I had the 15304 recall done. Seems to be some minor mods to the shift patterns. Holding gears a tad longer maybe. Just feels better shifting. While there I test drove a 2015 DBL V8, what is this with the steering wheel vibration / resonance? The rear did not vibrate but the steering wheel just lacked any dampening at all. It seems like it all just travels up the shaft - noise / tire resonance. The salesman was great and explained that it was just flat spots on the tires and that will go away. lol

Finally test drove a 2014 with the vibrations.

The salesman thought I was nuts for demanding a drive on the turnpike, but he headed back inside and grabbed a dealer license plate for the highway.

Once at 75 MPH, sure enough I said 'well, there it is... I'm sorry, but this is a non-sale."

To which he replied "Yeah, I feel it."

Damn, this thing was the right price and the right year/engine, and ran like a raped ape. But I ain't gonna buy no shaker unless they dropped the price unusually low. Like $16,500 out-the-door for a 2014 used truck.

They'll find some ghetto fool that will drive it around at 45 MPH, like it, and buy it I'm sure.

Picked up a 2015 Silverado LS Dbl Cab 4.3L 2wd two weeks ago. Rides good up to 75 where there is an obvious (not terrible) shake in the rear. Center console shakes, and I can feel it in the seat. I have access to a wheel balancer at work so I'll have the rears checked tomorrow. The one issue I'm concerned about is very slight, rapid vibration that lasts 1 to 2 seconds, which I can feel in the gas pedal & steering wheel. It only occurs at a constant speed between 40 to 50 mph, and happens about every 10 seconds. At the same time the vibration occurs, the tach jumps a 100 or so rpm & settles back down at the same instant the vibration ceases. Doesn't do it when I'm accelerating or de-accelerating. At first I thought it might be the AC clutch engaging, but it does it with the AC off also. Any of you folks run into something like this before?

Thanks

I will say this - and this may hurt some feelings here...

I have been shopping for trucks for two months now. I assure you guys that I've spent some serious time driving a bunch of them. My test drives often go for 15 to 24 miles. Even without the shakes in the odd model of Chevy (but another new 2015 Silverado 1500 that I drove all day, and a GMC Sierra that I test drove didn't have the shakes), all models of the 1500 GM platform gave the worst ride quality out of GM, Ford and Ram. Every time.

I was told when I drove a loaner Chevy 2015 Black-Out Silverado that this was just due to the suspension being new. I drove that thing all day (so approximately 100 miles on it that day) since this was the current loaner my boss had since his 2015 Silverado has the severe vibration issues (fifth new loaner vehicle I've seen him in). But I also drove a 54,000 mile 2014 Silverado. It was much later that night, like at 10:30 PM, that I realized that the ride quality of 2014/2015 GM 1500 trucks was just shit compared to their competition.

Still, if I get one for a low price and without the vibrations I will buy one. But it would have to be a lower price than Ram or Fords go for, for sure.

Your not hurting any feelings, at least not mine anyway. The K platform trucks do ride very stiff and are sensitive to anything in the road, especially if you rode one with the Rancho shocks. I also test drove every truck and to me if you are looking for a "car" ride then go with Ram.

I noticed something about my vibration today. I was cruising at 77. Flat stretch. The vibration seemed to be non-existent but gradually built up to a console shaker over a half mile stretch. No throttle or steering input.

It also seems to be much worse on sweeping highway turns or when cresting a hill at highway speed.

That's the weird thing about it. Mine almost felt like it would subside some and then come back worse... It's definitely not consistent, but it never goes away completely.

BTW, mine has now had shocks, tires, and a new rear axle assembly. None of which fixed the problem and supposedly, the local field engineer was going to be working with the tech today on mine. We'll see what happens next. This is the 3rd visit, and I'm going on 9 days for this trip in.

This does not make me hopeful at all.

Me either lol. My vibes are terrible right at 79mph, where I set my cruise for the highway most of the time

The RPM jumping up certainly sounds like a transmission issue, could be torque converter or valve body problem?

Well, having driven my new Sierra for about 1000 miles now I can say that I do not feel any vibrations thru the seat, console or gas pedal but I can certainly feel the road thru the steering wheel. I have owned a few chev and gmc trucks, the last being a 2008 3500 dually....all had a regular differential in the front not this new independent suspension. My thoughts are that between the Rancho shocks and the new suspension combined with the electric steering , 20" cheap Goodyears and sharp angles of the steering shaft all contribute to the rough feeling in the wheel. I live on a gravel road and I can feel every pebble I drive over....but it's a truck, does not ride as well as the last dually but I can live with it..

Most likely the '14 GM took back of my as it only had 1,300 miles on it

    • So you're saying toss the baby out with the bathwater? @txab posted article was her take on how AI can be used to manipulate pricing as it already does and has been rebuked by the judiciasry in housing. How AI can be and is used to maximize refinery or even Amazon operations all of which are true but because she is who she is; that makes what she says about what is true, false? Is that something akin to Pre-justice aka prejudice?    Look, I'm first in line to approach all information with caution just because we live in a world where people like to lie about someone or something with such a straight face and in such volume that it makes digging to the truth wearisome. Meaning I understand the skepticisms but if I were to toss out everything a person is for a view they hold then my pool of people to draw wisdom from would be non-existent and I'd be forced to reinvent the wheel daily. Not practical.    "Be innocent as a dove but as cautious as a serpent."    Test each word. Every good lie is part truth or no one would believe it. Find the truth in it and reject what isn't.    On this one, AI is being used to do what has been done by hand for hundreds of years already but at such speed, the point of a computer, that it is more easily monetized. This one wasn't that hard a lift.    I wrote a few formulas in a Lotus 123 program decades ago, a series of linked Macros actually, that allowed a daily inventory to be turned into a running P&L and production plan. Something that took three departments a week to assemble now took the time it takes to input the 'daily changes' in inventory. Later that was ungraded to the more powerful Excel program an and integrated with bar code scanning, inventory to supply was done once per shift. It had a huge impact on production scheduling, Seamless interruption flexibility, inventory error reduction, raw materials cost effective utilization and scrap reduction. Huge improvement in the bottom line. I spent months on that and AI could have done it in minutes. So yes, it not only can be used, they would be foolish to not try. The legality, ethics and morality are not the domain of AI. Humans need to keep a reign on it.
    • New to this forum.  Also looking to tune a 6L80 and trying to work out all the issues in my transmission swap.  I have a 6.2 diesel (1983) and have removed the TH-400 and about to put in a 6L80 with a TCM-2600 interface and don't have a clue what I doing after that.  Did you (Leatherneck/RAV3) get your slip resolved? I too hate to spend that kind of money on a tuner that hopefully I will not need too many times although from what steelerdude15 added about the HP Tuner being great for diagnostics would be a plus.  I am also from WNC but below you in Columbus.  Any helo would be greatly appreciated.
