Gonna schedule an appt for next week for my second repair attempt. If they can't fix it (which from the sounds of it they can't) I'm jumping ship to a new brand. I work too much to have time to take this thing back and forth to the dealer. And at almost 31k the B2B is gonna expire soon

Mine went back in for the third repair attempt on Tuesday and I got a call today saying that they used the pico scope and determined the driveshaft to be the cause. From what I read on these forums that has never been a solution. Fingers crossed!

Apparently, mine was fixed today too. I don't have the specifics yet, but will be picking it up tomorrow afternoon. Will report back once I have details on the repair and whether or not it's actually repaired.

Has anyone actually been able to successfully file for Lemon Law and receive a refund? I am on my 2nd 2014 GM truck and I am looking for some advise. Please PM me.

Another update on my 2015 Sierra CC z71. Still at the dealer on its 4th attempt, the 18th will be a month they've had it this time. They were advised by the field service engineer to put new tires on the truck, balance, test drive then rebalance the tires. This did help but the vibrations are still in the steering wheel and in the pedals from 65+.

The dealership is real shotty on the trucks they offer in a buyback. I'm looking at their new offers this weekend, if not satisfied, I will be continuing forward with counsel.

Save yourself the trouble and have a consultation with a lemon law attorney. You'll have a feeling of relief once you are done. It's nice to know that resolve is available beyond the control of GM, the BBB and dealerships.

OK, as I said yesterday. I have a local dealer who is working to remove the V6 - V4 vibration from a truck. They are working with GM engineering. He said they ran the whole laundry list of fixes, tires, driveshaft, rear end. Still had the issue. They contacted my dealer with the checklist.

I spoke to my dealer yesterday. We talked some details of what GM has been looking at. These were his words: flex pipe, exhaust manifold angle may not be correct, cab dampener. Once they see if these fixes work, I will be a test mule.

On a separate note, I went thru a trusted tire shop for a RF balance. Truck still vibrated. I also have been running around for 2 weeks on body mounts that were only torqued to 40 pounds. I had backed them off to let the body settle.

I could not find a torque spec so I went with 95 ft /lbs. The truck responded well and I think this has been the best it felt in months. The ride to work was awesome with just an occasional vibe but not the full time.

I will say that the steering wheel has a constant resonance. I am going to try an experiment to cover the steering shaft with a thick rubber hose and zip ties to see if it deadens the resonance / harmonics that are traveling up the shaft.

I am also adding my muffler back on for 2 reasons:

1. I think any noise in that area is able to travel back thru my hollow driveshaft adding to a resonance

2. I want the truck to be as whole as possible if GM decides to dig into exhaust as a possible fix

So I'm pretty sure I saw someone ask this a while back, but with so many pages I didn't feel like digging lol

As far as buybacks go, has anyone actually had any luck with GM buying their truck back? I know most members have gotten an MSRP to MSRP trade, or trade in assistance, but has anyone actually had their truck bought back so your hands were clean of the dreaded k2 vibes?

I'm not dissing GM, my first truck was an 02 and I loved that truck. Modded it heavily and regret selling it a few weeks ago honestly.

I just don't have time to do a trade for it to happen again and go through the same process. I would love to have an HD Silverado but I've heard a couple people here and there say they developed the same vibrations as us 1500 owners.

Basically what I'm asking is, is it worth the fight to try and get a buyback or will GM only opt for the MSRP to MSRP trade or trade in assistance? If not, should I just bite the bullet and trade it in as is and take the loss and save the headache of fighting for a buyback?

Here's my dilemma. I got a screaming deal on my truck, and if GM were to give me what I paid for the truck, I couldn't buy another comparable truck in a different brand for the same money. The sale price of my truck was $36,995 (then of course dealer add-on, dealer fee, tax and so on was extra), but my point is, where am I going to find a crew cab, leather, 4wd, max tow, equipped truck for that same money? I can't buy my exact truck today for that money, and you can't even find a used one for that. Btw, the sticker on mine was a shade over $50k.

I didn't get quite the deal you did but at least I'd have money from what I've already paid into it to put toward a new truck, about 7k

It took me from the 1st week in November 2014 until the 1st week of February 2015 for my buy back to be finalized

the biggest issues were the aftermarket items I added, GM clearly could not produce a truck like I bought with cash

that did not vibrate. I even lower my standards and they still could not find a truck that did not vibrate.

My dealer went to bat for me and took my custom wheels ( on the fourth set of OEM tires ) and put them on a stock unit just because

the dick heads from GM have their head up their A$$. I declined any further use of a loaner truck as they all vibrated also

and I did not want the responsibility of something happening to a loaner wither it be the vibration or it getting scratched.

I then realized that GM had the attitude that they could stall and sadly I needed a truck, I still kick myself for trading in my

'04 K-2500 Ext.Cab with 49k miles that I bought brand new. So, I bought a Ram and do not regret

it at all.

The finish is much better then the Silverado not one fish eye, run or orange peel. The dash don't rattle and the trim

does not stick out on the ends of the dash. The regular cab is much bigger and more quiet. the transmission does not

increase 300 to 400 rpms on a up shift and the injectors are not noisy like on the Silverado.

I've had one issue with the Ram, Seems some of them might have a wire in the steering that might cause the air bag

to deploy, My Dealer had this repaired in less then a half hour and a complementary oil change and wash for having to

bring it in ! A far better attitude then what I got from GM.

I'm embarrassed that I once worked for GM / Chevrolet Motor Division, I never expected any better treatment I just wanted

to be treated fairly, and by my own experience and just how long this thread has become it's very clear that GM has forgotten

about customer service and how to retain it's customers.

Thanks for the response. So about 3 months, hmm... I just don't have time to play games like that. I've looked at Ram's but when I get a new truck it will most likely be an HD (tow practically every day) and the Ram's 68RFE tranny has very poor reviews. Would look at GM trucks but as stated above I've heard a few HD owners still have vibes. This leaves me with one more choice. The blue oval. Man if I get a Ford my friends are gonna give me so much shit cause I use to crack jokes all the time about them, not so much anymore [emoji23]

Need some help. I can move the steering shaft about 1/4" to 3/8". It will actually move in the sleeve to the firewall. Is this normal? Could this contribute to steering wheel vibration?

    • Hi all,   I just bought a 2021 suburban RST with 88,000 miles on it and everything has been good but I’ve been noticing within the last month or so that there are small electrical things going on and I know what the AGM batteries and all the electric electrical in these big trucks you need to have a constant flow with good voltage   That being said, I bought a new battery thinking that that might have something to do with it but today I went to get in and start it and it said no key found when I had the key right in my pocket   It also proceeded to flash the lights inside and outside for over 30 minutes as I went to disconnect the battery as soon as I touch the negative terminal, I heard the relay reset and everything come back up. I got in the truck and started it no problem.   Anyone else have this happen to them? I’m starting to think it’s the KARR system that the dealer installed short circuit stuff.
    • I don't drive this truck on a regular basis since I have a new company truck with no out of pocket fuel or maintenance cost. Yesterday I got it out to run some errands and got the title message on my DCI. A quick Google search suggested to first clean the Map Sensor. I pulled it out and it was sooty so cleaned it up and reinstalled it. Issue not resolved. My OBDII is a couple years old so didn't see any codes. Today I took it to a friend at AutoZone to get him to check it with his reader. It had the following codes: P20C3 P02BB P221F Stating the most likely solution is to replace diesel emission fluid (DEF) tank assembly.   So, I guess a trip to the dealer is necessary. I read where there was a backorder on these tank assemblies several years ago so hope that has been resolved.
    • Are you using a weight distribution hitch system with your trailer as that alone can change the actual tire pressure requirements needed. It would prove interesting to see what the actual individual axle weights are on your truck when you are hooked up to the trailer. In fact when your hooked to the trailer, typically if anything unless it has a large capacity weight distribution system that is over cranked, often the weight on the front axle will be less when hooked up vs driving empty and certainly if one doesn't have a weight distribution hitch. Really the only times one may get up there with weight on the steer axle is if there was a snow plow mounted on the front or a motorcycle on a rack or with a very large jockey tank full of fuel at the front of the box that transfers a bit of its weight to the front axle.    And of course your tires carry more weight for a given tire pressure due to their size vs a stock sized tire so there is that to take into the equation as well.
    • Great info here thank you. I just joined, we have a 2014 Silverado truck we bought about 4 years ago with less than 5,000 miles on it. It has approximately 24,000 on it now. It appears to have all the standard issues that people are talking about. Occasional charging problems especially using 110 volt, occasional blinking triangle where nothing will turn on when first starting the truck but it will reset itself if you wait 10 to 15 minutes. Noisy coupler between the flywheel and the generator. Our truck is speed limited to 74 mph, is there any way to change that? The latest issue we have been dealing with is when driving long distance on the highway at full speed the generator does not keep the batteries charged. The meter will go into the yellow/red border Zone for charge status and the yellow triangle will illuminate solid but the generator will not keep the battery charged, not sure why the controller doesn't tell the gas engine to increase RPM to increase generator output it usually stays well below 25 kilowatts even though the battery is discharging and I have to slow down the highway to 45 mph and eventually pull over and let the truck idle to charge the battery so I can continue driving at speed. Has anyone had this issue before or have any idea how to diagnosed it? When via Motors was around it they were very helpful at troubleshooting. This becomes much if the Terrain is hilly and you're towing a small trailer
    • I have the GMC accessory (REV) cover installed by dealer. Ordered with the truck.  They did a very good install job, can't find a single issue. Some water gets in around the tailgate but no where else.  You can see daylight around the tailgate but that's not the covers fault.  Installation is means everything. Guys at my dealer were seasoned pros, not inexperienced here today good tomorrow types, like many dealers employ for these jobs.   I don't mind paying for a professional job.
