This is coming from me, an ex Tundra owner.

Look man, I am not trying to slight anybody that has a vibration issue but if you think that Ford/Dodge/Toyota is immune from this problem then I have an amazing bridge I would love to sell you.

This is going back some years but before dealerships had the large service departments they had now they used to farm out a lot of the work. During that time Ford had a terrible vibration problem in a few of their models. The "fix" was to swap out the customers Firestone tires for Michelins. For the majority of the vehicles this fixed the problem or masked it, for some others it did not. My family's shop made a killing swapping out tires on these vehicles. Sound Familiar ??

Yes, my 2014 Silverado had a vibration issue at 73-80 mph. Yes, my problem was made better by tires. I am sorry for others that have not had their vibration issues solved with tires. That being said, I knew I would have tire problems as soon as I saw the truck had Goodyears tires on it. I literally cringed when I saw it. Low and behold, they were so out of round that 2 of them got thrown in the dumpster for new ones. As a common saying in the tire business goes, Goodyear has never had one good year, ever.

The percentage of people that have a vibration is very small. The only ones you hear about are from the people on here who make up a fraction of the Silverado owners. There are thousands and thousands of owners driving around vibration free. In fact we had three 2014/15 Silverados in the shop today for oil changes and I asked every single one and they all had the same answer, their ride was smooth as glass.

I have to agree. I have many friends in this city and parish who drive '14's including co-workers and I've yet to come across one who complained about vibrations. I've even ridden in others and can't feel any. I'm pretty savy to noises and vibrations having ridden and working on motorcycles for most of my life. I know there are some shakers out there and I really feel for you guy's especially after paying $$,$$$ for a truck. My '14 Sierra drives and rides better than my '13 Silverado. Compared to the number of '14 trucks out there, I'm with BD431 and think the number is not that high on the vibrators.

The thread is to help folks resolve their problem. Lets stay on track with that and not well it is not that wide spread or other mfgs have issues etc.....

We're trying to make a point. Those having problems state these trucks are pieces of s**t, etc. etc. Not all of these trucks are pieces of crap. Just because theirs vibrates not all do. Some seem to think all these trucks vibrate which is not the case. I don't see anything wrong with someone saying they had another brand with problems and switched to GM. It's no different than those who have posted they traded my piece of crap GM for a Dodge, Ford or whatever. It's opinions and discussions, and I know most threads tend to drift off topic some but it's the nature of the beast. I think what BD431 posted is in with in line with the thread.

you guys crack me up if you think only Chevys have a rough ride/vibration issue. Google toyota tundra bed bounce

Tundra bed bounce was solved a couple years ago, what's that got to do with this issue other than an attempt at down playing it.

Comparing Ford, GM, Toyota, and Ram isn't going to solve anything.

GM needs to stop denying that the problem exists and inform the owners that they are working on a solution.

They don't want to do that because all they see lately is $$$$$$ signs and quality seems to be of lesser importance then it was in the past.

Bottom line; Loyal and long term customers is what keeps an auto manufacture going strong thru the years, I think GM has forgotten this.

You guys think it's not that wide spread but if you look at the shake/vibration poll it's at 50% with those owners who have voted.

Of course there is going to be more people with vibration problems on this forum. Do you really think that the people without the problem would sign up for a forum to read about other peoples problems ? I stumbled across this forum when I had a vibration, that was cleared up with tires.

While I am not denying that there is a problem with SOME people's trucks. Some members on here act like GM is purposely out to get people and have since launched a witch hunt against GM. My dealership was nothing but helpful and they were willing to go to any length to fix the problem. They also were very honest in admitting that some peoples trucks had vibrations.

As for the Tundra bed bounce, you are extremely nieve if you think that problem was fixed with body mounts. I owned one.

You guys think it's not that wide spread but if you look at the shake/vibration poll it's at 50% with those owners who have voted.

And it's 50% because most of the ones voting are people who came to the forum because their truck was vibrating and probably did a Google search and found this. If someone has a '14 that doesn't vibrate do you think they would know about this poll and come cast a vote? I can tell you 4 owners '14 owners (1 co-worker) who has never even heard of the GM-Trucks forum. So all those who have vibration free trucks have no reason to research this thread and come cast a vote. So then, if all the owners of '14's that don't have vibration problems would come to the forum cast a vote it wouldn't be 50% because most of the votes casted were people who have the problem and came to the forum.

1. So from your post it is your belief that people only come on this forum because they have an issue with their truck? News flash, many of the members have been coming to this forum for years, and have been loyal GM customers for years.

2. Not all dealerships are so helpful, if GM denies it then that gives dealerships an incentive or reason to deny it and call it normal especially if several of the ones on their lot vibrate.

3. What year was your Tundra, not a 13, 14, or 15 I would guess.

4. I'm not trying to get into a pissing contest over this, just curious where your heads at when you come to a vibration thread down playing everyone's issues. Nobody wants to have vibrations and shakes with a brand new truck.

Edit: we could always side bar this conversation thru private message, that way we don't get off topic or saturate this thread with BS.

I don't think he's down playing it and I understand your point as well. I myself have said I feel for those who have a vibration. I really do but, so many have posted that most of the '14's vibrate when that's not the case... and they're all not pieces of crap and not all dealers are not helpful..

GM has two proven repair methods to resolve these vibration issues.

First method: CANNOT DUPLICATE

Second method: NORMAL (OPERATING AS DESIGNED)

And the best part is that these repair methods work well and also happen to be the cheapest. What's not to like?

I am not disagreeing that there is a problem with some people's trucks. My point is that it is not all doom and gloom with every Silverado like some posters would make it out to be on here. I also do not believe that this forum is an accurate representation of the whole populous of GM truck owners.

I had five 14-15 Silverados in the shop this week including mine. I asked every owner if they had a shake or vibration and they all looked at me like I had a 3rd eyeball. So that means 0/5 people had a vibration problem. Does that really depict all Silverado owners ? No it doesn't. Just like this forum does not. Also, only 1 of those 5 people are on this forum, ME.

Why did I join you ask ? Thats because I had a vibration in my truck.

Getting back on topic, I just put my OEM 20" wheels on with new tires and guess what ? NO MORE vibration. My problem was fixed with tires. It was made better by my Chevy dealership and totally resolved with new tires.

I joined this forum because I had a vibartion on my 2014 GMC Sierra. Replaced the crappy goodyears with Michelins and has been vibration free every since. The dealer wanted to road force them first the right front forced at 42 and the right rear at 71 they said forget it and put the Michelin Lt m/s2 that I requested. Its been smooth ever since.

I'm sure many owners come to this forum. However, I'm willing to bet that the only people following this thread have either experienced the shaking problem or heard about it. I started following this thread because my 2015 Silverado LT shook like crazy the second I got near 50mph. My problem was solved with tires and my dealer was great. It seems to me that most of the vehicles mentioned here had the problem solved by changing their tires out. I feel bad for those that weren't so lucky but I truly believe they are a very small minority. I love my truck and so do three of my friends who have 2014's of their own.

I think I posted this before, I have a slight vibration that gets less at higher speeds. I didn't notice it to much until I change the muffler. Its in the V4 mode more present at low speeds. The cure was M-5 in town. later I put a tune in it and got rid of the V4, now smooth as glass. Maybe that helps some people. I joined the forum because Im an enthusiast looking for like minded people.

I saw this posted in another thread in this forum recently:

"Hmm well I was going to really brag on how good GM is doing but the construction company that I work for just bought a brand new 2015 3/4 ton WT today right off the lot and the driveshaft fell out before we could use it for anything."

It is obvious that GM has some quality problems to resolve.
