Radio Reception Issues

Ok, just got off of the phone with the Chief Engineer and 2 infotainment engineers. GM is waiting on the infotainment vendor to finish their side of the update, they have to tes the update out and are waiting on the FCC to revalidate the HD radio and AM/FM radio system. Once the vendor has the FCC validation then GM has to make sure the new update does not cause any issues with any of the other systems (door chimes, seat belt chimes and so on) so then at that point GM will hopefully get the validation certified and out to me and the other affected owners.

 

I applaud them for trying and being up front and open, hopefully the validation will pass as GM knows everyone is stuck since we cant just go out and remove the system and put one in of our choosing. They said if the vendor validation passes it will be December of this year and they should be ready to roll it out to me.

 

I was up front with them this time that if this fix does not work or if they cant get it done that since I will have owned the truck 2 years this December that I would be making a formal request for a GM buyback of the truck and would be moving onto a 2016 Sierra. They said they understand, just that it is not a simple repair/update when you are dealing with a system as integrated as this since the .gov is involved in almost every step now.

 

Fingers crossed this update works, seems they are putting a lot more time into making sure this time, hopefully they are right.

Based on what you've described, I'm guessing we're still quite a ways out on this update.

Thanks for looking into this! I was going to wait and get this done at the same time as my HVAC update and the 4wd in cold weather but I guess I will go ahead and take a day off work and the other two done and deal with this one early next year.

Radio sucked today. Totally clear day.Listened to Gordon Lightfoot since this week was the anniversary of the wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald. That was 40 years ago. Hope it doesn't take 40 years to fix the radios!

My 05 Colorado had an amazing radio. Could pull in anything it seemed like. The FM reception on my 15 Silverado is only just acceptable. My friend has a new Ram that has a worse radio than my truck. Can't pull in crap.

Good thing I have an ipod with 8500 songs on it. That is one good thing about this radio. The ipod works nicely with it.
