If you saw them installing them on you truck before delivery it's probably because the bed was repainted due to transport or lot damage. They don't have to disclose it to you if it's under $2500, and it's always under $2500.

This is wrong. There are some optional stickers done at the dealer.

 

All stickers that are a standard portion of a factory pkg are installed at the factory but there are some that are optional and dealer installed. Like the Z71 on a sierra is factory installed on the front fender but the dealer can add Z71 stickers to the bed like a silverado.

In the 17 years I have worked at a Chevy dealership, I have NEVER seen Z71 or 4x4 NOT come on a truck and need to be installed by a tech. NEVER.

I have been told otherwise but will check my source. You sound confident in your statement. Special edition emblems are attached at the dealer and I could have had 4X4 decals added to the rear side of the box upon request. My truck is 4 wheel drive but did not come with decals.

That's your experience, and I have no doubt that you are telling the truth about your experience. I have a different experience, and that experience is that I have witnessed these decals being put on by the dealership. And no, it wasn't because the vehicle had been damaged in transport or on the lot. You can make a claim based on your experience, but thinking because you haven't witnessed something, you are qualified to make a blanket statement that it NEVER happens is just plain silly. You should NEVER be that arrogant.

My Denali was a factory order, and the 4x4 stickers were part of the factory order page. We tracked the vehicle to delivery, and an appointment time was set up for the afternoon the truck was to arrive. We got there, and the truck was still on the hauler. No stickers, no mudgaurds, no wheel locks. They pulled it off, pulled all the plastic off, we test drove it, and they put on all those items while we were signing papers. One more walk around for those items, and we drove off.

 

The salesman told me they have to apply those as they are "LPO" items.

I think it depends on the type of stickers or how they would be included on a truck.

 

I'm pretty sure the "stock" decals come on a truck (if you ordered a Z71 it would arrive with the stickers on the box). If it was a decal that is out of the ordinary, like countermeasures 4x4 decals on a Denali, those would likely be installed at the dealer. Mudguards, underseat storage, wheel locks, hood deflectors etc..all of that non standard package equipment is likely installed at the dealer.
