Depending on how many miles and warm up cycles your truck has, it may still be learning to your driving habits. Everything is electronic these days. Try a different dealer if your not happy with the service.

At dealer and GM has heard us. New bulletin #PIP5175B. Slip or side during a launch in first, second, third, or fourth gears. Delayed engagement into drive, clunk or bump during the 1-2 shift. May 2 2014

All this is at temp. I don't have time to get checked today but will be back soon.

What is the repair procedure for it?

Please let us know what they have decided as a repair option. I was about to schedule a service again.

They have to take the front cover off and look for gasket alignment, test parts with air pressure, and check for loose bolts on assembly. The guy told me it would take a day, maybe two to check everything.

I was on my phone at the dealer for the original post.

GM doesn't need to produce a quality vehicle as long as consumers keep buying.

Yeah I realize this after buying TWO of these turds. Both had the same problems as yours.

I am now taking my truck in for the same gear related issues. I just got it out for the seat movement. Only thing good about that is they want to give me a 1 year free OnStar for my troubles. Lets see what the Tech says about the transmission. I am printing out a few of these post to let them know I am not the only one with this problem.

I just heard back from another dealer and lucky me it is just a plug wire gone bad. You would think that supposed new parts would last longer than 7 months.

Do you happen to have a link to this bulletin? I need something to from GM to prove to my dealer there is an issue, I continue to get blown off and they are saying no other 14' drivers are seeing any issues with the trans.

Here is a picture of the one my dealer printed out for me.

I have 2,200 miles and twice now after going down a fairly long hill at about 25 mph I take my foot off the brake at the bottom and press the gas pedal only to find the engine rpm's go up but truck acts like its in neutral. Same hill both times and I have to pull off the side of the road. The first time I put it in park and it drove off like nothing ever happens. The second time I pulled over and after I came to a stop I pressed the gas and it did find a gear without putting it in park. 2014 GMC sierra 1500 SLT 6.2 with 3.42 gears.

Anyone else having this problem besides me and Charliepotato? I have just over 3,000 miles and I drive the same hill everyday after work, it's not real long but fairly steep at the top. On occasion when I go from the brake (making the turn onto the hill), to the gas (midway down the hill) I find the truck in neutral. Increasing the amount of throttle just sends the revs up, still with no pull from a gear. On one occasion I actually continued applying the throttle until I was over 5000 RPM and it did actually grab a gear, not real smoothly but it slowed the truck to rev match on it's own without slamming me in a gear to harshly.

Typical run is 3000 RMP rev when I realize I have no pull, coast it out to the bottom and it catches a gear like nothing ever happened.

I live in an area without any hills at all, and sometimes when I am at a green turn arrow and I make the turn and let off the gas in the turn and then reapply that will happen to me. It revs real high then catches a gear. I took my truck in twice explaining that issue and the issue of the hard jerk into second gear as well. They will not fix it, this las time i went they simply stated they took the car for 20 miles( on my gas at that) and could not reproduce the proplem. It seems to me the only way some of us are going to get a fix is if they do a recall on the transmissions. Good luck with getting your repair.

Take it in and have them take a look at your plug wires. Especially the #4 wire, this one seems to be the problem.

Can you dumb it down a bit. #4 wire to the tranny or something under the hood?

    • I've been eyeing an upgrade to my tonneau cover for a bit now.  Intrigued by the BAK MX4 EZ-Lift with the torsion spring and went for the upgrade.  Thoughts and musings during unpacking, install and a few days of usage.   Once my order went into Realtruck, it took about 4 days to ship.  Unfortunately, FedEx Ground destroyed the box and contents and it was unusable upon receipt.  To Realtruck's credit, one email with pictures and an RMA was sent to me to send the first one back, and another unit was shipped out.  It arrived 3 days later, unscathed.   I opened the box and it looked like every other BAK MX4.   Biggest differences are the rails and retaining clamps, and of course the spring attached to the cover itself.     NOTE - if you are upgrading from a MX4 to the EZ-Lift, you will have to replace the rails.  The EZ-Lift rails have a notch cut in them to allow the new style retaining clamps to fit properly.  The new retaining clamps also have 2 knobs/carriage bolts and there are two tracks underneath the front panel. The strap clips are mildly different (more like the Undercover Flex clamps) in that the screws go in from the underside.  Personally I prefer these over the BAK clamps that use the nutserts that are a nuisance to install.  The remainder of the parts in the box (drain tubes, rail clamps, and bumper pads) are standard issue BAK.     I did not replace my front bed seal at the time because it seemed to be in decent shape.   BAK recommends shims on the GM trucks unless you place the clamps on the flanges about 1/3 of the way in from both the front and rear of the bed.  I shimmed the front and the middle, and initially placed the clamps equidistant.  This also turned out to be a mistake, because when I set the cover in place, the new style retaining clamps wouldn't clear the front clamp.   New style clamp inserted in the track:     And the issue which occurred because the front rail clamp was too far forward:     Once I removed the shim from the front of the bed, and slid the clamp back to the front flange, everything cleared fine.     The cover set on the rails without issue and I installed the strap clamps.  After I completed my adjustments, I pulled the pin to activate the torsion spring.  Mistake #3 on my part.  PULL THE PIN AS THE VERY VERY VERY LAST STEP!  The reason is, once you pull the pin, the torsion spring is activated.  If you have to loosen the front clamps and adjust the cover, the front panel will - by virtue of the spring, refuse to lay down.  The only way to get it to lay down so you can reinstall and tighten the clamps is to fully open the panel against the back of the cab, which will then allow the front panel of the cover to lay down and be tightened.  Not a big deal unless you haven't installed the foam pads yet (typically the last step) because minus the foam pads, you will need to place something between the frame of the cover and the back window so it doesn't get scratched.  The next time I install one I will install the foam pads before I pull the pin and activate the spring.   After using it for a few days:   The spring assist is great.  You literally can open it with one hand.  My shoulders aren't getting any younger and this was part of my motivation to swap out. The second panel latches and unlatches itself as you open and close the cover.  Neat in concept, however it took me a minute to get used to closing the cover and not hearing the "latching" sound that would tell me it was locked in place. The paddle handles are a huge upgrade and I wouldn't be surprised to see them become the standard across the Realtruck line.  They effectively eliminate the concern that a thief could coat hanger the cover open and get to the contents in the bed. I'm not sure why the very front panel on my cover has a different finish from the other 3 panels.  I have a request into Realtruck to find out if mine was not manufactured properly or if it was by design.   All in all I'm pleased.  Same level of protection, looks good, keeps stuff mostly dry (they all leak around the tailgate) and easy to install.
