that it can tow 6700 pounds as well. The Toyota Tacoma with a towing package is rated for 6500 max, and I bet the diesel Colorado will get much better fuel economy with or without a trailer. I wouldn't be suprised to see this truck get over 32 MPG. I want a new 2500 with the 6.6 but I still think this truck is awesome. If my son wasn't only 1 year old I would buy him one so we could go off-road together!

This is what the Siverado should have looked like instead of that grandpa looking family truckster it turned out to be. If GM had any brains they would stop production of the Silverado and restyle it to a bigger version of this. They wouldn't be able to keep them on the lot. This is a nice looking truck. And the diesel will be a big hit. Unbelievable how they could totally mess up the 1/2 ton then come out with something that looks this good.

I'm big on reliability & ease of repairs over looks ... but I'm content with the looks of mine. I expected a bit more in the fit/finish & reliability department, however. If GM can stand along side Honda & Toyota in terms of reliability, THEN the vehicles will fly off the lot. Building them in the USA would help (for those of us who live there) too.

    • There are probably a few threads talking about fuel mileage but this one seemed to fit the stats I have seen based on my typical local driven route but with different outcomes based on different seasons/temperatures. I have a few hundred pounds of items that consistently ride on the truck at all times such as a bak flip cover, rubber bed mat, tools and extra fuel so I would be something over 8100 lb without me in the truck. All these examples are based on a 100 mile round trip to a town plus running around town so maybe 110 to 120 miles in total for a trip. Using regular fuel and I assume it always has some ethanol in it but don't know the percentage they blend in. Also speed wise I am going at 62 mph and non aggressive driving although less speed yet if its crappy winter condition roads. I am going by an initial reset of the computer generated fuel use numbers averaged over a couple of thousand miles or so for each weather/season so they may be more optimistic then actual hand calculated numbers. Basically this is painting a picture of doing the same drive but seasonal conditions and temperature being the major variable to the end result. Oh and although I am in Alberta Canada, I am converting it to miles per US gallon so there is no confusion.    So winter time it gets cold here, no real surprise there and the roads can be clear at times but also often have packed rough snow or are are driving through loose snow ( they do a poor job of plowing the highways ) and yes this includes the extra idle engine time due to trying not to freeze ones butt off. 12.7 mpg is what I was getting during the winter months on average.    Then during the spring when it was around the freezing point and the highways are clear of snow, I was getting around 14.25 mpg.   Summer time, I have been getting around 15.15 on average but certainly some of the trips showed quite a bit better fuel mileage, so much depended on how much or little I had driven around town and number of engine restarts after sitting for a while at each location. But stating a best fuel mileage trip to town pretending that is what the truck gets on average is fooling ones self for sure !.      As I said in a different post, I had driven a 645 mile trip over a couple of days stint to a different destination then these other daily to town examples above, and was done during the summer with nice weather and not bucking a head wind, also keeping at 62 mph and its a rolling landscape type highway drive ( this isn't southern Alberta or Saskatchewan flat lands ) Hand calculated fuel mileage in this case though and it came out to 17.65
    • On my wife's 2020 Blazer (~69000 miles), we started to notice the brakes pulsating at faster speeds. Typically around town you don't notice anything, but highway/interstate driving you will notice it. I decided to pull of the front tires and look at the brakes. I figured with the milage, the pads should be wearing out to their life span, but they actually looked decent. Still with "meat" on them. One pad has a ridge wearing in it, and that same rotor is showing the ridge too. That's not the concerning part...the other rotor appears to have a raised bump on it!  The picture make it look like a pimple! Very odd and strange! NOTE: These are the factory brakes and rotors.   I'm attaching pictures of the front brakes and what they look like ate ~69000 miles.
