Something similar to magnetic resistance on exercise equipment like stationary bikes and elipticals?

Wow, cant believe how many new people are posting on this site. Its been 4 wonderfull months since I got rid of my silvy. I can honestly feel for you guys and gals that are having problems with their new gm/chevy trucks, I have been there, done that, got the shirt to prove it.

One thing i can tell you is be calm and curtious to your service departments, its not their fault. They are just doing their jobs, they have to follow what corp tells them to do, and usually means that there is an engineer somewhere telling them what to try. Yes, there is a problem with tires, transmissions, rear and front axles, driveshafts, and motor mounts. If your lucky, they will figure out which one it is. If not, do what ever it takes to make you happy. For me, it was a different manufacture, and i couldnt be happier.

Im sad in a way that i dont drive a chevy truck, i loved that truck, i loved my 96 with over 250k miles on it also that i bought brand new. And the one before that. And i have nothing but good things to say about my local chevy service department, those guys really tried, some of the best guys i know.

Good luck with getting your issues solved, i wish you all well.

right before your arbitration hearing they will call you and offer a full purchase value trade-in credit towards another truck and you pay any additional cost if its a higher price.

at that time you can make a deal for them to transfer all your upgrades to the new truck and I would "assume" they will absorb the labor cost but then maybe not and you will have to pay the labor but that's still a decent deal.

short of that its up to you to remove everything yourself and then sell it or buy another truck you can use them on.

you are not going to get a penny more from GM then the cost of the truck the way you bought it in stock condition, consider the rest lost money unless you can remove it without leaving any damage to the truck from removing it because scratches and holes and anything else will all be depreciated at full retail body shop repair prices.

Hi, so after filing BBB claim and speaking with GM Business Resolution person a few times, this past Wednesday my salesman from my dealership called and offered me a 2015 Silverado if I brought $6100 to the table. I said no. Just today they called again and offered the same deal but I had to bring less money, $2900. I also said no to that. Yesterday I sent certified return receipt last chance letter to Chevrolet. I am assuming this will go to arbitration (I bought with GMS employee discount) and GM will offer full trade assistance with no additional money brought in by me?

Is this what others have experienced?

any offers deals rebates or discounts will be subtracted from any offer, from the arbitration process the best result you will get is a full value trade in (so you still get the savings you were given the first time) or if you finally get to the cash buy back stage they will wipe out your debt and refund the payments you have made up to that point. either way gets you whole but it would not be wise to get another truck so if its an option trade it in on a car or suv and if you don't need a full size truck look at the Colorado trucks, bottom line don't let them talk you into another lemon Silverado because the 2015's have the same lemons

After seeing how many issues these trucks have, and knowing that GM had to have knowledge of some of these issues during their testing phase, I'd be very reluctant to trade for a new Colorado / Canyon. The trucks looks nice, but if GM was willing to release the 2014/2015 Silverados with issues, I'm sure they'd be willing to do the same with their mid-size version. I'd give those trucks at least a year of being on the market before even considering them.

I agree with your thinking but if I was trapped or felt trapped into getting a trade in deal I would gamble on a Colorado long before going anywhere near another Silverado, that's all I was trying to say

***UPDATE***

Got my truck back today, They ended up giving me 2 new tires and road force balancing all of them. After driving it I would say it is about 90% better. This comes as a big relief to me as I wanted to make sure the vibration was in the tires. It has a hint of a shake at 75 mph but overall it is way better. I don't too much care about these tires because they will be coming off in a week or so anyways. If I was going to keep my 18" wheels I would have made them buy me new michelins but it wasn't worth the time or effort.

Just like the mechanic there said, the large majority of the "vibration issues" in these trucks is in the tires. They were very honest and stated that they could RF balance and change out the Goodyear SRAs until the cows came home but until you put a quality tires on, you will still have a slight shake somewhere.

Like I have stated before, we REFUSE to sell Goodyears at our family shop because it is not worth the headache.

well I wish you luck but with most they feel as you do only to have the same vibrations return after a day or two. this is because they line up the wheels to ride the smoothest but as soon as they start changing position during turns and such I think you will be shaking once again as with most people have.

good luck

2014 Rocky Ridge less than 6000 miles vibration issues when put into auto. Slight vibration in 2d. Can here drive shaft making a

humming noise, which vibrates the truck, had a special drive shaft made from Rocky Ridge, didn't fix the problem, it changed the way it sounded and vibration seem worse. Had to drive 3 hours round trip for nothing, will never buy from chevy, not due to the issue they can't fix, but due to how they treat you after you buy from them.

Truck obviously has an issue. Lots of people are having them. but if you going to charge a lot for a truck you better provide a truck that handles better then something that came from a junk yard. Then they play games, like i want to waste my time and gas on something, I will not drop this, and might make a web page educating people not to buy. The funny thing is they are still selling this trucks with an unknown fix. They told me just drive in "2 wheel without Auto"( Service Director Ray at Kenny Ross, Somerset), I did so and almost crashed due to zero traction. Filed complaint and they offered 100 dollars free toward maintenance ..... I did not accept, its pointless, the truck is messed up, you can't fix it? take the 100 dollars and use to fixing the truck so I can use it as a truck????

Is the rocky ridge a stock factory option from Chevrolet? Isn't this a dealer installed option? Not sure how it is Chevys fault?

Not sure how you can compare a modified vehicle with the stock off the lot issues the majority of people are having and posting about here.

You wheels and tires do not change positions. Yes, briefly during a turn and suspension cycling but they return to a normal position. By RF balancing and replacing tires, the problem was made better. If that is not anymore proof it's in the tires idk what is.

It most likely isn't a factory option, but if the dealer installed it on a new truck before the truck was sold, then such mod is approved by GM and the truck should carry the same warranty as a stock unmodified truck. The same is true for customized vehicles (e.g. vans) when the work is done by a GM approved company on a new vehicle before sale. At least this is what a GM salesman told me about such vehicles several years ago.

I know lots of posts on here about better tires and properly balanced tires making it better but only 70%-80% so I still think there is another underlying issue with the trucks. Possibly the frame or suspension. A friend of mine wanted to test drive a new Tundra the other day so I went along for the ride. One of the first things the sales person talked about was the frame and it being made up of 3 different sections to provide both strength and ride quality. It made me think of this thread. I did a little digging and found this article.

Appears this isn't the only truck to ever have vibration issues. Give me hope that GM will eventually get a fix figured out.

Oh a few more things. Regarding the tires I wonder if during GM testing of these trucks they were running a premium tire and not the GY's they ended up throwing on them for production. Have any of you notice more of an issue on concrete freeway vs asphalt freeway. I was noticing the other day it was worse on concrete and thought maybe the expansion cuts helped keep the vibration going. Edited by mjj

    • Well that book won't sell many copies. Taking ones right foot off the loud pedal never gets applause. Funny really, It isn't that people don't know what to do...they just don't want to do it. But they will complain about it. About bad craftsmanship, about the cost of fuel, about the cost of part and repairs and mainly they complain that the solution while still possible isn't one they are willing to do.    I observe this daily. 'Gas cost to much!", they wail, while they mat it passing at 80+ mpg and scoot down the road like gas cost a dime a gallon. Then complain about the few that will lift and save both fuel and iron like they are owed and own the road.    Good thing they haven't an ounce of influence on my equipment. The rest I just laugh at. Stupid is as stupid does, right Forest?
    • Today I filled up with 4.899 gallons of fuel at a cost of $4.899 a gallon. $24 bucks. 290 miles. 59.2 mpg. After my 4% COSTCO discount just under eight cents a mile.
    • Howdy folks,   Recently I pulled a heated steering wheel and clock spring out of a 2015 Sierra All Terrain (part numbers coming soon - will have to disassemble), and just installed it on my 2016 Sierra WT (as base model as it gets).   On install, I noticed that I’m missing the connector often tucked behind the dash for the heating element.     No problem… or so I thought.   I used an “Add-A-Fuse” at my heated steering wheel fuse location, which has voltage, but no wires. I ran it to the positive of the heated steering wheel (Violet/White), and took black to ground.   Hooked up the battery, turned the truck on - no heated steering wheel. No button backlights. Was pleased to see that my cruise control was working though.   Read a post suggesting reversing polarity, so I gave it a shot. Violet and White to ground, Black to power.    Aha! Heat! But I seemingly can’t turn it off AND still no backlights on any of the buttons.    Checked all fuses, everything is still in good order. I’m stumped.   Does anyone have any insight? If so, please share!
    • I'm about 1800 miles into my last oil change, and yesterday a message appeared saying oil life was at 77%. Not sure why it popped up but I think all of these electronics could be susceptible to solar flares or somesuch. I change my oil right at 3K each time, and that was the first time in 10870 miles that message came up. Strange thing is that it showed on the screen at all since I don't drive with that sort of info displayed on the DIC.
