So my LT Trail Boss was due at the dealer on Feb. 3.   It got held up for inspection and has been sitting at the train station in Ohio.  Supposed to be in California the 18th and then a few days up to my dealer.  I wish I knew how it pulled.  But no truck to pull anything!  :(    Will keep you posted though.

Wow, that sucks. I feel your pain; I had an SLT with max tow ordered last fall when they finally started putting the trailering mirrors on them, the the factory cancelled that order cuz they aren't going to build that truck so I ordered an AT4 with the mirrors, that was 9 weeks ago and the build is still at code 1100 so I'm going to buy one off a lot that is close to what I want. Very frustrating.

Wheres the best place to mount the air compressor?

I have mine mounted on the frame rail, passenger side. It’s a tight fit/ spot to work but I’ve had it on this current 2020 and my 2016 and never had issue with it there.

I cant figure out where to get the ignition power from. I saw where guys are wiring to the passenger fuse block but i cant see where i can even get a wire into the cab from there. Wheres the easiest place to route the wire i to the cab?

Honestly I haven’t wired up the acc power. Since the ones I have can be run without air, I don’t worry about it and just use the remote every few days to check them. I’m going to wire the acc power soon just haven’t gotten around to it

Where are you coming from, inside the engine bay or from the bed area?

If inside the engine bay there are two decent locations with existing rubber grommets/nipples in the firewall. One in the driver side and one in the passenger side. There are good photos on this referring to the upfitter switch install.

Unclebud87, you are the first person I have heard of that is doing something similar to what I do with my truck.  I just downsized from a 3/4 ton diesel too.  I bought a 2020 silverado 1500 4x4 LTZ about 3 months ago, installed a B&W turnoverball gooseneck hitch and hauled hay with it.  I have a 36' gooseneck inline round bale trailer that probably weighs around 13k loaded.  I only haul a few miles and only about 5 days a year so I couldn't justify keeping the diesel for no more work than that.  I take it slow and easy and travel backroads only never getting over 35 mph.  Surprisingly I had no trouble stopping it.  I have been researching airbags and lifts because the rear sags a lot when towing with the gooseneck (also have a 16' gooseneck stock trailer). The boat doesn't squat the rear hardly at all (about 4k I'd say) but both gooseneck trailers do.  Heck just hooking up a gooseneck trailer empty it's already sagging. 

 

I am trying to find out if there are any problems combining a leveling kit with rear airbags and maybe rear 2" blocks and towing heavy.  I guess yours came with a 2" suspension lift so you probably haven't leveled it huh?  I'm also a little worried about the light tires that came on mine and will probably step up to loadrange E 33's once I need new ones.  I just can't bring myself to take off good tires and replace them.  My stock tires are 265/65/18.  Are you running 10 ply tires?  I want the leveling kit and rear blocks to get better ground clearance and fit larger tires.  I've already bottomed the front crossing a creek that I used to do in my old truck no problem.  And don't get me started on that front air dam.  I've hit it way too many times for this to be a 4x4.  I can't tell from the photo, what front grill guard do you have?

 

Any help is appreciated.

Mounted to Passenger side frame below rear corner of back door. Second photo is intake air filter it comes with mounted it  back of cab in small raised area to protect it

Thank you sir that will help. Do you have a gooseneck hitch installed? I’m wondering if it will get in the way of installing the airbags or motolift.

Did you wire the "optional" pink wire to a 10 AMP ignition-switched fuse for the wireless compressor? I know the location is on the driver's interior fuse panel, but I'm looking for it under the hood.  

2019 CHEVY 2500 HD Duramax LTZ.

    • Common failure.  You need to replace the fuel door housing.   The painted cover transfers over to the new housing.  To remove the old one there is 4 spots where you poke the plastic to release it.  
    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.      
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?
