Well, I finally convinced my dealer to replace the radio...which they did and I have noticed a significant difference in the reception. They told me that they had an update on the model and that there was a bulletin out regarding this issue. I asked to see the bulletin but they didn't want to disclose it.

Anyway, I'm very satisfied now.

Didn't want to disclose it, BS. I would speak with the service manager and ask him for the info. It is your vehicle and if asked they need to provide the service info to you. I would remind them if they don't want to share the info with you then when your GM survey comes in the mail you will make sure to mark the survey accordingly.

I mentioned in an early November post that my reception hadn't changed after the hardware/software update. Well, for the heck of it, I enabled HD a few days ago, and surprisingly it is actually pretty good. Good enough that I'm leaving it enabled.

Maybe after the update, I already had a mindset that it was going to suck as usual. Well, I was wrong. Nice that there was something positive with the update.

I am still hopeful from the email I got from the Chief Engineer that another software update will come out that will fix the system fully. I have made some suggestions as well as to how the operation of the infotainment system works along with the HVAC and seats operate while under remote start.

Still bugs me that the darn radio won't consistently turn off either (in addition to reception as good as other GM vehicles I've rented). Sometimes it is on the clock screen when Imstart the truck, but mostly it is on the radio muted. It is just an irritant, but I can't understand why they put a radio in these trucks that isn't close to normal operation in any normal vehicle. Oh well....

any idea on a time frame for this fix. The radio is truly my only complaint about my truck. Well that and the poor service at the dealer.

Nope, last email was 11/14/2014 from him. Plan is to touch base with him again after the new year.

.........and much appreciation to you TJay! Without your input, I doubt any of this would have happened!

Finally got the fm module replaced two days ago. Yesterday my xm quit working. Had xm reflash 5 times. So I have been using the HD till it goes back to the dealer again. It holds HD a little better but it still goes in and out sometimes.

How did you switch to HD? I looked in the manual and it doesn't say much on it. Is this done on voice command only?

Enable auto switching in the radio settings and then when searching for stations it will pick up HD stations in addition to normal stations.

For all that have there radio replaced and new software. Your xm radio has a new id because it is a different radio, it will work for a day or two and then it will mysteriously quit working. You'll have to call XM and give them the new radio id number and ad it to your account.

They will re-provision your radio to your account and it should work just fine.
