Hahaha yea, the AM side has the majority of stations in Spanish, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Hispanic people, but I live in Boston, I would think there would be wayyy more English stations, it's not like i live in Texas or New Mexico, then that might make sense. Its funny you brought up where the radios are made, I double checked, and my truck was assembled in the plant in Mexico.... hmmmmmm. Atleast on the FM side I pick most stations, English or Spanish, but they fade in and out, and get lost easily, which from what I'm reading is the problem everyone is having. I'm wondering if adding an aftermarket signal processor and amp will do the trick, maybe I can get GM to pay for it and I'll test it with my truck hahaha.

Do some googling about "2014 Silverado vibration" and settle in for a long read. It seems they had trouble with defective ring and pinions in some of the rear differentials. I know yours is a '15 but it's possible they overlap.

Or you could wade thru the 334 pages!! here http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/153186-shake-or-vibration-issues/

Thanks Don,

I'm not entirely sure how the rear differential would be causing the vibration on the cylinder deactivation, It's far more noticeable at highway speed and at idle than say around town driving. either way I don't like it, and will be checking into it.

I believe GM is at wits end on our radios. It's been to long. Only fix is to r and r and that's too much $$$$.

From what I'm reading, I'd have to agree with you, however, thats not my problem... kinda, I paid for a truck with properly working radio, and they have to give me that. I dont care if they have to put in an aftermarket system that integrates with the trucks onstar system and steering wheel controls, this truck costs way too much money to not work properly. If it comes down to it, I will contact a lawyer in Boston and find out about filing a class action suit against GM for the faulty radios and shaking that everyone is experiencing. Or I'll just get rid of the damn thing and make some money since I got $19,000 off because the dealer made a mistake in the listing

I personally cannot see why the A.M radio reception is so hard to fix. I have taken my 2014 Sierra SLT to dealer 4x for the radio reception. Constant crackling is REALLY bad on A.M srations. Im here in Houston, TX 10 miles from downtown. Funny thing is, the 2014 SLE's I had as a loaner car, had ZERO problems with the A.M reception and clarity. Its the SLT models that have the crackling. We tried changing speakers, to disconnecting wires to mew antenna. Nothing works. I paid top dollar for SLT model but the SLE works better, go figure. If my 2015 ur end there is no fix, I'm selling this G.M and never going back!

Thing is, for me, I dont even care about AM stations, I never listen to them. I cant even get quality reception on FM, EVERY station I listen to has static which sometimes is so bad its all you can hear. other times, I get some reception with a little static, but I end up losing either the mids and highs or mids and lows depending upon the station. I've said it previously in multiple threads, It has to be the signal processing within the head unit, only other thing I can think of is interference from other wiring within the truck. People have been having issues with their GM radios for a few years now, and they havn't properly fixed it. I'm going to try to get them to swap out the unit, and all wiring, and request a higher grade shielded cable, If the wiring doesn't fix the issue, it is the signal processing within the head unit.

brought it back to the dealer today, I recorded 37 minutes of audio, and 7 minutes of video. showed it to the people in service, and they are taking the truck in again on Monday night, to work on it for the following few days. I'm going to get a lovely loaner, which won't be a truck.... JOY.... They said they have never heard or seen anything like this, and will have to look on the GM databases to see if they can find anything.... maybe I'll be lucky and they will figure something out, but I'm not super optimistic

This thread is 61 pages long.GM knows there is a problem. They say they are working a fix(update). Hope so!

This is a little off topic from this particular section, but I experiencing dimming issues with my hvac lights. "The yellow lights in knobs". They used to be brighter, but now can barely see in the daytime. Not even that bright at night with dimmer up.

I've compared it to another truck and others were extremely brighter. 2014 Sierra slt

If they are, my dealership doesn't know about it, my dealer even said that they don't care about this thread, when I was mentioning that I found this and a 336 page one on the vibration. Not entirely sure of what to make of that, but I guess we will see.

hmmmm probably a stupid thought, but you did check the light intensity roller right? or maybe the fuse? just a couple thoughts

on a side note, my radio is actually getting worse, and even XM is starting to drop the quality of the audio now and them.

GM is very well aware of the issues, if your dealer called into the GM TAC center GM would even tell them so. At the end of July I plan on emailing and calling the Chief Engineer again to see where they are at on the update and go from there.

My truck is in the shop now with my pushing for a non-HD radio. The HD reception is great when it works, minus the crackling and popping in dash speakers. When HD is turned off(confusing why that option is even there) the radio gets static. I don't like the HD because a great song will be playing then kirplunk "aquiring an HD signal". I'd rather just turn radio on and go. Not adjust it 50 times in a 5 mile trip to get it right.

I will check the fuse. Something tells me it's a ground issue, but you know the dealers...."it's normal". The truck would have to be on fire for my particular dealer to budge.

I can tell you, the non hd radio isn't any better.... atleast mine isnt, I've mentioned it here previously, but I sometimes can't get ANY stations to come through, and all other times there is atleast a some static, and the audio is constantly dropping part of the frequencies, most of the time it drops the highs and mids, occasionally it drops the mids and lows

that nice that you have the engineers email, I'm sure there are alot of people on here who would LOVE to have some choice words with the engineers and execs over at GM

I know there are a lot of pages to this thread, so I just want to point out to those of you who joined recently...Todd (aka TJay74) has been working this issue with the engineers for a long time and has been the "guinee pig" for some the attempted fixes. In one attempt to update the software a TSB was released and it was determined that a hardware replacement would be needed in some of our early '14 builds for it to work. I was able to use the info Todd provided to help my dealer look up the Bulletin, determine what was needed and apply the update (hardware was replaced and software was updated). Thankfully mine got much better due to this update for the '14s. Of course the feedback was mixed and Todd continues to drive the engineers.

Thanks Todd...we look forward to any progress that you can make on our behalf.
