I understand your concern. Wonder if they are having some issues because as of yesterday mine was scheduled for QC on 6/25 but when checked yesterday it still hadn't been QC'd. Dealer said he had 5 in the same condition and was wondering what was going on. 

We are anxious to get ours but also if there is an issue then it would be nice to have it corrected before we get it.

 

I would think your dealer might be able to help you on the lease if the truck is not in by then.

From what I've read (and doesn't mean it's 100% accurate) it seems that the higher trim models in crew cab are being built first with the double cab and dually's coming later. IMO, the dealer told you what you wanted to hear,  there's no way on a new model year they can estimate when your order will be completed, especially when they don't even know when the models will be arriving at the dealers. The only truck I've ever ordered was a 2010 Ford Raptor and they told me 3 months to build, but they also gave me a link to Ford's website that you could track the progress of the build and the location after it shipped. Makes me wonder why others don't do this, I never had to call anyone to check the status of my build. Anyways, good luck with the new truck and keep us up to date on the progress. A family friend is ordering a 2020 Denali (i believe he ordered it last week) and I'm buying his 2018 Denali once the new truck comes in so I hope it's 3 months or less too!

Salesman called and 2500 HD SLT we ordered has cleared OC and is waiting on getting a train.

he said he has seen it take up to a week for that, then up to 10 days to arrive.

At least making some progress.

It's normal, especially during start-up -- which is what they are doing now.  I suspect they are holding vehicles at the plant and at intermediate delivery points so that all dealers will get their first trucks about the same time. That means 1000's of trucks need to be positioned.  When they start a totally new vehicle, the initial 'units per day' is less than the units per hour when they are up to speed.

 

 

The VIN does not get assigned until the truck is partly built. 

 

If your dealer will give you the order number (probably a series of letters) you can find out what the current 'event code' is for the order.  This will allow you to track the progress -- but the event code status is not 'live' (since that isn't the event code systems primary purpose). 

 

And no, the system is not designed to track the order like amazon.

Thanks everyone for the reply. I understand I’m probably just being impatient. I haven’t ordered a vehicle before so the lack of tracking is just very surprising to me given the price. Seems like in 2019 there should be a better system. I took my order number and checked, they received my order but that is the only update still. Hope everyone gets their truck sooner than it’s looking like ?. I ordered a crew cab SLE, black, with bucket seats, off road package & a few extra goodies.

Your not the only one that's impatient so don't worry, there's plenty others and I am one of them as well. I'm hoping that the huge investment GM just made into the truck plant speeds things up a little once the dealers get their inventory. And I agree, you would think in 2019 there would be a better way to track the progress of your order. I know it's possible because other manufacturers have done this in the past

Dang!  I'm jealous.  Ordered 4-22-19 still not accepted.  My dealer said it's being slow because it's a gasser.  I guess the few gas 6.6 available were allocated to bigger dealers?  IDK

I ordered a 6.6 gas SLT crew cab plain red  4/1/19 and it was supposed to be built around 6/10. finally got through QC and supposedly is waiting on transportation.

Hopefully you get something resolved soon

Mine has been waiting on transport since the week of 6/3

Kind of funny reading through this, I think my dealer told me the best advice. Dont sell your old truck yet and think about November or December anything before is luck .that said. wouldn't it be great if you could get your number and follow your truck with plant cameras through production. But maybe not, it could drive some of you mad LOL.

GMC's website shows the 4x4 crew cab long bed will be a late delivery. Not sure what them means but guessing Nov-Dec?

      upgrading speakers on 2026 std cab WT...

      I don't wanna do major surgery/upgrades, behind-the-dash work, add amps, change radio etc. on my '26 std cab WT. On the WT, it has the base 7" IOR infotainment setup, and only two speakers (doors). Since I listen to classical, looked around for speakers that do well and dug thru reviews. Two-way speakers were found to be better than 3-way. So I've ordered a pair of  Infinity Reference REF-9632IX 2 way speakers.  [These may  or may not have been discontinued / succeeded by the 3-way ...9633 ones.]    These speakers are lauded for 3 ohm and 94db sensitivity spec so they'll work well for ordinary base car radios without amps and offer better performance (quality,  strength) than  default base paper-cone speakers. They'll be installed in a few days and I'll let y'all know what I think. Bill W San Jose

      Thanks!   Changed out the rear shocks today to Bilstein 5100s.  So far feel much better. The stock Rancho were wore out.  Lots of heavy hauling (2 moves, home renovations, etc).  Next up is new BFG tires Monday.  Cant wait the current tires have little to no wet traction and are super loud (hum)

      How about I just point to the factory pans stand pipe little drain plug and claim its a pan with a real drain plug !. I just couldn't swallow the fact that a Dorman pan which at this point is probably the only pan out there that fits the gas version truck cost that much up here in Canada so I decided initially anyway to skip it and see what I thought of pulling the pan method and down the road if I felt inclined enough then I would either install a drain plug kit in the factory pan if there is enough room for it, or have a bung welded onto it, or put an aftermarket pan on. The thing is if the pan is not pulled then the magnets in the pan can't be inspected and cleaned or if wanting to change out the filter. However of course it certainly would make the job easier to be able to drop the oil first before having to handle the pan if dropping the pan that go around was the goal.    I knew a guy locally that was doing custom field spraying years ago with a pickup pulling a ground driven sprayer, I believe it was a GM pickup with an automatic trans. He had a drain plug in his pan and would drop the oil out of it once a week and top it back up through the dipstick tube to keep refreshing a portion of the oil often and that made the transmission last far longer than had he done nothing. Soft fields pulling 500 gallons of water at the start of each mixed up sprayer tank batch and in low range sucking along. I imagine he got some tips from other custom sprayer outfits doing the same thing at the time and learning from their blown up tranny mistakes. Transmissions then had no lock up converter so would cook the crap out of the fluid slipping that much and it would not have been synthetic fluid either.
