Took mine in for oil change and PI1288a. Talked me into the "peek in" recall which took some time - they had issues with timeouts loading the data from GM. Once they got into the radio update process, they found that mine needs the module to be replaced. It is now on order and I'm driving a Silverado LT 4x4 CC with 700 miles on it as a loaner through the weekend. I'm not in any hurry since I took it in for multiple items (and got a nice truck to drive in the interim)

dealer had my truck for 4 days for recalls and the radio PI1288A. I asked them to order the module told me that they would have to check to see if it needed the module. told them that PI1288A states all early built trucks mine was built in July 2013 (can't get much earlier then that) . So far radio seems better.

Earlier this week I emailed the infotainment engineer I was working with and got this response:

"Todd,

I have actually changed jobs out of the Infotainment group as of about a month ago. I think they are still waiting to see a proposal from the supplier. So nothing new to report yet, but they are working on it.

As far as Ibiquity and the antenna cable, Yes I am quite familiar with that story. Ibiquity created the HD radio technology. They do not supply anything directly to GM. No there is no truth at all to there being a problem with the cable.

Last year someone from Ibiquity asked me if I had any ideas about radio reception on a “friends” new K2 truck who had already had the antenna, and tuner changed. I mentioned the cable as a possibility of a one off damaged part. There is nothing wrong with the design. The antenna, and coax cable in the K2 have not changed since about 2004, except for the connector that attaches to the new style radio, and that connector has been in use by GM for almost 14 years."

I wil be emailing the Chief Engineer next so I can be kept in the loop on the changes, my #1 concern has been if a change is made to fix the reception issue and it is not backwards compatible with the 2014 trucks what will GM then do at that point to make the 2014 owners right.

Hi Todd,

Just wanted to check in and see if you had heard back from the chief engineer yet about if they've had any update on fixing the reception issue? I hope the supplier comes out with a fix relatively soon!!

Nope, nothing.

I even sent another email to the executive and heard nothing. Finally got a response today from the executive relations person I had dealt with, she is sending the info over to the chief engineer for follow up.

OK finally heard back from the Chief Engineer today. He said they are still working with the infotainment vendor on the algorithm that the radio uses to handle the multipath issues and HD switching. Said they will be calling me on a conference call in the next week or so to go over some things.

Good that they are still working on it, frustrating though that after how many years of pre-production and now a year after launch and the vendor still doesn't have the issue sorted out. I told him I still think there is a reception issue (weakness) based on my non-scientific test of seeing how far my truck and my wifes 2011 Lincoln MKX can hold stations. Her car consistently holds the stations 10-15 miles longer than my truck.

I guess we will see where this goes from here.

Really great what you are doing TJay. But I think the "older" our trucks get, this radio issue will be farther back on the shelf.

To some degree I agree with you, but then again the new 15's still have to deal with this issue as well until it is sorted out.

Got my truck back today (I want to point out that it was ready Monday...delay was due to me...not dealer). peek in done with no complications yet...have not checked MPG yet, although best mileage was reset. My original hardware was replaced and programmed per bulletin. Noticed now there are more stations to pick from and favorite station does not fade where it did before. So far, I am pleased. The best part is I didn't have to twist anyone's arm to get it done.

Update: drove around several times yesterday and today through the normal "fade spots" with no fading. It's much better. Very pleased.

I thought they discontinued the HD radio on the 2015 models.

After 3 days with the new module the FM reception is better and the HD holds a little better than before. While not an earth shattering diff. the improvement is welcomed

Took my early build in for P.M. and several warranty items (never had that on my 07 or 11 trucks!!). Anyway they replaced my entire radio including the my link system as I was having trouble with the blue tooth part of the link if I received or made a phone call on the cell it would connect but not put the call on the interior speakers and mike in the truck so (no hands free) had to pick up the cell to talk to people. They did the PI1228 update also, very strange?? If I am on FM the HD is showing off on the LCD screen and I can move around from FM to FM station no drift etc. I have several AM talk radio stations programed on favorites if I change to an AM station the HD control turns on?? and the drift starts on strong AM station here in the valley have to manually go into the touch screen and turn it off again, what is strange though is with the screen showing HD control turned on I can go back to FM stations and move around to different stations and have no drift of the signal everything is fine? only time I have problems is with AM then it drifts all over the place and I have to turn the HD control off. Have not been out of town to know the reception is any better, guess the mystery continues.

If I'm not mistaken, you have to turn HD off, before you save any stations. Otherwise, it will act as before, and come back on every time you switch stations.

The HD will turn back on after the next key cycle.
